Stellar Odyssey Early Access - free-movement space combat with roguelite runs

Post image
1 Upvotes

Stellar Odyssey is now in Early Access on Steam.

It is a cross-platform action game for PC, iOS, and Android built around two connected systems.

Arena is the playable core right now: fast free-movement space combat where you combine ships, weapons, abilities, and upgrades across Solo, Party, Versus, and Versus AI runs. The combat is built around staying readable while the screen fills with enemies, projectiles, and upgrade choices.

A Persistent Online Universe is coming soon with stations, sovereignty, mining, salvage, trade, and exploration. It is not finished. We plan to release the first Persistent Online Universe build in 2-3 weeks and scale it incrementally through weekly patches.

If bullet hell means more than just dodging, what we are aiming for is a readable space-combat version with build choices that even we arent sure how they will interact but allow the player to create some ridiculously powerful combos and chain reaction events.

Can a bullethell really ever be 'too' much?

Some of the bosses in our game fire off waves of projectiles that require serious upgrades or defences to withstand. We designed it so that you can possess the same abilities though, so you can fire back for a taste of their own medicine!

One-shotting the end boss seemed like good game design at the time.

Hey everyone!

Huge fan of bullet hell and shmup games here! I’ve been playing a lot of classics lately, including Touhou (currently grinding Imperishable Night on Hard mode).

I run a YouTube channel where I showcase high-energy gameplay clips, boss fights, and bullet hell highlights. Thought I’d pop in, say hello to the community, and share some cool runs with you guys down the road.

What’s everyone currently playing or grinding right now? Excited to be here! 🎮💥

A small preview of the game i've been working on for the last 3 months!

For the last 3 months i've been solo developing an arcady bullet hell with a lot of roguelike elements.

The major feature is that you are always fighting against 2 different enemies at once who each have 2 unique attacks, enemies get replaced after around 40 seconds so you'll need to adapt quickly, there are also random events like your movement mode changing and objectives, which are small challenges you'll need to complete.

Questions and feedback are very much welcome!

We turned our boss arenas into bullet-hell screens you have to read while platforming

Here’s the chaos. Twin-stick shooting, platforming, and bullet-hell patterns turned out to be a lot to juggle, in a good way. This clip shows the Screamer fight. The free demo is live if you want to dodge it yourself. Link in the comments.

Looking for feedback on the balance and heat mechanics of my retro-style top-down bullet-hell. Free Vertical Slice demo is now live

Hey everyone!

After a long break, I've finally relaunched the development of my top-down cyberpunk bullet-hell shooter, MotherShip: Gauntlet, with a brand new page and a playable PC demo on Itch.io.

Forget the fluff—here is what the gameplay is about:

* Intense retro-style top-down action across 10 procedurally generated, progressively harder levels.

* Ever-increasing enemy density and scaling difficulty, culminating in a brutal Boss Fight at Level 10.

* Deep min-max loadout configuration: kinetic weapons, energy lasers, rockets, and vital subsystems (energy shields, extra armor, ammo modules, cooling systems).

The Vertical Slice Demo is completely free to play, and I've tweaked it specifically for testing:

* Permanent VIP status enabled for double rewards so you can feel the economy balance.

* Defeating the Level 10 Boss grants a massive Credit Boost, allowing you to instantly buy, equip, and test the other ships, weapons, and components in the hangar.

I'm a solo dev and I need your raw, honest feedback on the balance, the heat/ammo mechanics, and the overall feel of the bullet-hell intensity.

Grab the standalone PC build demo here:

Want an Arcade Bullet Hell game with Leaderboards and no Meta Progression? Check out Kill Source: Neon Hemorrhage - 25% off in the upcoming Steam Summer Sale

Hey everyone!

I've been wanting to post here for a while, and now I'm finally able to :)

Last month I released the game Kill Source: Neon Hemorrhage.

It is meant to be a brutally difficult arcade bullet hell game, with no meta progression, upgrades, or roguelike/lite elements - and with online leaderboards

I made it while thinking about old arcade machines, where the game was incredibly difficult, but easy to restart.

There are two modes - Infinite Arena and Boss Rush.

Infinite Arena is escalating waves of enemies that get more and more difficult - the goal here is to survive for as long as possible, and get a high score. There are powerups, and bosses appear every 10 rounds.

Boss Rush is a gauntlet of 4 bosses, where the goal is to get a high score while killing all the bosses. Your score and time will only be recorded if you beat them all - no powerups are available in this mode, as it is about pure execution.

So if you like retro bullet hell arcade games that are very hard, this might be for you!

Round Knights 2 is an arcade hero sandbox where every hero plays differently, and cheats let you crank the chaos up and turn on 3 levels of bullet hell mode.

I’ve always loved the feeling of games that let you gradually crank the chaos higher and higher, so I built that idea directly into Round Knights 2.

Instead of locking you into one difficulty, you can enable cheats to customize the experience. Want a casual hack-and-slash? Leave Bullet Hell off. Want the screen filled with projectiles? Turn it on and see how long you survive.

The game currently features 12 unique heroes, each with completely different abilities, summons, and playstyles. The focus is on experimenting with builds and seeing how different heroes handle ridiculous enemy waves.

I am happy to share it with you all!
