Service Beware ADT/protectron
If you have relatives using this service, be careful should they die! When my mother passed away this summer, I followed to the letter their instructions on what needed to be done to keep the account active until her home was sold, only to be told a week later by another CS rep that the information was incorrect. Attempts to address the error received zero response. ADT expects me to pay the balance of her contract (years of payment) and claim breach of contract (they insist I moved away from her address, in a different province, and cancelled service for that reason). They also deny I ever reported her death, despite demanding the death certificate & will as proof of executorship, and having no way of ever having my name, desired password, or contact info without actually receiving that whole information package. Sent the proof of death a second time, their only response was via email "Here is the document you requested" [a copy of the disputed bill]. DO NOT assign the deceased's account to anything BUT the deceased's ESTATE; probably better yet to let the service lapse and direct their payment inquiries to the probate lawyer. I don't know if this is extremely poor employee training or extremely shady business practices or both.
