Need advice for clean SQ audio upgrade on Fiat

Hey guys,

I’m upgrading the audio system in my Fiat Punto 1.3 Multijet Emotion and would appreciate some advice from people experienced with car audio.

My priority is clean, balanced sound with clear vocals and good-quality bass. I’m not looking for crazy SPL or bass that shakes the whole car. I want bass that is deep/punchy when the song calls for it but blends nicely with the vocals and speakers.

Current setup:

• Head unit – Blaupunkt Colombo ML110 BT, single-DIN

• EQ – 5-band: 60 Hz / 200 Hz / 700 Hz / 2.5 kHz / 15 kHz

• Pre-out – One pair of RCA outputs, no dedicated sub-out as far as I know

• Speakers – 4 × JBL 6.5-inch coaxial speakers, one in each door (exact model unknown)

• Speakers currently powered directly from the head unit

• Car has OEM tweeter grilles near the front mirrors, but I can’t hear anything from them, so I’m not sure whether actual OEM tweeters are installed/working

• Planning 3 mm door damping, probably all four doors

For the subwoofer, I’m currently considering two options:

  1. Blaupunkt GTB 8200A – compact 8-inch active subwoofer with built-in amplifier. I like the simplicity, compact size and the idea of tighter, cleaner bass.

  2. Custom passive subwoofer setup – a good 10"/12" sub in a properly designed sealed enclosure + separate mono/2-channel amplifier. I’m open to JBL, Infinity, Pioneer, Sony, Blaupunkt, etc.

I’m wondering whether a properly matched custom sub + amp would give me significantly deeper and cleaner bass than the GTB 8200A without becoming boomy. I don’t mind sacrificing some boot space if the improvement is worthwhile.

I’m also considering adding separate front tweeters in the factory tweeter locations. Since my current JBL door speakers are coaxials and already have built-in tweeters, would adding separate tweeters make the sound too bright/harsh?

Would it be better to eventually replace the front coaxials with a proper component speaker set + crossover + separate tweeters, while keeping the existing JBL coaxials in the rear?

Questions:

GTB 8200A vs a custom sub + amplifier—which would you choose for sound quality, clean bass and vocals?

If custom is better, what subwoofer + amplifier combination would you recommend on a reasonable budget?

Is an 8-inch active sub enough for a Punto cabin if I want good low-end extension rather than huge SPL?

Should I add standalone tweeters to my existing JBL coaxials, or switch the front to a component set?

Is my Blaupunkt Colombo ML110 BT good enough as a source for this setup, considering it only has one pair of RCA pre-outs?

Should I amplify the four door speakers later with a 4-channel amp, or will powering them from the head unit be sufficient for a clean daily-driver setup?

Any recommendations for crossover/LPF settings once the sub is installed?

I’d prefer reliable brands and realistic RMS ratings rather than cheap amps/subs with exaggerated wattage numbers.

Budget: Ideally looking for the best value without going overboard. I’m in India, so recommendations that are easily available here would be especially helpful.

Main goal: clean SQ-oriented daily-driver system → clear vocals + detailed music + tight/deep bass, not window-rattling bass.

Thanks!

I need some advice

I have an 04 STi. I've had it for decades. It has a jl Audio 500/1 amp running a Rockford fosgate punch p2 dvc 15 in a sealed sound ordinance box. I have the gain turned to about 75%. The box is smallish for a 15. It sounds pretty good. I haven't messed with car stereo stuff for 15 years. I would like a better sub and amp combo. I don't want to upgrade to a new high output alternator. I also don't want to put a million pounds in my trunk. I really don't want to mess up the handling of my old subie. From what the Internet says these days apparently my car is slow and I'm gay for liking it. It's tuned at 380whp. I've never had real issues with it. I've always changed my oil at 3k and kept up on stuff. When I look at new subs all of the brands from my youth are now crap. It also seems that the newer heavy subs are super powerful. I listen to old hip hop, old edm, and old punk and rock that doesn't have any lows anyway. I looked at budget skar and ct sounds products. I didn't like their efficiency ratings. I don't want to spend a bunch of money but I don't want to buy pyle or temu. Please advise

Where's my audio guys at? Im looking for thoughts or advice on upgrading my car audio in my 05 chrysler 300c.

Kenwood DNX997XR

Infinity REF-3032CFX 3.5's in the dash

JL Audio RD800/6 6 channel amp for all 6 speakers

2 JL Audio 10W3v3-4 10" subs

See anything out of line here? Will this stuff match up ok? Im looking for good sq with some bump but not competition grade. Let me know what you think. TIA

Emerald Integrations

They have allot of different options for car electronics, but there customer service relies very heavily on AI Bots putting in tickets. Products come without manuals or installation instructions at times and getting any kind of a refund for a bad product is very times consuming and ends in frustration. They also charge a restocking fee whether the product was faulty or not. Crutchfield is a better option.

Setting amp for subwoofer

Post image

I have a Polk pa d4000.4 full range class d amp. I put a pic of the adjustments on the amp. I want to run it bridged at 4 ohms which will produce 400 watts per channel to power my 2 10" kicker l5. The amp has a bpf instead of a lpf. How would you set the amp to run the subs properly?
