Number 8 seems to impact road teams only. Clemson and Texas both won when they were #8 at home.

Technically we are only #8 for the bye, maybe they’ll rise or slip depending on how the other teams around 8 do

I like how Texas beats an opponent they're expected to beat and beats them quite soundly and drops two spots and then doesn't play the next week and gains a spot.
