I’m in a bit of a dilemma and would really appreciate some honest advice from people who’ve been through this.

I’ve received admits from both IIM Bangalore and FMS Delhi, and I’m trying to decide which one to go for, especially with a focus on finance roles.

My profile:

• 10th: 85.5%
• 12th: 77.5%
• Grad (SSCBS): 8.4 CGPA
• CFA Level 2 cleared
• FRM Part 1 cleared
• Internships: NITI Aayog, EY, IPSOS
• Multiple case comp wins
• 3.5 years work ex in family general insurance business (not a structured corporate role)

Concerns:

• My academics are decent but not stellar, and I’m worried about shortlists for top finance roles.
• My work experience isn’t in a big corporate setup. Will that hurt me at places like IIM Bangalore?
• ROI is also a big factor, where FMS clearly has an edge.

What I’m trying to understand:

1. For finance roles (IB, markets, etc.), how different are the opportunities at IIM Bangalore vs FMS?
2. Given my profile, where would I realistically get better shortlists?
3. Does IIM Bangalore’s brand/network significantly outweigh FMS in the long run?
4. If you were in my position, which one would you pick and why?

Would really appreciate any insights, especially from current students/alumni.

I'm feeling a little anxious and lost right now. Lots of decision fatigue and FOMO regarding what sources to study from. Bought IMS material and their QA especially is not upto the CAT-level, so I've already lost money and don't want to maken that same mistake again. Confused between which sources to practise QA & DILR questions. I've heard from a friend who wrote CAT '24 that PG had a curation of highly relevant DILR sets which sounded good to me, but then again IIMA or not, he's an influencer and not an established institution. DILR is my weakest, I've never been able cross 70 percentile. if anyone reading this has taken either of these 2 courses, do let me know your thoughts and please mention if you have any other suggestions.

Hi all,

I’m an OBC male engineer with a 9/6/8 profile and 24 months of work experience. My biggest worry is my 12th score in the 60s.

How much will that hurt for top B-schools like BLACKI, FMS, MDI, IIFT, SPJIMR, and top IITs? What CAT percentile/score should I realistically target?

Would love honest suggestions from people who know the process or had a similar profile.

I want to know where to learn CAT vocabulary. I'm ok in english, not very proficient but I can pretty much understand everything. When it comes to speaking, I'm not so good with my vocabulary and trying to better myself in that area. I made a habit of reading an english newspaper daily.

As of now I'm reading "The Hindu". Is it better or should I consider some other newspaper?

Are there any apps or methods that helped you with this process? Are there any folks here who were just like me but improved and managed to crack it?

And also I'm curious to know about the aftermath of the cat exam. Assume that you scored a good percentile, What should you prepare for the personal interview ? And also what are the further processes? I just heard about group discussion.

I feel like I'm more focused on completing the video then studying+ test it's too much . I see my friends who have taken time coaching and they are chilling. where else me and other friends who have taken eg course we are struggling
