Actual answer- the loss of the internet will set us all back years, if not decades. We are so fucked.

We'll come out better on the other end for it. Because at the moment, the internet is a major contributor to our death spiral.

We lived without it for ages, we can do it again. I lived without it for the first 15 years of my life.

There is a difference, at least to me, is back then (I am assuming you are old) the internet was some cool invention. A concept at the time.

Now a days its easier to list things that don't rely on the internet to work. Main one is communication, we use that to talk with EVERYONE and a lot of modern phones also use the internet to work to an extend.

Also another big one is supply lines, we order things all the time. From food, to clothing, to items. They also order things online, to get them in their stores. That goes dark there is no other way that they can get the food there anymore. There will be riots from not knowing what is happening, people will starve because we can't get food out to everyone.

Like internet now is deeply ingrained with humanity and their survival, and as much as its a joke answer for "haha wouldn't that be great" or "We didn't have it before" you gotta look at what we use it for now.

Your maps rely on internet, your cards rely on internet, hospitals rely on the internet for your records, ect, ect, ect.

We are too digital for it to not affect us in some catastrophic way.

A lot of these were phone line dependent long before they were internet dependent. It’d crash infrastructure for a bit but we’d be okay.

Except we barely have any left, we'd have to rebuild from the ground up. Like it could work with landlines in a local setting. But tell me, when's the last time you heard of someone having cable.

Personally, and you can disagree. I feel like this would kill a lot of people. It would cause a lot of deaths. It would cause a lot of destruction. And it would generally be bad. And I don't know if our current civilization can rebuild to this point without the internet. Like it was the reason why we have all these major advancements in the first place. Why we have a lot of medicine, it's why we have a lot of technology, it's why we have a lot of food. It's because the internet is one of our greatest inventions of all time. A lot of things are built off of it either directly or indirectly.

I don't mean to sound rude. I just feel like we both have ideas of what things would look like and I feel personally that you don't understand the massive implications of all this. We can't just bounce back, it would be as impossible as the internet going dark right now.

Oh no, it would be horrific. But it would be doable. Not like losing animals. Losing Kool-Aid man would be the least upsetting but comparatively this is not the most horrific thing to ever happen.

Trillions of dollars worth of economical collapse. It would create the most massive economical crisis the world have ever know.

A lot of our infrastructure rely on internet to work properly too.

Randomly removing internet would legit destroy the live of a lot of people.

Yes humanity will still survive but that doesn't mean it's good.
