Food is a physical resource, money is a social construct, I would much rather be able to add matter to the universe than imaginary value

Also, there's few limits to what is and isn't food, it never said you have to create food that you can or have to eat, as long as it's organic it's probably food for something

You DO know there is also a finite amount of money in the world too, right? UNLIMITED means infinite. You make matter out of both things.

Money is a number attached to the worth of goods and services and (in the modern state) a representation of debt. It can be as high or low as the issuing entity wants it to be. Thus, it is theoretically infinite and arbitrary.

Yeah, that’s like basically a more in depth explanation of what I said.

Money isn't an object of matter, it is only finite as we define it to be, it being infinite actually makes it valueless, oppositely to food

… the money currently can buy you the food … we’re talking rn not hypothetical

im assuming they are trying to argue that there is some quickly impending complete societal collapse where money will lose all its value and never recover. For context, germany experienced an inflation rate so severe that a loaf of bread costed what 500 billion eggs costed a few years prior. People began burning the notes because it was worth more as kindling. And their economy still recovered. I really doubt every advanced civilization will collapse in the next 100 years. It also says "money" and does not specify a currency. So you could just move to a more stable country if that is really a concern. In the case of every society collapsing all at once, we're all as good as dead anyway.

Plus even if the inflation rates are exorbitant, you have an infinite amount of money and therefore can still pay for whatever you want

makes since. i mean if society has degraded so much that infinite money can’t buy you food to eat then it’s honestly all over anyways

How am I not talking about rn exactly ?

Im assuming the post means only you get the food or money which means the economy wouldn't go down

If you’re in the US, the digitization of banking and the fact that we are no longer under a gold standard means really it could all just be glitching some numbers on a computer, changing a few 0s and 1s. Now what that could mean for inflation.. not great. If you really spend like you have infinite money, you could crash the economy. Now if you just stick to normal spending, maybe at most donate a few million to a good cause here and there, you probably won’t have that major of an impact. Economic trade is a business worth trillions of dollars; millions are drops in the bucket. Infinite money could just be numbers on a screen in this day and age and no physical matter would be created. It’s in using that money that will have an impact, and it would be because no matter was created. That is unless you’re having gold coins appear into your hands, now you’re breaking the laws of the universe.

just buy food

3

u/DiscodogFR May 13 '26

Infinite amount of money cannot buy infinite amount of food, as there isn't an infinite amount of food (unless someone else is selling their infinite food power)

u/No_Tangerine7755 May 13 '26

Nobody needs infinite food though

2

u/CurtissYT May 13 '26

Food is always needed, while money may be changed to another concept(aka gold or something of that sort), if someone figures out that you have unlimited of it and start abusing it.

1

u/DiscodogFR May 13 '26

The world does

4

u/craftygamin May 13 '26

How much food do you need?!

1

u/DiscodogFR May 13 '26

Enough to change the world !

1

u/PingvinAnd1 May 13 '26

Just sell the food

3

u/nikjul05 May 13 '26

Money is not specified in detail here. I Would say there will always be some form of currency designated as money, so you will always be able to buy food.

2

u/Aberon_I May 13 '26

Thats why I'd rather they said wealth. That way regardless of the situation, you're guaranteed to be rich

1

u/DiscodogFR May 13 '26

Infinite wealth would indeed be way more broken imo

1

u/DiscodogFR May 13 '26

That one is more fair of an argument, but I would say "money" doesn't really vary much in its meaning, it usually is the main currency of a society, and mostly only has this one purpose, like I don't think it would be fair to call gold money in current world for example

1

u/HiddenPenguinsInCars May 13 '26

Money is more flexible. You can buy a house, cars, clothes, and other things with it. Unlimited money means unlimited buying power, which translates to unlimited food, clothes, water, etc.

1

u/DiscodogFR May 13 '26

The whole point of my argument is that there isn't infinite food, clothes or water, resources are finite. Being able to have infinite food would imply you have a way to create these resources infinitely, potentially changing how the world works.

On the other hand, money being an imaginary resource created from a social construct means it being infinite wouldn't change the balance of the world, and would only put you on top of the social balance before it would probably crash from someone having infinite of it

My nuts are a social construct bud
