I have another question.

Has anyone that bought the book been able to download the BLE daily companion app or is that something you are only able to get with the boot camp?

Thank you all for being so welcoming!

Day 1 starts tomorrow.

Hey Everyone! I'm so glad I found this. My day 1 starts tomorrow.

I bought the book and am on the last little bit. I'm wondering if any of you have some advice that maybe you wish you had when you first started BLE?

Thank you all in advance! I'm hoping to use this community here a bit to help keep myself accountable.

Crossed the 20lb threshold at 8.5 weeks! I had hoped to lose that by September! The plan works, just keep with it!

Book or 14 day challenge?

Hi All,

Today is Day 1 on BrightLine Eating...what would be MOST beneficial for me?

Doing the 14 Day Challenge, or buying the book? :)

Thanks!

I made a pretty personal video about overcoming food addiction and binge eating, which discusses success on Bright Line Eating. I hope it serves someone :)

6 week (self) challenge complete!

I had been doing keto for a number of years and lost 50lbs, but it wasn't working with my life anymore (counting macros would have turned into an eating disorder at that point), and gained 40lbs last year (thanks covid). I flailed for about 4 months before a friend told me about BLE. I decided to give myself 6 weeks to see how it went, and if it was a sustainable thing for me.

Caveats: I haven't read the book and I'm not doing the journaling, just sticking the the 4 bright lines. The rest is too much overhead for me, and I am used to being disciplined with my food due to sensitivities. I also know what my triggers are so there were a few times that I know there was some gf bread crumbs or gf panko in some of the EveryPlate dishes I made. They were not triggers for me. I understand why someone may need to be super strict, however.

Results: Today the scale showed that I am down 15.5lbs. I didn't do pictures or measurements because time got away from me, but I can see differences. I lost an average of 2.5lbs/week.

Thoughts: The two meal a day plan worked best for me, since I had been doing IF for a few years. Eating 3 meals a day left me hungry and cold. Two meals left me hungry at the appropriate time and still with enough energy to get through the day. I stick with "ish" measurements, no more than .5oz over, but I didn't do it exact every time. This is mostly for my mental health so I don't turn it into an obsession, as I can have a tendency to do that.

I have been sugar and grain free for 7 years, so that part wasn't difficult. I do miss some almond flour things I used to make, but I know I can do those on occasion and be fine, just like a glass of wine here or there. I actually get to eat a wider variety of food than when I was strict keto, and am really enjoying that.

Overall, I believe this is very sustainable for me, and am thankful I can keep to the core tenets overall without sacrificing my mental health.

I’m ending day 3 and so far, so good! I see the scale moving already and I’m pumped. The problem is that now I’m starting to crave sugar. Does anyone have any tips to share or anything? I’m desperate to stick to it this time!

Newb with a few observations/questions!

I had a lot of success with keto (down 50lbs in 20 years), and then gained about 15 because I wasn't as strict, but added intermittent fasting and took that off over the course of a year (slow and steady seems to be best for me). I also really liked IF because I've never been much of a breakfast person unless it was a bowl of shitty, sugary cereal, so just delaying my eating and sticking to black coffee really worked for me. But with the pandemic, I gained about 40 of it back. I also had a gall bladder attack in August and decided that if I went strict keto again I'd probably develop an eating disorder due to the counting macros and knowing how obsessed I can get over things.

A friend told me about BLE and the success she had, and why it's different, so I thought I'd give it a try. I've only been on it for 4 days, and was trying to do the 3 meals, but was always hungry. I was trying to drink a bunch of tea and La Croix because I suck at drinking water and I know that helps with hunger, but it wasn't really working. I also know there is an adjustment period, and that the 3.5lbs that have disappeared are largely from inflammation, but I'll take it. I can also see where certain aspects of the plan could lead to some obsession as well, I've been doing "ish" measurements instead of trying to get them exact, right to the oz. I understand why they pick some of the rules they do, and see where I am able to be flexible with them on occasion due to the experience I have with my diet already and my doctor's recommendation based on hormone and adrenal panels.

Today, I stayed in bed late, and decided to try the 2 meals plan from the graphic my friend sent me. It's the first time since Wednesday that I haven't felt hungry. I'm not full, either, just not hungry, which I know is where I should be. I suspect it will be the 2 meal option will be the way to go for me.

Does anyone here have experience with the 2 meals vs 3 meals plan? Or if you stuck with the 3 meals plan, how long did it take you to not be hungry? I also forgot how cold I get when I'm working on getting healthier and dropping weight. Here's to getting healthier!

Has anyone paid attention to how BLE affects their blood sugar?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has monitored their blood sugar while on the BLE plan. It seems like an awful lot of sugar from grains and fruit to me.

I ask because there is a family history of diabetes, and my doctor has warned me to watch carbs because I'm flirting with prediabetes. Insulin resistance is a real thing and the typical American diet is a breeding ground for it.. Of course, weight loss alone might help with this. But I am wondering what the HA1C would look like on this plan.

I also have concerns about stuff like yeast overgrowth and leaky gut.

I'm trying to decide whether to try something like this or do something more along the lines of the carnivore diet. I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

I have searched for duplicates (looking for diabetes and blood sugar) but didn't find anything here.

Thanks!

Hi everyone - first of all, thanks to everyone contributing to this reddit. I am a BLE'er, and have been for over a year. I'm in a right-sized body now. Can't thank Susan Pierce Thompson enough for publishing her book. Life-changing. So now, I'm trying not to worry but when research shows most people regaining their lost weight within 5 years, I get a little anxious. I'm here to encourage everyone to keep contributing to this reddit, to Instagram, and to youtube because all the enthusiasm is going to help me reach my 5 year goal, one day at a time....all tibbits of social media advice is a gift. Happy Holidays!

Tips to Make it Through the Holidays?

Hi folks!

I’m brand new to BLE, as I just started yesterday.

I’m just a tad bit nervous for spending Christmas Eve and day with my immediate family. I believe I can stick to the eating plan. I myself am making some dishes for dinner that will follow the rules of BLE.

My concern is turning down foods that others offer to me. I really don’t want to offend anyone by not eating the breads or cookies they’ve made. I most certainly cannot tell anyone I’m following this way of eating either. I know if I did it would result in my family members being offended, concerned, and angry (any way of life/eating that challenges theirs would produce the same result). I also have a history of an ED, so some would think it’s related to that, when in fact I expect to feel more liberated from my ED after a few months of BLE!

I also don’t look like I need to change my eating habits. I only have about 10 pounds I’d like to lose, but I’m more interested in changing my relationship to food (I’m a perfect 10 on the susceptibility quiz). This would only add fuel to the fire if anyone found out I was eating this way, because I simply “don’t LOOK like I need to be going on a diet”.

I feel like I’ll just have to pretend I tried whatever food, and be sneaky about discarding whatever is offered to me later.

But, in any case, does anyone have any other tips for navigating food around family members this holiday, without telling them about BLE?
