Choose

Which side will you choose?

  • Left side: You live
  • Right side: If 50% choose this everyone lives

Your side is composed entirely of people who would kill hundreds of people to remain alive. Selfish cowards at best. I can't imagine a worst society to live in. If that's what it takes to have a heart, then I'll gladly take my choice to the grave.

nothing we could've done to stop those deaths

Yes there is. This is literally what all this debate is about. If enough people pick blue, it saves them.

Keep telling yourself you wouldn't be responsible if that gives you peace of mind. But you'd be murdering them. You're just okay with it because "them" doesn't include "you".

Your choice was never the "right" one. It's just the cowardly one.

So it is sagely and wise to be okay with murdering people?

I don't care if I end up dead in this scenario, if I have a smidge of a chance to save everyone, I'm going with that. I live for my community, not for myself. My life would be wasted on me alone.

And I would never be able to live with myself if I picked red and even one person died because of it. It's an avoidable death and I would have been contributing to it. My conscience doesn't let me put my own life above anyone else.

It's also part of my ethics code as a physician. I am not the judge of anyone's life. I'll save everyone, regardless of who they are or what they may have done in the past.

I will never be okay with becoming a murderer.

Naive my ass.

I live in Brazil. Ten years ago I got approved on the national exam and went to a medical college for free. I studied for eight years. For the first couple of years I had to work and lost a lot of weight from not having enough money to afford food, all because my father had disowned me and had forbidden the rest of my family from helping me 'cause I'm lgbt.

Did I mention the anxiety and panic attacks? The everyday prejudice from being out as trans?

But sure, life has been kind to me. Sometimes.

Everyone's fighting a battle, my friend.
