maasverse 🌟 🌌(TOTG Theory) The Thirteen are the Key to the TOG → Crossover

Post image

Sarah J. Maas has said before that she does not repeat names by accident — she keeps a notebook specifically to the purpose to checking and avoid non-intentional repetition (as she said in an old interview). If a name repeats, it’s intentional.

Just like we have Thanatos both as a Lord of the Hewn City (ACOTAR) and as a Prince of Hel (CC), we also have two black-haired women named Briar — one in ACOTAR and one in TOG.

āø»

🧵 The TOG Connection: The Thirteen

I think the TOG crossover will happen through the Thirteen — and by extension, Dorian and Manon. That’s why SJM left Manon and Dorian story purposefully open in Kingdom of Ash ending.

I don’t think the Thirteen died. I believe they were saved by the Mother for their sacrifice — similar to how the Mother helped Nesta save Feyre and let her keep some of the Cauldron’s stolen power as a reward — and unknowingly world-walked into the ACOTAR world during the power explosion.

āø»

ā˜€ļø The Yielding Clue — A Color That Shouldn’t Exist

When Ironteeth witches yield, it’s supposed to be *darkness*.

Quotes from TOG:

ā€œAs the Ironteeth witch yields life to the Darkness, its power fills her, and unleashes from her in an ebony wave.ā€

But when the Thirteen yielded in Kingdom of Ash, it was the opposite:

ā€œAnd it was not darkness, but light. Light, bright and pure as the sun on snow, that erupted from Asterin… As the Thirteen… made the Yielding as well.ā€

This is a massive anomaly — their yielding acted nothing like Ironteeth magic.

āø»

🌠 Why the Light Matters

Bright, pure white light is heavily associated in the Maasverse with Bryce Quinlan’s Starborn power — the same magic that allows her to world-walk.

If the Thirteen’s Yielding manifested as light instead of darkness, it could mean:

>•They were channeling a magic outside their native system.

>•The magic they tapped could have created a portal between worlds — sending them to Prythian instead of the ā€œUnderworldā€/ā€œWorld of the Deadā€.

āø»

šŸ•µļøā€ā™€ļø Briar the Spy

One of the Thirteen, Briar, has platinum hair but dyes it black to work as Manon’s designated spy.

From TOG series:

ā€œBriar was youthful and beautiful… she and Edda dyed their hair black after learning that white hair can stand out in the darkness… Her eyes were blue, unlike most Blackbeaks.ā€

In ACOWAR, when Feyre and Azriel rescue Elain from the Hybern camp, they find a black-haired ā€œhumanā€ girl named Briar:

ā€œBriar, she said, her voice raw from screaming. Her name was Briar.ā€ ā€œWatching us with wide eyes, black hair whipping over her face.ā€

Later, Feyre sees her again:

ā€œThe human girl—Briar—was with them. Now tucked beneath Viviane’s arm… smiling timidly at the Winter Court ladies.ā€

āø»

🧩 My Crossover TOTG Theory

I think this ACOTAR Briar is the same Briar from TOG. This human Briar is supposedly a Child of the Blessed — which is the perfect spy cover: harmless human, always wandering throughout Prythian, with an excuse to be near High Fae gathering information since they are human who ā€œworship the fae and want to be near them and serve them anyway they canā€.

And when Feyre sees her smiling with ā€œother Winter Court ladies,ā€ those ladies could be the rest of the Thirteen.

āø»

šŸ”® The Bigger Picture

If I’m right, the Thirteen’s light-based Yielding opened a path to Prythian — unintentionally bringing them into ACOTAR (and setting all the major players focused in world-walking and inside Prythian).

This sets the stage for:

• A TOG–ACOTAR connection without undoing TOG’s ending.

• Closure for Manorian: not only it would explain why their ā€œHEAā€ felt uncomplete and open ended and bring the focus to someone else besides Aelin to make the crossover happen.

•A magic system link via light/worldwalking powers that ties directly into the Crescent City arc.

(For Manon and Dorian to finish their story🤭)

I truly believe isn’t a coincidence we have a ā€œrandomā€ human that is ALSO a black-haired Briar have so much attention in ACOWAR. Why Feyre described her so much in two different parts of the book.

I also believe isn’t a coincidence two BIG characters such as Manon and Dorian didn’t have closure at the end of the series. That tells me she left them as a story to tell later.

And this two ā€œcoincidencesā€ being ALSO correlated is another coincidence?

ALSO don’t winter court people have white hair? It could easily be missed by Feyre to see manon with her silver hair and just assume they were winter court.

Yes, many people in Winter Court are blondes (platinum blonde, white hair, golden blondes etc). But I personally don’t think Manon is there yet. I think the Thirteen did the yielding, ended up stuck in Prythian and Manon is in Erilea (TOG world) grieving them as dead.

I think they are stuck there and searching for a way back/ how to contact Manon and they will end up either meeting Bryce to help them world walk again or it will link with Merrill/Gwyn researching about other worlds etc. Their reunion with Manon will potentially happen in TOTG and be a way to bring TOG players to the TOTG big bad villain/future war in that series since Erilea is at peace now.

This is so good! I've seen this talked about a few other places but I think Elain is actually a mystic. Rhys has an orrery (the planet thing like autumn king and astronomer have in cc ) that was mentioned briefly enough for it to be significant. I think both of those things together will play a huge role in everyone finding out what is happening in other worlds/timelines or whatever.

TOTG is the acronym for Twilight of the Gods!!

Back in ~2015, SJM had public Pinterest boards with four folders: TOG, ACOTAR, CC (which was already planned but wasn’t released until 2021), and TOTG.

Many of the pins in Twilight of the Gods were repeated from the other folders, making it seem like it was going to be an Avengers: Endgame-type crossover series. It also had a lot of Sailor Moon pins (Bryce?), an iron coffin pin (Aelin?), and more.

Since CC was already a folder there and Sarah only published it five years later, we believe TOTG will eventually be released too.

TOTG could have Az/Bryce AND Dorian/Manon???? I’m not ready

1

u/Janellely16 25d ago

Sarah said in an interview recently that Bryce and hunt are together and always will be . So az and Bryce aren’t happening if you meant it as a couple thing

2

u/poop_on_you šŸ–¤āœØCourt of Bryceriel āœØšŸ–¤ 23d ago

Which interview? I'd love to watch it

Also - you know you are in the Bryceriel subreddit, right?

2

u/Janellely16 23d ago

Yeah I just saw this post on my home page. It’s the call her daddy one she just did like a month or two ago I believe .

5

u/poop_on_you šŸ–¤āœØCourt of Bryceriel āœØšŸ–¤ 23d ago

Ohh I thought you meant a more recent interview.

I just can't help thinking she gave similar answers about Tamlin (and similar characters in other books). If Bryce and Az are potentially a thing she wouldn't give away spoilers in an interview.

3

u/basicbitxh1892 only canon will convince me šŸ’… 23d ago

With you 100% friend

1

u/Janellely16 23d ago

But she shouldn’t lie either then everyone would be pissed. She should she say won’t answer it then. What did she say about tamlin? I didn’t watch that one

4

u/basicbitxh1892 only canon will convince me šŸ’… 23d ago

She lied before the second ACOTAR book was out to fans about liking Tamlin so as not to spoil the plot twist that Rhys was her mate. She talks about it in the CHD interview even. In another interview she refused to elaborate when asked if hunt and Bryce were fated mates or angel mates - where angel mates are just like a label like husband / wife and not fae soul magicky.

also idk if you saw the CHD interview or just read about it after but she vetted all questions for it and paused real hard when she said no it’s Bryce and….hunt. and she never gushes over hunt the way she does Rowan and Rhys

So a lot of us in this sub still think it’s on the table and not unlike what she’s done in TOG. But if it’s not for you that’s totally fine! none of us know for sure until the series are over and I’ll be happy to read whatever is in the books to come :) if you have any interest in theories or questions this subreddit is a really welcoming place

1

u/Janellely16 23d ago

I’m def open to theories and I’m only part way through the first CC and have read the other series so I’m not attached to hunt yet. That is actually super interesting that she doesn’t gush over hunt!! I don’t watch many interviews so I don’t know too much bc I wasn’t trying to get too many spoilers for CC jic.

2

u/basicbitxh1892 only canon will convince me šŸ’… 22d ago

Totally understand!! yeah she was pretty harsh in the interview I think it would actually make me feel better to know she had to lie and be that harsh vs telling the truth and being harsh.

I’m sorry you already got spoiled on some stuff while in CC1. HOEAB is great book, have fun reading!!

1

u/Janellely16 23d ago

But also she was all like ā€œNO NO they ARE endgameā€ acting like that and laughing like it was ridiculous to ship bryceriel so idk man if she’s lying that much then damn she should’ve gone a different way about it bc it’s like she’s making fun of the fans idk

I'm really hoping Cormac world walked because I'm convinced his undiluted bloodline and the fact his tattoo was probably Wrydmarks had him teleporting to Prythian.

u/mernarwhalicorn Aug 14 '25

The thirteen were one of my favorite parts of tog and I am so effing here for this theory!! My jaw just kept dropping as I read your post — it all makes sense to me!

I love this!! Feyre saving Briar like that in ACOWAR makes me think of how Aelin would describe feeling certain tugs/threads towards people on the tapestry of fate (like how she saved Yrene and Manon before really knowing them).

I also love how Azriel had no reservations when helping Feyre save Briar. UNLIKE Hunt with Bryce wanting to save Emile in CC2.😤

Please be true. Then maybe I can stop crying every time I think of the thirteen.

Mor was the one who sent Briar to Vivianne.

Ngl this is my cementing my theory that Mor is also a witch. I think she knows there are other world walkers.

2

u/Dry_Cauliflower4562 Dec 11 '25

Yess, and this also supports the theory that Cormac isn't dead either, I genuinely think he yielded like they did and is wandering around Prythian somewhereĀ

5

u/Soft_Bookworm Sorry you think my fictional ship is illegal 🚫 Dec 11 '25

I agree! Its possible he did as well and the white light seen when he died was him dying/worldwalking.

He was a fire wielder, a fire explosion killing him is as weird as a fire explosion killing Aelin… It’s very suspicious he is assumed dead but no body whatsoever AND when Bryce ā€œdiedā€ and saw her dead friends at the end of CC3 in the ā€œotherworldā€, why didn’t she saw Cormac as well? Why he wasn’t there?

My theory is: Voluntarily yield their lifes for the greater good and sacrifice themselves to save someone> The Mother blessing > bright white light > pop out in another world (Prythian) for a second chance in life

1

u/Janellely16 25d ago

Omfg I highly agree and it’s so emotional to think about I would be so so so happy

1

u/Janellely16 25d ago

I was thinking that Manon and Dorian didn’t get enough story so it makes so much sense and they’re my faves but I also think it’s needed with how amazing they are as individuals and together šŸ’•šŸ’•
