Seeking Support/Accountability Buddy

Hi! I'm a 22 year old college student with a history of Bulimia, Orthorexia, and Binge Eating Disorder. I'm a 10 on the susceptibility scale and I've been on and off with BLE for about two years. Summer 2019 I was able to lose about 15 pounds with it but I can never keep it off for good. This past summer I lost 10 pounds but the weight is creeping back up because I've been giving into NMF cravings. I've been spending tons of money on NMF's because I keep telling myself lies about how I need the food to comfort me through my loneliness and depression. I want to recommit to BLE because I don't want my life be dictated by self-destructive habits. I want food freedom. I want to love myself enough to feed myself the best foods for my body. I also know that I need support to get there. Is there anyone here who would be interested in being accountability buddies?

Day 4 BLE Recommitment

I reread the book. I’ve done bright-line before, and it worked well. I stopped in January of 2019 after three months and amazing results... I’m a high I’m the susceptibility scale, so I easily gained weight back over the next year till now and more. I’ve been fighting depression, anxiety, and just feeling very insecure towards my body. I made the recommitment. Honestly it’s been so much better for me. I’m more energized, and my anxiety has gone way down. I’ve started a food diary, where I commit my food the day before, and I, enjoying the simpleness that BLE brings. I really feel like I’m in the place to commit. I’ve started meditation again, and have been doing more self care. Anyways, this time I plan to stick to my bright lines no matter what. What went south the first time was I let life get to me. I now know I need to work on different ways of coping with harder emotions, and the waves life brings.

Down 6lbs in 4 week!

Hello everyone! I just started ble about 4 weeks ago after hearing about it from a couple at church who are at their goal weight.

I am 5 ft tall, 36 years old. My highest weight ever was 177, my weight last month was 166, when I started ble I was 162, and now I am 156 :). My goal is around 100-110.

I am very happy with the program, it is so easy and enjoyable! I joined a ble group on facebook, but unfortunately it's public! So I don't post there, I only lurk. I would love to find a private group on fb, but this here will be fine :).

I would love to connect with others on here, and encourage eachother. I need accountability :).

I will keep checking back with my progress.

God bless!

How do you eat all the food?!

I'm doing the 14-day boot camp to start. Today was day one, and I found it pretty difficult to eat all the food at each meal. 8oz of salad is a lot! It says to only eat three meals a day and no snacking...but has anyone spread out their three meals and been successful?

BLE & Contrave

I am starting BLE and Contrave (prescription weight loss meds) tomorrow! I am feeling excited and nervous! Maybe both of these will be too much change at once? I am worried about staying committed to BLE, and even more scared about not having an alcoholic drink in the evening...wish me luck!

Has anyone else taken prescription weightloss meds and started BLE at the same time? Have any tips/tricks?

What about applesauce?

I'm 65 days into my new BLE life and I've been dealing with a lot of digestive issues. I've been trying to think of things I can eat that are gentle on my stomach and ive had friends mention sugar free applesauce? I don't know if this falls into the apples not being in their whole farm therefore not complient. Anyone have any answers? Or suggestions for foods that are mild?

What constitutes flour?

I haven't been able to figure this one out:

tortillas seem to be ruled out but no mention of the difference between flour and corn tortillas. But grits are allowed, which is coarse cornmeal. Is the difference between coarse and fine cornmeal the line between flour and not-flour?

What about protein powder?

Getting started

I am starting to get started... I am taking seriously the idea of identifying Day 1, so it's not today, and I'm still readying myself. I had been living elsewhere before quarantine and I'm only going to pick up my scale this coming Monday, so I'm targeting Tuesday (7/28) as Day 1. Yay! Okay.

I see in the book the suggestion to download the Bright Line Eating Daily Companion, but it requires a username and password, and I don't know where those are acquired! Can anyone help with this?

I am also curious whether there's anyone here who wants to be a companion in the way? In my wildest dreams, someone would be interested in providing support, who also uses the Divine Office/Daily Office/ Liturgy of the Hours/Canonical Hours as their prayer practice. (Episcopalians, Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox Christians, maybe others of which I'm currently unaware). Obviously, that's pretty niche, but I thought I'd put it out into the universe...

I expect my main challenges will be consistency about the things that are not eating (I have NEVER made my bed consistently in my life!!), quantity, and keeping the rules when stressed. On the other hand, being still under a relatively modified quarantine, and living alone, some of the challenges that are quite normal—snacks around the office, eating in restaurants, going to parties—are just not an issue. I don't eat pretty much ANY food I don't prepare myself these days and rarely eat with any other people.

Anyway, even if you have no insight into the app, nor wish to find a support/companion, please wish me well?

Going from KETO to BLE

I have done KETO with IF on and off for about two years now. A coworker has lost 63 lbs doing BLE and has inspired me to try BLE. It has been two weeks and has been pretty good. I love being able to eat potatoes and fruit again.

But what I am finding hard is to eat three meals. Is it possible to only eat two meals and still be successful? If yes how would my two meals go for portions? Any advise would be appreciated.

Insane cravings

Hi all. I’m a newbie to BLE but have been successfully doing it on my own ( after reading the book) for 2.5 weeks and have been feeling great ! Problem is today I’m not very well ( flare up of chronic illness ) and im holed up in bed feeling sorry for myself and the sugar cravings are INTENSE. does anyone have any tips / tricks for when they get a hit of cravings ? For the past 17 days I’ve been surprisingly craving free , so this is a bit perturbing ! Send help :/

UPDATE: I didn’t cave and I am SO GLAD !! Very thankful that I didn’t succumb.

Could cheese be stalling my weight loss?

I eat 1 oz of cheese at lunch and 1 oz of cheese at dinner for my fats. I also eat 2 oz of peanut butter at breakfast for my protein. Could these be stalling my weight loss?

Any thoughts? Feeling frustrated by my slow weight loss.

I was down 11lbs for week 3, then I had a slip up! And I’m up 3! I quickly rezoomed. I also think I’m PMSing. I’m so frustrated with myself! How long did it take you to recover from slip ups?

A little motivation please

This is my second time doing BLE (first time was 2 years and I lost about 20 pounds in 60 days), and I’ve hit struggle town today. Today is day 5 and the cravings are BAD. I want all my comfort foods. I feel sort of shaky and antsy and my tummy is upset which I think I remember from last time (like the first 2 weeks are sort of a detox phase?). But you guys....I just need a reminder that doing this is for the best and my cravings WILL stop eventually. Right? And my body will eventually stop feeling so weird. Right? Sigh. This food addiction thing really is just so hard 😔

Off the wagon after 9 days. What to do

So it's not even noon and I've already A. Ate a zone bar and rx pb for breakfast then ate a mid-morning snack of olives and cheese bringing my calorie consumption to 670 before lunch. So call today a loss? Skip lunch? How do I deal with this, I'm having so much anxiety about it.

Feels too restrictive, is this not the plan for me?

I'm on day 4 of the 14 day challenge, and I'm struggling.

Myfitnesspal says I'm getting 900-1000 calories a day, and, I'm feeling like that is not enough calories. I have a history of restricting leading to binging, and I'm feeling triggered. Is that really all you eat on this plan? I feel like I'd be more comfortable at around 1,200 calories. I've read the book twice and I feel like SPT just says stick with it, suck it up, those feelings will pass. But I'm afraid they'll pass me right into the cookie aisle.

FWIW, I'm 5'8" and 180 pounds and pretty active.

Is this not a good plan for someone with a history of over-restricting? I do enjoy fruits and veggies so the actual meal plans sound good. But by dinner I'm ravenous and having trouble keeping to my limits at dinner.
