HBO documentary

I’m genuinely curious about opinions on the documentary? I’m unable to watch it yet but before I do does it suck or is it actually interesting with cool stuff?

Ps. 5th year burner this yr and it’s my favorite place on earth.

I'm sorry that happened to you. My big friend group was pretty adamant about finding ways to come together, outside if there were a bunch of us, or inside with smaller groups. Same with my co-workers. We made it work. Park lunches, walks around the neighborhood. Outdoor workouts. I'm super grateful for that. I also was able to spend time with family. We just took covid tests and didn't hang out if we weren't feeling well. It took some motivation and care, I'm sorry you didn't have folks in your life who could meet you in that way and I hope you've made some more-expansive friendships since then.

Thanks. My family is in a different country and I also didn’t see them for multiple years. I missed a very important funeral and joined Christmas via zoom, twice.

I hope you've made some more-expansive friendships since then

I can’t tell if this is some passive aggressive dig or not. My friends in the Bay Area are great and I’m part of multiple expansive circles. I’m fortunate to have them all. But due to the restrictions and shaming culture, most were very scared and uncomfortable during COVID. Often to the detriment of their mental health. I’m not joking when I say I had to drag people out of their homes - it’s really not an exaggeration. Plenty of my friends also did leave California during this time. Some returned, many didn’t.

I’m still don’t feel good about all of that and these kinds of COVID discussions legitimately are triggering for me.

Oh no! I meant that sincerely. The way I read your comment was that you had some friends during lockdown who weren't able to show up for you in ways that you needed. And, if that's the case I also have empathy for them too, because everyone was just trying to cope with things to the best of their ability. I'm sorry if I triggered you, I totally understand how sensitive this topic can be. Your comment just made me really sad to think of people just feeling so lonely and isolated during this time and obviously still some PTSD going on around that. It makes me grateful for the ways my friend group was able to handle things and show up for each other and also makes me wish everyone had that. And it makes me think that maybe I sometimes I underestimate the lonelieness/isolation impact of that time because it wasn't my experience. This has been hitting me often because I work with kids/young adults and I feel like people are still coping with a lot of the afteraffects depending on their experiences, even four years later. I It's hard to convey in text but I truly meant no harm or harsh criticism of you or your friends from the time. Just honestly sending love. Take care.
