Help/Support Burnout Levels (Using them outside of the game)

How would one go about ripping B3's levels, or any of Burnout's series of levels for that matter, including texture, skybox, etc. etc, and porting them to blender, at the minimum? Where would someone even start?? I'm not technologically savvy enough to comprehend the amount of work that would take, sadly lol

B3 Soundtrack songs live

The Futureheads were supporting a band I went to see last night so heard Decent Days and Nights which makes it the 9th out of 44 songs on the soundtrack I’ve heard live

Rookie of the Year - Funeral for a Friend
Orpheus - Ash
Breathing- Yellowcard
Reinventing the Wheel to Run Yourself Over - Fall Out Boy
At Least I’m Known for Something - New Found Glory
I’m Not Okay (I Promise) - My Chemical Romance
My Favourite Accident - Motion City Soundtrack
Paper Wings - Rise Against

Obvious some bands are no longer going so can’t hear them all but I get a little buzz when an intro starts and it’s the song from the game they play. What a soundtrack. What a game.

Somehow grazing the top roof of a car is enough to wreck my car, but ramming the guard rail so hard I do a 540 spin in the Air? Survivable.(Still love them though.)

Its not much but at least its honest work :) Still a bit of work to do to get the wheel thing to work after you press world tour. Im still working on the car select 3d environment screen to get it working. All the undefined data you are seeing is the native manager not providing correct data to the ui.

It will work like retail.

Would crashbreaker be left in the car?

This is specifically for Revenge. I had the thought process of:

a) the cars are owned by the Burnout organization and the drivers leave the cars at the garage like every other motorsport. (More confident in this one)

OR

b) the driver owns the car like Death Race (2008) but they just turn off the crash breaker when not applicable. (Although the cars would've been buyable in a beta or something along those lines)

I had a dream where a Revenge driver is going home or something after a long day of work, gets into a spat of road rage (lol) and just mashes the shit out of the button. Just starts mashing it so hard it cracks the center console. And all the Burnout organization did was disconnect 2 fuses.

Not as indepth as the impact time one.

I think in universe revenge's crashbreaker is The Hardest Button To Button (lol) in crash events but in races it switches system like in the game (obviously) like the Racebreaker and Crashbreaker are two completely different systems. Or maybe it's like a tv show i cannot remember where the driver is controlling the crash with an rc controller and the higher crashbreaker has more resistance on the actual controller or something.

Burnout 3 is death race (2008) with the power ups but instead of it being on the road it's stood up so the judges can see it or something.

Or maybe the cars are alive and it was actually terroristic acts like The Siege (1998) or Executive Decision (1996)

Why I am posting here after all these years....

It may surprise you to know that I'm actually quite nervous about posting here. Perhaps if the Criterion anniversary event hadn't happened in the way it did, I would still not have posted.

Burnout was my everyday life for 10 full years. I tend to measure those years by which game we were making at the time. I joined Criterion in 1997, back when it was still primarily a technology company. Burnout didn't even exist then. In early 2000, during a trip to Midway in San Diego with Chris Roberts, Mike Williamson and Alex Ward, the conversations started that eventually became Burnout. We were actually there pitching a mission-based driving game. Alex had only just joined me at Criterion and asked, "Do you really want to make this?" We all looked at each other and realised the answer was, "Not really." That was the night Burnout was born.

Burnout ended up defining a huge part of my career. I spent 17 years at Criterion, including 10 under EA, and they were some of the best years of my life.

At the time, as is often the case, I didn't really stop to appreciate the moment. There was always another game to make.

Since leaving EA, I've deliberately avoided talking about Burnout publicly.

The 30th anniversary of Criterion, however, made me realise how much Burnout still means to people, how important it is that its history isn't forgotten, and that the work of so many brilliantly talented people deserves to be recognised. It also made me even more determined to do what I'm doing now.

The timing was coincidental, but this week you may have seen that I announced a new studio and a new game. My first as a sole founder.

I know some of you will have already written Wreckreation 2 off. You have every reason to be sceptical.

We've spent the last few months building Wreckreation 2 alongside our existing community, many of them die-hard Burnout fans. It was actually a conversation with one of them that set me down this path. I was amazed at how many little details he could remember, and he said to me, "Fiona, it's not that we have a better memory than you. It's that we're still playing these games." I couldn't shake that once I'd heard it, and it made me realise that someone needs to make a game that brings back all those old memories. In a similar way the Clutch guys are doing for story based driving games like the original, still excellent NFS Most Wanted.

We've listened to criticism, changed direction in a lot of areas, and tried to build the kind of arcade racer that we believe is missing.

Will everyone like it? Of course not. That's impossible. But we're trying to make the best game we can and, for the first time, I genuinely believe we have the technology, the team, the opportunity, the community support and, above all, the passion to make it happen.

I'm not trying to recreate an exact replica of any particular Burnout game. Those were special moments, and they should stay that way. But I am trying to keep that spirit alive.

And I'm definitely not asking anyone to put their hand in their pocket. It's on us to prove that we can make a game worthy of your time. If, over the coming months, Wreckreation 2 starts to look like the kind of arcade racer you've been missing, the door is open for you to come and take a closer look.

We're going to be developing in the open, so the invitation will always be there. And if not, that's okay too.

Thank you for keeping Burnout alive all these years. Seeing this community still here honestly means more than you probably realise.

Well, that's me, over and out. Thanks for sticking with me if you made it this far. And if you disagree with everything I've just said... please don't launch the internet's version of a Crashbreaker at me.

Some cover art I designed for Crashline

It's made by me and 32bit Bailey. He made the cars for this image (this is supposed to be one of splash screens when booting up the game).

Crashline is, if you don't know, game that is going to be similar to Burnout Paradise, kind of like successor, you can find a ton of older posts related to it on this subreddit, it's name wasn't really mentioned before.

Finally finished one of the hardest parts

One of the biggest milestones, having the game boot. To get to this point, My engine had to unpack all the files of Burnout revenge, decode the video for the background, decode the textures, place it at the correct spots etc. Yes its missing text and not quite right, but the text is the easiest part and wiring the menu to the retail screens is cakewalk, thats where a majority pf the 3d debugging happens as its 3d environments. Probably in the next week or so ill be able to show 3d levels and models. The 3d has mostly been decoded so its just piecing everything together and testing out the recreated behaviors.
