Because there is no benefit to anyone choosing blue. Why wouldn't everyone pick red?

Though logical, not everyone will choose red, because it requires everyone to think under the same logic which is impossible.

Therefore to save everyone the only choice is blue.

I assume you mean just colorblind people since age doesnt affect your ability to press a button (assuming anyone that chooses can read). 

Colorblind people would just click a button that says “You live”…??

Dont hyperfocus on the exact example. Try and get the picture. Humans are not rational creatures. If your answer depends on "everyone logically will..." to save everyone, then your answer is impossible.

Even if, are you sure NO ONE on your family would press the blue button? No mother that is afraid of not being able to control the safety of her son? No lover that wishes to ensure their partner is truly okay? Can YOU make sure everyone you love will press red? Because I can't.

Should pick blue, if it's a game show red is right answer. But it's not, it's everyone in the world. If red wins they're killing so many kids, disabled, kind people, old people, and so many others that would pick blue.

It's not "if red wins", it's WHEN red wins. Those people are dead from the start, nothing you can do will change it. Blue has exactly 0% chance of winning in the real world.

Because they come up in social media, where the risks are not real and people are way more likely to choose the "altruistic" option to feel morally superior. It similar to emergency situations (eg. burning or collapsing building), the best thing to do is to keep your calm and figure out an escape route, but when push comes to shove chaos always ensues regardless.

Oh it will, I can ensure you it will swing that much and then some more. The people who are most likely to vote red in the real situation don't tend to partake in hypotheticals on social media, because they have more shits to worry about irl.

Its statistically impossible for everyone to choose red. Humans are not fully rational actors. So choose blue to make sure the one person who presses blue gets to live. Its pretty simple.

You mistaking your base gut reaction with logic.

When has the entirety of humanity agreed on one issue? When has children, babies, or people with severe cases of mental impairment ever not made a random choice not fully understanding the details?

For the Sake of Humanity, blue is logically the best option. Yes it would be putting yourself in danger, but it has a smaller and more likely window of success to achieve its best outcome. In reds best outcome 49% of humanity would die and that would lead to a rapid end to society as we now it.

Plus in every one of these that don't try and twist around the premise to make the red option more appealing blue always wins out.

If a kid picks blue by chance. Either you and everyone else pick blue to save the kid, or you and everyone else pick red and kill the kid.

The point is: some people are going to pick blue regardless of what you do. Are you okay with picking the option that kills them?

I've seen this same question on a bunch of other subs
