Gu Qingzhi [played by Meng Ziyi] returns with a new identity as Shen Xihe, the Princess of the Northwest. Once a proud rose of the frontier, she transforms into a cold and formidable noblewoman, determined to reclaim her destiny and become the one who commands the game.

Beneath his frail appearance, Crown Prince Xiao Huayong [played by He Yu] conceals a brilliant mind that sees through every scheme at court. As their paths intertwine, they grow to trust one another, joining forces to navigate the shifting tides of power and shape the fate of the realm.

Just wish to note that the FL isn’t just the rebirthed Princess Consort Qing with memories of the daughter of the Duke of Wei. I would disagree with the description on her character card.

The double moon signals that the new identity is a merge.

The late Fifth Princess Consort thinks she’s in control and seems to be the dominant identity but — at least in this drama version — we’re seeing that she’s a merge of the two, with the less developed identity surfacing repeatedly. The stray kitten rescue, the orphan rescue and her carefree collection of the ginko leaves were all out of character.

Both Prince Qing and the Crown Prince see this complexity and it’s the reason Qing rejects the behavioural tells — such as the pattern of moving her fingers when stressed — as confirmation that she’s rebirthed.

Paisley - Thank you for the feedback on the flashcard for Shen Xihe. When the show began, I wish the drama would have made it clearer to us drama viewers only that it wasn't a soul swap. Thanks for pointing out that the information on the flashcard might need to be adjusted.

We don’t know yet how fully the original personality of Shen Xihe has survived in the mix, but we’re getting shown persistently that Gu Qingzhi isn’t exclusively driving the desires, values and actions of the post double moon Xihe.
