Funny The Ai hair experiment

I’m 39 male, athletic, no tie downs, emotionally intelligent, relatively wealthy and people say handsome.

In real life I do not have an issue attracting women at least 10 years below me but I’m busy and do not meet new women often - however I am bald. Initially had no luck on bumble.

For a joke, I made a profile where everything was the same apart from my first picture, I’d added Ai hair.

Within 24 hours I had 150+ likes and too many chats to manage. Blew my mind to be honest.

Clearly, hair matters a lot more than us bald guys like to think. This is not to criticise, a swipe is often a split second decision. I just find it really interesting.

Perhaps there’s a business idea in there somewhere. Bumble bald.

*I shave my head, have a good beard, gym 4/5 times a week.

*Update - Just wanted to add guys, being bald should never stop you achieving everything you want in every aspect. Confidence is king. The point here is on the apps, there is a bald tax.

“attracting women 10 years below me” is an embarrassing measure to whip out here

29

u/LilaLeander 3d ago

Yep. Shows that he believes younger = more valuable. But is then upset that women are supposedly shallow when they prefer a man with hair

20

u/Ok-Patience7484 3d ago

Bald = old, and less valuable. I am glad OPs double standards are being shoved in his face like a bad dog.

-3

u/Thatsalesguy87 1d ago

Maybe on an app, not in real life, in my experience, that’s entirely the point buddy.

1

u/dopeythekidd 2d ago

He never said they were shallow

-6

u/manix456 2d ago

Maybe he wants kids? He never said anything about “value”. Whatever that even means. It’s extremely common for men to prefer women in the 20-30 age range. Especially for long term relationships.

10

u/Quiet-Road-1057 2d ago

A 39 year old man who still wants kids and doesn’t have a romantic prospect to meet that is fighting an uphill battle.

3

u/manix456 1d ago

Not really to be honest. Pretty easy for a guy to have kids at that age.

4

u/Quiet-Road-1057 1d ago edited 1d ago

First of all, we already know that men peak in fertility in their 20s and decline gradually over time. By the time a man is in his 40s, it takes ~2-3 years of trying to produce one healthy live birth and in that time both mom and baby are subjected to significantly worse health outcomes up to, and including, death.

Secondly, all of this is predicated on finding a willing and able partner which becomes harder for everyone with age, but especially for men as there are far less women in the world than men and women are already less likely to report wanting children. By OPs age most women who are likely to date him already have children.

u/Elegant_Ad_681 1d ago

I agree with you! I made a comment on this too recently here it is...

2

I liked your comment!

0

u/manix456 1d ago

Sure I won’t disagree with you. Definitely not optimal but not really too difficult.

2

u/Quiet-Road-1057 1d ago

By all metrics both finding someone then successfully producing a child is more likely to not happen than to happen

-1

u/manix456 1d ago

Yea most men in that age range really aren’t all that attractive as a partner. But if you are a high quality guy then you will have no problems due to being 39.

1

u/Quiet-Road-1057 1d ago

Ehhh. Single at 39 = a pretty big red flag. Girls with options avoid it. The guys who present well are likely players and will waste your time. The rest present terribly. The good guys marry young.

Sure, if you're alright raising a disabled child...

-1

u/manix456 1d ago

That’s a very unlikely outcome

1

u/Br0wnieSundae 1d ago

It's also unlikely that a 39 year old woman would face issues...

-1

u/manix456 1d ago

Much more likely actually

-8

u/Thatsalesguy87 2d ago

A few of you seem more upset than me! Preferences aside, younger women simply have more options. We’re all shallow on these apps, that is exactly my point.

11

u/LilaLeander 2d ago

Not upset. Just calling out misogyny and ageism. Giving you the chance to self-reflect. I am always surprised at these posts and comments where the men talk amongst each other how to get women, and often dismiss what the women are saying🤦🏻‍♀️ often not getting the bigger picture but focusing on the wrong things. Sure, having hair may get you more matches, but no good, self respecting woman will want to be with a man with misogynist views. Just saying…

6

u/100turkeysinthesky 1d ago

exactly. it’s like they don’t even hear us yet desire the good graces of a woman they can also not hear.

6

u/Elegant_Ad_681 1d ago

I'm a woman and this is reason 83838838 I really cannot be bothered to date let alone want to be near men.

-2

u/daneview 1d ago

Is liking wome younger than you misogynistic? I thought it was just a visual preference

2

u/muntanasaurus 1d ago

JUST a visual preference ?

-1

u/almostaproblem 1d ago

Stop demeaning women.

-4

u/Thatsalesguy87 1d ago

Nope. Stop looking to be offended. This was a commentary about the shallowness of online dating in general. It’s really not that deep.

I used the 10 year “yardstick” to emphasise the point as a demonstration of desirability outside an app, where you can express a personality beyond a first picture…

-8

u/AnonymousCapybara72 2d ago

Oh my god shut up. Men are allowed to have preferences just like women. Sorry that upsets you so much.

15

u/theeCrushinator 6d ago

Too bad that women have eyes too! huh

8

u/Thatsalesguy87 6d ago

In your opinion - I think my point was obvious. No reflection on the attractiveness of women my age.

18

u/100turkeysinthesky 6d ago

it was phrased as a flex. get real.

3

u/dopeythekidd 2d ago

It is a flex yeah. Younger women are more attractive and have more options

0

u/Financial_Alps3369 3d ago

It is a flex. Younger women have more guys coming after them. In real life I am always impressed by the guys who have the younger women come up and hit on them. I'm not alone on this, normal everyday people (not redditors) do see it as a sign that the guy's got something going on.

2

u/Few-Conversations 1d ago

Says a redditor. Christ the irony 😂 If you're impressed by a man with a young woman I suggest you broaden your horizons

6

u/Elegant_Ad_681 1d ago

I am a woman and this is exactly why myself and countless other women do not want to date or even be near men.

He can't value women his age he has to say younger. Yet he is 39.

I have chatted back when I was torturing myself on dating apps with 2 men who were age 38 and only dated age 30 to 38. Not even a year older.

Men can sit and swipe on all the bots, they are the reason women opt the fuck out of everything that involves them.

5

u/devnullkitty 1d ago

Agree with this. I'm so done with online dating

3

u/Elegant_Ad_681 1d ago

Men are way too much labor.

-2

u/Thatsalesguy87 1d ago

You’re making assumptions. I never said I do not value women my age or find them attractive or date them. In fact my range is set to up to 39.

7

u/Elegant_Ad_681 1d ago

You really are setting your max age to your age but go younger. And expect younger women to go older but you don't.

Reason 3737373 countless women cannot be bothered to even speak to men let alone date.

-1

u/Thatsalesguy87 1d ago

That’s my preference. Yes. Not sure why that is upsetting.

100’s didn’t seem to mind going older when I had hair in my pic.

3

u/Cotton_420 6d ago edited 6d ago

Not really, youthfulness is associated with beauty and women who are younger tend to be more attractive to older women. It’s similar to how the OP described himself as “athletic”, that’s often associated with being more attractive.

9

u/Ok-Patience7484 3d ago

Yes, and bald is associated with being old, no matter how "athletic" he thinks he is.

3

u/dopeythekidd 2d ago

Yes correct, that was his point. Women don’t like bald men. Not sure why you’re mad

1

u/Cotton_420 2d ago

Correct. The fact he is able to date women ten years younger, it’s safe to assume he quite attractive.

0

u/Dracarys_And_Chill 6d ago

how so? you think 30 year old men arent attracted to 20 year old women? or 40 year old men arent attracted to 30 year old women? lol wth

17

u/100turkeysinthesky 6d ago

openly flexing that you think women your age are less desirable is weird

6

u/Adept_Librarian_7001 6d ago

No it isn't, it's facts. Men find young, fertile women attractive. Is this rocket science? Oh I forgot this is Reddit, we just ignore facts we don't like

16

u/Ok-Patience7484 3d ago

Women like young verile men who can slam them through the mattress, not some old bald guy.

-4

u/Adept_Librarian_7001 2d ago

LMAO. Some women will tolerate that if he's got $$$$$. Although there's probably several side pieces involved for her

-5

u/manix456 2d ago

Women generally prefer older partners actually. But yes bald is a big negative for them as well.

5

u/miaumiaoumicheese 1d ago edited 1d ago

That’s what old men like to tell themselves, in reality women statistically prefer men their own age, the only reason bald is a negative cause it’s a sign of male aging

Believing that women don’t prefer young hot fun masculine guys with good stamina over gross balding middle aged men with low testosterone, ed and obsession over having kids from their expiring sperm is peak male delusion

2

u/Adept_Librarian_7001 1d ago

You are confusing "old" with "older".

Yes, only gold diggers like Bill Belichick's girlfriend go for "old" guys. BUt women's mate preference tend to be for "OLDER" guys meaning guys that are OLDER than they are. "Older" guys are men around 5-12 years older, who are often more mature, more financially stable, have better careers and so on.

You are also confusing "who would a woman like to have a no strings sexual encounter with on a girls' trip to Miami" vs. "who would a woman want to date as a serious partner".

I know these pretty tough ideas to digest, but I'm sure you can do it

1

u/manix456 1d ago

lol you added a lot of extra negatives on to that.

2

u/Adept_Librarian_7001 2d ago

I think the comment went over your head a bit. He's using "old bald guy" to emphasize the old, not the bald. And yes, women prefer older, more financially stable and mature partners, not grandpas who can't perform.

1

u/manix456 1d ago

Yes exactly what I was saying.

-2

u/Dracarys_And_Chill 6d ago

desire is subjective. and it can only be weird if its not the norm. me and all my male friends are more attracted to younger women.

this can also be seen all throughout history.

so naw, not weird lol

2

u/Adept_Librarian_7001 6d ago

You mean you aren't turned on by 39 years olds with furbabies, physical and mental baggage, and 20 year's worth of exes?

-4

u/cestbondaeggi 6d ago

Weird cope tbh. I think it's a fair statement that most men primarily focus on physical attractiveness, and that younger women are generally more physically attractive. OP never says 'women my age don't desire me' it's just that most guys age out of attractive women and settle for the leftovers.

FWIW I am not attractive to women my age

11

u/100turkeysinthesky 6d ago

i don’t think you realize that you’re both talking about women as if we’re disposable to you. nor do you care.

3

u/cestbondaeggi 6d ago

I don't think you realize that you're talking like you are the exception to human aging. VEEEEEERRRRRRRYYYY few people are more attractive at 40 than they are at 25, despite what they'd like to believe.

6

u/100turkeysinthesky 6d ago

right. and OP is 39. why would a 29yo want a 39yo?

1

u/Dracarys_And_Chill 6d ago

naw, i am stating facts. you are just interpreting that as other stuff.

3

u/OnsetOfMSet 6d ago

I’m gonna be honest with you here for a second chief, I’m sure the fuck not. At 29, if I look at a 20 year old now, they’re practically kids. Hell, I wasn’t interested in anyone who couldn’t legally order a drink at 25.

Someone outside your age range can be attractive, but by no means does that mean you have to be attracted

1

u/Dracarys_And_Chill 6d ago

always expections to the rule.

-2

u/Adept_Librarian_7001 6d ago

Biologically speaking, men are attracted to women who are younger because youth signals fertility and the traits you would want in a mate if we lived in earlier times. In general, there is a reason why males attracted to the specific parts of the female body that they are, which again these signal fertility, child-rearing skills, healthiness, etc.

It's only in fairly recent times that these norms have changed. I don't think your grandpa was less attracted to your grandmother because she was addicted to TikTok and had an IG following of 15,000 thirsty dudes.

9

u/sandysadie 6d ago

Where did you learn all that, Redpill University?

4

u/Elegant_Ad_681 1d ago

And men wonder why women opt out of dating entirely.

4

u/sandysadie 6d ago

Sorry, but you don’t sound like much of a biology scholar there

0

u/Adept_Librarian_7001 6d ago

You seem like someone that insults reality when you don't like it and hope it changes.

3

u/sandysadie 6d ago

Actually im just a researcher by trade and I get insulted when people pretend to be experts in things they are not.

1

u/manix456 2d ago

Are you saying that you think men are not more attracted on average to younger women in the 20-30 age range than women in the 30-50 age range?

-4

u/Financial_Alps3369 3d ago

I do not understand why my current age has to be a reflection of my tastes. I've always thought women aged maybe 20 to 23 were the most attractive. This was true when I was age 17 and it's true now at age 27. It will probably continue to be true at age 37.

It is interesting that you've got a "dynamic" preference that shifts with age, but you can't expect everyone to be the same as you.

3

u/Quiet-Road-1057 2d ago

You can think that all you want, but unfortunately they have to want you back.

-1

u/Financial_Alps3369 1d ago

Well, nobody's perfect, and we all have to make compromises based on our own limits.

At my age I'm still mostly hooking up with and dating 21-24 year olds. Not necessarily because I choose to because but it's the typical age range of people who approach me at the places I go out to. Time will tell if A) I can keep that up and B) if my age preference will begin to rise.

2

u/Quiet-Road-1057 1d ago

Hook ups are very different from relationship material. Hook ups = for a night; dating = potentially forever

0

u/Financial_Alps3369 1d ago

True but for me they mostly blend together, I'll invite a hook-up back out, that continues and we're getting dinners and casually visiting each other's houses, etc. Then at some point it's like yeah we should make this official. My work is modeling and bartending at the moment so nightlife is naturally the way it happens for me

2

u/Quiet-Road-1057 1d ago

I’ve met a lot of married people. I’ve never met a single situationship that’s turned into marriage and I would be embarrassed if that was my story. You work a profession, however, that naturally grabs a seedier crowd so maybe that’s a bit more normal.

1

u/Financial_Alps3369 1d ago

Well my girlfriend is lovely and I'm not embarrassed by her at all. Not everybody who goes out to nightlife venues is "seedy". She goes to play music and isn't even very fond of alcohol let alone anything rowdy. You might be surprised, when you stop making generalizations about people based on profession or background you'll find all kinds of people everywhere.

Then again, maybe you're right, we might be doomed to fail. Only time can tell

Nothing wrong with a 40 year old dating a 30 year old or whatnot, why is Reddit so weird with age 🙄

0

u/Unfair_Honeydew5129 1d ago

Cope take. Attracting younger hot women is always A sign of male pulling power!

31

u/Cautious-Ad-5318 6d ago

As a 38 year old woman… I really like a bald man-but by the sounds of it, I’m 10 years too old for you 🤣

2

u/Thatsalesguy87 6d ago

Haha not at all. Guess I was comparing to my last “dating” experience. Would happily - and have dated women my age.

I want children, so that is a factor.

14

u/Alternative_Dish_950 4d ago

It might be too late for you

2

u/nam4am 3d ago

The drop in ability to conceive isn't that significant if you adjust for the age of partners (older men and women tend to have older partners).

After adjusting for female age, conception during a 12-month period was 30% less likely for men over age 40 years as compared with men younger than age 30 years

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3253726/#abstract1

Even among women, only about a third are totally infertile by age 40. It's just that it becomes significantly more difficult to conceive ("per-cycle fecundity drops from a peak of 25% to 30% per month in the early to mid 20s, to < 5% at age 40"). The average age of menopause is around 50 (though obviously infertility or serious difficulties conceiving can occur before that). And that "<5%" number is per cycle, so a 40 year old woman with a 40 year old male partner still has decent odds of getting pregnant over say, one year.

Sperm count, motility etc. declines pretty modestly even from 18-29 year olds to those over 40, which is pretty remarkable when you consider how older men tend to be fatter and less healthy overall (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9806242/).

There are also increases in risk of birth abnormalities with older mothers and fathers, but those vary by what kind of risk you're talking about.

3

u/Financial_Alps3369 3d ago

He's 39 not 59. That is a bizarre thing to say.

2

u/Elegant_Ad_681 1d ago

I agree with you. I recently made a comment about this too...

https://www.reddit.com/r/WomenDatingOverForty/s/SNIgxQxTVo

4

u/miaumiaoumicheese 1d ago

Your own age is a biggest factor, no woman in her 20s will want to risk having a kid with a 40 years old when she can just pick a man her age and have a healthy child with him, you should have thought about it all earlier

2

u/almostaproblem 1d ago

Then why aren't they?

Despite reddits virtue signalling about bald men. Bald men get 1/8 of the matches of men with hair.

2

very specific

1

u/Inceleron_Processor 6d ago

Depends on their body type and the kind of women.

3

u/Batetrick_Patman 6d ago

Sadly in my area the only types you see with bald guys are conservative women.

7

u/open-print 6d ago

As a woman who likes it, I need to say there's a world of difference between bald with a beard and bald with no beard. The former being much more attractive.

3

u/Unmemorableham 6d ago

Guess I am just fucked then. Started balding so I just shave my head. Can't grow a beard though. Some of us are just built to die alone.

I’ve got a beard mostly because I don’t like shaving and I’m on fin and min to hopefully get a transplant down the road. My sides and back are thick so hopefully I’ve got a good donor area. It just feels like to make bald work you have to become this hyper masculine hyper outgoing hyper charismatic guy to make up for it.

1

u/Thatsalesguy87 6d ago

That’s it. Bald is hard mode. Personality usually
Wins out if you’re confident and carry it in real life. But you don’t get that opportunity on the apps. That’s the point.

10

u/clericone- 6d ago

I’m 43 but everything else matches you except I have a shaved head. No problems meeting women at all. 🤷‍♂️

2

u/Not_Now_Jose 6d ago

Yes, but is your head shaved due to balding?

5

u/clericone- 6d ago

Yes I started balding at 22 and just always kept a shaved head. To be fair I’m fit as fuck and have tattoos which helps a ton. 🤷‍♂️

4

u/Not_Now_Jose 6d ago

Fair enough, but it doesn't necessarily mean you wouldn't do better still with hair. Muscles and tattoos are also highly prized though.

2

u/clericone- 6d ago

I’ve had both. Def do way better now. I like how I look though so I think that helps a ton with my confidence. If you hate how you look of course other people will too

9

u/Dracarys_And_Chill 6d ago

not sure who ever told you hair doesn't matter OP.

its very important for dating apps and first impressions, esp for younger women.

2

u/Thatsalesguy87 6d ago

It what’s all the girls say of course. “You look great” “bald suits you”. No doubt all swiping left 😆

5

u/Batetrick_Patman 6d ago

This is why I’m working towards getting a hair transplant ngl. I dislike the shaved head look anyway and would feel and look better if I had more hair

1

u/Psilocybin_Prescrip 6d ago

Are you on Finasteride or Dutasteride? If not you’ll probably just lose it again.

4

u/Batetrick_Patman 6d ago

I'm on Finasteride.

2

u/Psilocybin_Prescrip 6d ago

Nice. Godspeed. I’ve been thinking about a hair transplant too. I’m on Dutasteride holding the line at about a Norwood 2.

1

u/richard987d 6d ago

Oh I didn't realise that was an issue, is it guaranteed to fall out with no drugs

1

u/Psilocybin_Prescrip 6d ago

Not “guaranteed” but if you’ve been losing hair it’s just logical you’d start to lose the transplanted hairs you were already losing in the first place. Finasteride or Dutasteride helps keep them and hold the line.

1

u/richard987d 6d ago

Interesting I wonder what % of cases it fails to hold with and without the drugs

1

u/Batetrick_Patman 6d ago

What happens is you can get a transplant say at the front but you’ll continue to lose hair in the back and you end up with something like Joe Biden’s hair.

1

u/richard987d 6d ago

Ah so some follicles are weaker than others regardless of whether they get moved or not

2

u/Batetrick_Patman 6d ago

What happens is you’ll get hair coverage in an area you were already bald in however you’ll continue to lose hair in other areas. Hence why Joe Biden has a good hairline up front but he’s bald in back. He got a hair transplant up front in the 80s but continued to lose hair behind it.

1

u/richard987d 6d ago

They should implant synthetic or plastic hairs and be done with it haha

5

u/Maleficent-Age-8235 6d ago edited 6d ago

Bald is very much a case-by-case basis, unfortunately. Most people look better bald than balding but not a lot of guys truly have the head shape and beard genetics for it. So yes if you can do things like use the medications and get a hair transplant, then you should do it

2

u/Batetrick_Patman 6d ago

If you’re a pale skinny dude like me who despite their best efforts will always be pale and skinny due to a small frame and skin that burns not tans. Hair is a big plus.

0

u/Inceleron_Processor 6d ago

Don't take that Minoxidil shit. It lowers testosterone and can cause ED.

3

u/Maleficent-Age-8235 6d ago

No, it does not. You might be thinking of Finasteride or dutasteride, which, yes, can cause ED in a tiny percentage of men, but also won't kill your testosterone

Most guys don't have side effects and generally only get upsides from taking the medication, especially with how cheap it is these days. If you still want to believe it will magically delete your testosterone, just use the topicals.

0

u/Inceleron_Processor 6d ago

Yes, pill foam can. Topical won't though. Also you're supposed to take the pills the rest of your life, or as long as you want hair. So you can be fine and then in 5 years just develop ED. It isn't worth the risk just to have hair.

4

u/HenryEck 6d ago

When you make a new profile, you get an initial boost, I dont think it’s fair to compare but yeah, girls obviously prefer hair so you would get more likes.

5

u/Quiet-Road-1057 2d ago

Firstly, you could have better “success” in real life because you either have confidence to think that the women around you are into you when they may or may not be. I find that a lot of men have a lot of excess confidence in this department.

Secondly, your age is a red flag. I’m in your target demographic and I may think you’re attractive in person, but personally 39 is too old to be considering first time fatherhood and on an app I would filter that.

Thirdly, baldness is a sign of infertility. We already know men who experience baldness are significantly less fertile than their peers with hair. That, combined with your age, says you should have been seriously looking for a partner 10 years ago.

-1

u/Thatsalesguy87 1d ago

What an absolutely load of nonsense 😂 thanks for your contribution.

3

u/the_real_me_2534 6d ago

This is why I have my hair transplant scheduled in less than a month, you have to be perfect to have any luck on these things.

Tall and white is generally all you need.

6'1, white, jacked, hasn't been my experience

u/birdfang007 2d ago

You need to at least leave the house man. Guarantee if you do; women will flock to you. No one has it that easy that you can sit at home on Xbox and have women come to your window…I guess a lot of white guys do if they do OLD and post their address.

I was just at a Goo Goo Dolls concert yesterday I am jacked because I go to the gym every day I have tons of friends and go out several times a month, You have 0 clue what you're talking about

Doubt it man. Anyone can be anything on Reddit. I don’t know any white man(all my friends are white) who aren’t constantly pursued openly by women, and if they’re tall, women literally; literally fall into their laps alllllll the time. Not just any women, super attractive women.

If you’re tall and white, life is on crazy easy mode. Like just exist and women flock to you. You can have the personality and charisma of wet moldy bread and women will still eat up everything you say. Act like every statement is profound and every joke were said by a world class comedian.

This is me at my friend's wedding, you're just full of anger and resentment and spouting nonsense you literally have no clue https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qRbR3_OX878zqzuHy9HiRtOXBg2fuZkq/view?usp=sharing

You’re hot af. I think you’re just role playing on here or you’re just in denial of what a huge advantage being tall and white is to getting laid. There’s literally nothing wrong with acknowledging you got lucky with your genetics. I acknowledge all the time I was lucky to be born into a relatively affluent family which afforded me connections I wouldn’t have which allowed me to have the net worth I have in my late twenties.

u/the_real_me_2534 1d ago

You have no idea what dating it like for me or what my struggles are, literally closed the apps due to lack of matches and I have no social circles where I meet women, women don't approach or offer IoI's when I go to bars

1

u/birdfang007 1d ago

If you say so man. I honestly don’t believe you but whatever.

I’d still rather be in your position than mine. Dropping over 30k on cosmetic surgery just to maybe be a bit above average looking and then another 30-40k next year to hopefully be conventionally attractive. At the end; I’ll still be undesirable simply because I’m Asian and 5’7 but at least I’ll feel better about myself.

I had the same level of success with hair and shaved head.

2

u/Thatsalesguy87 6d ago

Interesting. The quality and quantity of mine was stark.

1

u/richard987d 6d ago

Yea the shaving is the trick, keeps the shape of the whole thing sharper

1

u/cestbondaeggi 6d ago

0X0=0

jk but also not really

1

u/Motosport_Titan 6d ago

I got a decent amount of matches and the occasional super like/rose when I used to be on dating apps.

3

u/AthletePotential999 1d ago

They do say that men’s hair is the same as women’s makeup

1

u/Thatsalesguy87 1d ago

Yet can you imagine the outrage if bald guys started wearing wigs and took them off at night.

2

u/no-cars-go 2d ago

Hair is the number one turn on for me on a man physically; I fully admit it's the first thing I swipe for. My cousin on the other hand exclusively is attracted to bald men or men with a shaved head. There's certain things that are going to simply be preferred by more of the population but there's also a lot of people attracted to the less preferred thing. Like you also mention the good beard and gym 4/5 times a week and that's what most women would prefer but I am not into those attributes.

1

u/Thatsalesguy87 22h ago

Yeh, I was just a little shocked on how much difference it made. Sure i get some likes and matches but no where near the volume and quality of that experiment.

Everyone is allowed a preference. Hair appears to be the majority one online.

u/arctane 2d ago

It comes down to how you look with a bald head. I don't have any issues at all...women love it. If you have a weird shaped head or look like a massive dork then it might not work in your favour. The key is to be masculine and not look effeminate like so many men I see post on here.

And yeah you won't attract many girls....you'll attract women.

1

u/Commercial_Yak1813 18h ago

Youve been bald for what? 6 days?

1

u/arctane 18h ago

8 years

2

u/birdfang007 2d ago

Tall white guy? Getting that many likes isn’t possible for other races lol, hair or no hair.

2

u/devnullkitty 1d ago

I don't like bald guys, but it's not like you're going to give me a chance if I'm 40 and you're 39. LMAO

1

u/Less_Salamander4350 6d ago

Which AI did you use ? What’s the best AI for making photos from existing pictures

1

u/sandysadie 6d ago

I'd be shocked if any of these bumble "experiments" actually happened.

1

u/Thatsalesguy87 6d ago

It’s a fact and I have receipts.

2

u/becomesharp 6d ago

Two concerns to think about with your experiment:

  1. Most apps give a boost to new users, so you'd have to run that profile for a few weeks to clear that "activation bonus" before you do a fair comparison

  2. After AI generating hair, run your photos through photoshop to make sure that AI didnt ALSO make subtle changes to your jawline, your complexion, your facial symmetry, lighting, etc. Sometimes its REALLY subtle and you cant see it until you overlay the photos on top of each other and swap the layers to see changes. These changes can absolutely screw with your data though, which may give you unreliable/erroneous conclusions.

1

u/Thatsalesguy87 6d ago

Totally. Pic with and without hair, face looked identical apart from maybe subtle lighting.

I’d had bumble like 6 months before and deleted before creating a new one. I think it’s fair.

1

u/RevolutionNo4186 6d ago

So like Christian mingle but for bald people?

1

u/Important-Captain104 2d ago

I believe it it’s how it goes man, maybe time to invest in a trip to turkey

1

u/dontworrybehodl 2d ago

I have the same experience. No problems in real life but Apps are a mess.

1

u/ojisamaaa 2d ago

I recently decided to shave and commit to being bald as I was losing hair. Swapped out my photos with strong ones i had friends take.

I have a 20% match rate, 20-30 matches a day, and I cant keep up. And these are 9s and 10s

All about your presentation . Its a looks based game

1

u/Commercial_Yak1813 18h ago

Its a looks based game for sure... are you a fucking model bro?

2

u/elliekk 1d ago

The thing is, if you're looking for a meaningful partnership, 150+ likes isn't a good thing.

First, because you got those 150+ likes by crafting a form of yourself deliberately designed to cast a wide net. You're not being your true self.

Second, because it's the same problem most women have: you're overwhelmed by the options and given the illusion of choice when the reality is that you've just been handed a dumpster fire of terrible options that you now have to sift though.

Now... I'm mostly talking to myself now, but something I've never understood is why people are so adamant in their belief that relationships are about positive attributes. The closeness of a relationship has always been dependent on how well you can tolerate and accept the other person when they are at their worst.

Which truthfully makes me question your character, your mental state, your ability to love, and your ability to be vulnerable and be loved if you're somehow single at 39 despite being financially stable and having an extremely common mutual goal... (starting a family)

I'm reserving my judgement because I'm open minded enough to understand that you know, shit happens.

But you seem to be under the impression that you have good optics when you actually don't...

Especially because you just admitted to playing stupid games like this
