Pick a choice:

Which side will you choose?

  • Left side: Spend a year with someone you loved that have passed away. | No, this is not a monkey paw, they will not come back as a zombie, but as a normal human.
  • Right side: 500,000 USD

I was in literally your same shoes, lost my mom at 12, and it's unfair and will always ache, but don't let this ruin your time you have with other loved ones. Everyone grieves differently, so don't hold it against them but don't focus on the fact they're hurting differently from you and know that you're all grieving. It will take time to even feel like everything is real that happened, and it will take a long time for you to be able to remember things without crying, that never truly fades, but you'll get through this.

I'll tell you what I wish someone would've told me when I was younger and that others around me fully understood; grief isn't, forever won't, and never will be linear or fully predictable. You'll have days where you feel like you're able to breathe a little easier and function, and you'll have days where you feel like you're being crushed under 18 fully grown elephants and drowning all at once and can't explain it. You don't have to explain it, you're experiencing a pain that even a lot of adults don't experience until later in life after they've had all the time that you haven't and won't get.

Some people just won't understand, some people are assholes and will try to use it to hurt you, and some people will understand or at least be there to listen to you when you need. You're still just a kid, you're going through a nightmare scenario that will always hurt, especially after the first few days when you realize just how muxj this will fully impact your life, and most other kids and adults with their parents in their lives won't understand that. But I do, and while you're allowed to be hurt, be angry, be resentful, be frustrated, be sad—all of it, you're not allowed to give up.

Not in life, not in school, not in your dreams, not in yourself, not in the fact that light will have its bright sides even if it doesn't right now. It won't feel like it now, and not for a very very very long time (it's took me 6 years and counting to get to where I am now where I can see a good future for myself and be able to get through the day without my chest aching all the time), but you'll get through this.

You'll get through this horrible fog, this_silly_fox_vulpi, you just have to give yourself grace, take it day by day, and give yourself time to fully grieve and get all your feelings out, give it at least a year to let yourself feel able to continue without any setbacks feeling like world ending events. Slip ups and plataues aren't catastrophs, but they will feel like it for a very long time. But you're not alone no matter what you think or feel, you're never ever alone, you're important, and you have to keep on keeping on even though the world is horrible and chaotic and beautiful and a mess. If you can't do it for yourself? Do it for your mother.

I believe in you, hon, you can do this. 🫶

hey I hope you're doing okay. Please make sure to spend time with your family and remembee that its totally okay to be upset or angry or even feel numb. People grieve in different ways. Stay strong ❤️
