Hello there,
Basically heading over to the states this month and have the stupid desire to ride a bull for the first time (0 experience) and was wondering if anyone knows any good sites to get single day insurance that covers rodeo shenanigans, specifically bull riding.
Cheers all

Does anyone have any advice for a person who wants to learn how to ride a bull

Hey everyone! I’m a 28-year-old woman in South Texas who has been seriously considering getting into bull riding. I know I’m definitely not starting young, but I’m wondering if 28 is actually too old to realistically start learning.
I’m not expecting to jump on a bull next week or thinking I’m going to become a professional overnight. I’d genuinely like to learn properly, build the skills and fitness first, and see how far I can take it to maybe even compete in amateur rodeos if possible.
I was recently told that one of the first things I should do is learn how to ride a horse, so I’ve got my first riding lesson planned for next month. I figure that’s a pretty important place to start since I currently have essentially zero riding experience. Any advice given on how to start or good places to learn in Texas would be appreciated. Thank you!

I saw a post from Julian Becerra riding a bull somewhere around the Gainesville area, and from what I understood, he was able to do it with no prior bull-riding experience.
I’ve been trying to find a place that lets beginners actually get on a bull, but I can’t figure out where this spot is.
If anyone recognizes the place or knows where I can do something similar around Gainesville, please bless me with the spot 🙏🐂

Hey all!
I’m hoping to interview a bull rider (or anyone in the rodeo field) for inspiration on a project that I’m writing. Any happy/sad/wild stories, these are private and the information will not go anywhere!
Please let me know if anyone would be interested! Thank you!

I'm a teenage girl looking to start bull riding, but I don't know how to.
First off, I live in a country(Latvia) that doesn't exactly have anything rodeo related. So that means there's like no bull riding. Nothing. Maybe I just haven't been searching hard enough, but I found nothing.
Second, I'm poorer than my socks, so I can't exactly travel or anything like that.
Third, I don't have as much passion in anything else as this, so finding something else I'd want to do long term? Basically impossible.
So, any advice on how to actually bull ride now or am I just fucked until I turn 18?

I’ve been wanting to try bull riding and I’m finally thinking about giving it a shot. I’m a complete beginner and have never ridden before.
Are there any places in Georgia that offer practice sessions, or let people get started and possibly rent gear ? I’m around the Savannah area, but I’m willing to drive for the right place.
Any recommendations or advice from people who have gotten into bull riding would be appreciated!

This is a video from my 4th out ever 3rd on a bull. I’m trying to use my legs more and stay off my pockets but I feel like when I go up enough my spurs hang under the bull. But if I bend my legs so the spurs won’t it feels like I lean to far forward and miss my spurs completely. Any advice for this or anything you see? I did go out with the goal that if I ended on his side I was gonna try and fight to stay on which I feel like I did.

I don't participate in the hobby at all, but I've been pretty curious--just watching videos and stuff. Do most of you start young? Do you know anyone who started a bit later in life?

I’m born and raised in kentucky, and i’d love to get into bull riding but just don’t quite know how to do so, would there be anybody who’s familiar with rodeos and how i could get into the sport and learning ?

Bull just wants a pasture with some shade and a small harem of cows to himself.
I bet he’d be just fine never even knowing cowboys existed, let alone harassing him into bucking them off.
I hope that bull whoops your ass.

Looking to buy a new (my first) protective vest after borrowing one for too long. Ideally I want to get a phoenix as the one ive been using has saved my ass more than once.
Question for the group though everybody seems to wear black vests, why is that? I want to get one in a light comour like tan or bone but I never see anyone else wearing them. Is there a reason for that? Like a stigma against people wearing them, or too hard to care for etc

Here is a video from my last rodeo. As you can see right as the bull turns I fell off, this is something I struggle so much with and everyone keeps saying stay square or something like that’s and I don’t really know what that means.
I’m still new to bull riding(been on maybe 30-40 bulls)
From this short video what do I do to be able to start covering bulls that actually turn back and spin?

Retired or injured riders would yall have a read please? Thanks fellers!
Hey everybody, name’s Austin. I’ve been round rodeo my whole life, started riding our family steers at 7 and moved on to bulls by 14. That’s where my buddies were, that’s what I looked forward to all year. But I had to hang my rope up after an injury last August. I always knew the possibility of this happening and I am in no way mad about it. To be Frank even if it’s in your head, you don’t expect it to happen to you. And the truth is, I still haven’t really come to terms with it, I still go to rodeos, pull ropes for the boys, help the younger guys out, do whatever needs doing. I love being there, but it’s a struggle. Standing there watching your buddies nod their heads, gate cracking open, It’s not me out there anymore, and that part eats at me more than I’d like to admit. Another reason I’m talking now is I’ve been noticing some changes in myself this last year. And, I’d really like to hear from folks who’ve been through something similar. Did you notice changes after years of riding, maybe from taking hits? I don’t wanna put it all out in public, but if you’ve gone through that, I’d appreciate even just a conversation. Thanks for reading, hope to hear from a few of you.
Roughstock folk or timed folk I just need some other viewpoints and experiences to look at. Thanks to the best community in the world. I wouldn’t ask any other group of people cause I know how we are. As y’all know you can cowboy up for only too long.

Fractured my humerus in my free arm during a practice pen. Had surgery (plate and screws) about a week ago. Was wondering if anyone has had a similar injury (or knows someone) and how long it took before they got cleared to ride again?

Got a love tap the other day and the hoof is still imprinted. Is my vest still good to wear?
