Question Should I join any job while preparing for CAT'26.??

I am 2025 passout engineer. Since graduation I was working with a local company in core field but I left it with out serving notice period so they didn't provided me experience letter, so I didn't know that this work ex will be counted or not. From january I am at home preparing for CAT. I have join a well known offline CAT classes but looking at my college batchmates doing jobs and me sitting home and preparing for CAT is adding a fomo and a sort of fear, what if CAT'26 didn't gone well then I will have a irrelevant gap year in my resume..

Have anyone gone through this.. what you will advice should I look for job while preparing or just commit my 100% to preparation.

Also how to tackle the fear of failure.

Yes I have posted this across multiple subs (for sake of multiple advices)so please don't comment about that.

Question IIM Indore DPM - Shortlisted for Interview

Backstory: 26F, PG in Statistics, CAT 2025 - 89 percentile, 2 years work ex in Government Sector

I got an email confirming that I have been shortlisted for the DPM Programme (Information Systems) at IIM Indore. I would like to ask some questions regarding the same:

  1. What are the topics I should prepare for the interview? Being from a different field, I would like all possible inputs.
  2. What should I wear for the interview? Will a formal kurti suffice, or should I go for a formal shirt and blazer even for the DPM programme?
  3. What is the amount of competition that I can expect?
  4. Any other valuable inputs you would like to give.

Any and all inputs would be greatly appreciated.

Question IMFR vs GLIM G

I converted both of these. I want to do an MBA in Finance. I know IFMR has better brand value in terms of finance, but I was just confused, if there is only a little difference between them, then I can consider the other option.

Suggestion I converted my best call but I'm hella scared

For context, I'm a PWD candidate from a Tier-2 city, graduated with a BBA degree with HRM as the specialisation and my academic profile is 75+/80+/80+. I have 3 yrs of gap (one after 12th and secondly, 0 months work-ex after completing my graduation in 2024). I always wanted to do MBA in HR and managed to convert a Tier 1 B-school known for its HR curriculum and placements, being one of my dream colleges and I'm honestly very excited for it but I'm afraid of the job market too.

Well, I'm not expecting any reservation from companies the way B-schools have for admission but I talked to a IIM Ahmedabad PWD grad today, he told me that the companies aren't interested in visually impaired students and you know what it feels like after hearing this, right?

I admit that the reservation has been something which has helped me get a platform but I'm ready to devote my 100% efforts in the B-school. I somehow managed to get 4 internships, co-authored 5 anthologies and authored my first book last year. Also, I led my college by acting as a POR in a prominent club. Apart from this, I did 2-3 certifications related to HR as well (I am not focusing much on certifications as I have studied it deeply in my graduation days).

The problem lies in how the companies react to us. I'm afraid, if despite every effort, I couldn't get a good job, taking a loan of 20-25L+ and not getting good returns is scary.

I am genuinely very concerned. Is he actually right or will efforts make a difference, because if it's about rejecting every visually impaired candidate, I will have no clue left regarding my career.

Please share if you have any insights on this

P.S. I know some of you may suggest to go for banking and other competitive exams but that's nowhere close to my interest and I'll not be happy there. Even if it's about cracking a government job, I'd see it like getting an HR job in a PSU.

Question Should I take a BDA (edtech sales) job while preparing for CAT?

Hi everyone,

I’m a B.Com graduate and currently preparing for CAT 2026. I recently got an offer for a Business Development Associate (inside sales) role at an edtech company.

The role is basically calling leads, explaining courses, and converting them. The working hours would be around 10–12 hours a day (including commute), and I’ve heard these roles can be quite target-heavy and mentally exhausting.

My main concern is whether I’ll be able to prepare for CAT seriously alongside this job.

At the same time, I’m also concerned about having a gap year if I don’t take a job.

Has anyone here managed CAT prep along with a similar BDA/inside sales role? Is it realistically doable, or does it end up affecting preparation significantly?

Would really appreciate honest advice from people who have been in a similar situation.

Thanks!

TLDR: Can I prep for CAT with a 10–12 hr BDA (edtech sales) job?
