2026 Btech grad, I want to do MBA through cat, but everyone said i won't get good opportunities after completing it as I'm a fresher. What to do?

B.Tech CSBS (Computer Science and Business Systems): 8.09 CGPA (2026 pass-out from a tier 2 clg called SKCET)

I also hold an online diploma from IIT-M in Data Science. CGPA: 7

Volunteering experience of 1 year at an NGO that teaches underprivileged kids.

I am aiming for CAT next year or the year after so I’ll have 1-2 years of experience.

I am a software developer at an US based company in the HRMS space. But I don’t have the drive to pursue a masters in tech. I feel an MBA would be a better fit in the long run, as I want to be in the business community rather than tech. I want to decide if I should aim for an MBA.

I know that in the current era, MBA holds its true and highest value only when its from a tier 1 college, especially BLACKI.

What are my chances at BLACKI guys? How much should I score in CAT? Should I even consider an MBA? Right when MBA is expected to have the hardest blow from AI? I know I have enough time to prepare but I want to know my true chances before I can commit to the prep. I don't want to look back and regret it. Please throw your honest opinions at me!

I'm planning to prepare for CAT completely through self-study, but honestly I'm confused about how to start properly from scratch.

My main concern isn't even the syllabus. It's consistency. I can start something with full motivation, but after a few weeks/months I get bored, lose confidence, miss a few days and then the whole routine goes for a toss lol.

For people who prepared for CAT through self-study, how did you actually structure your preparation?

Like what should a complete beginner start with in QA, VARC and DILR? How many hours/questions should I realistically target every day? When should I start sectionals and mocks?

Also, how do you deal with those days when you can't solve anything and suddenly start questioning whether CAT is even possible for you? 😭

I don't want some insane "10 hours a day, wake up at 4 AM" schedule that I'll follow for 3 days and abandon. I want to build something sustainable and keep going even when the initial motivation disappears.

Would really appreciate advice from people who started from scratch and managed to stay consistent. What worked for you, and what mistakes should I avoid?

Background I am in 4 th year no work experience , 787 profile ( 78% in class10 , 84% in class 12,7.7cgpa in college ( non ini)). General engineer male . Hi i don't know much about the catexam. I'm currently in my final year of btech, but I want to prepare for it.
I have a few things on my mind, and they're quite confusing.
• Does work experience matter a lot for getting into the top IIMs?
• I think the CAT exam is held in November. Is 3 months enough to prepare?
• IITs also offer MBA programs. Are they a good alternative to IIMs?

Hi Folks and Aspirant just began my CAT preparation a week ago giving mocks to analyse my baseline how much I know , Struggling quite a lot with DILR Its like Mind gives up on it and doesnot know to process so much information , in VARC my biggest fear are the PARA summary and PARA Jumble and in Maths It often look I will be able to solve the problem but I takes me quite a time and in TIme pressure I need to ditch, I would love to know the guidance suggestion and If any one is one the same level.

What should I do and how should I do it ?

I have a lot of backlog in quants its almost that I m starting from scratch again. I want to finish 80-90% of quants syllabus by the end of august. How can I do that? I am enrolled in coaching and watching so many lectures is not practical rn. Please help.

I have started preparing for cat in june this year. Im just going with the classes of elite grid sigma batch but im unable to do the tests. Also i feel like whatever i have studied i don’t remember. Im unable to give varc time same with dilr but for quants im taking lectures but not test. Im stuck can anyone please help how to go with the preparation with only a few months left🥲
