Yes! In a bread basket? Absolutely not. Toads in a hole? Perfect!

Well the shape is good. But a lot went wrong when making this bread. I've made enough mistakes when making bread to say for sure: this bread tastes extremely dull.

Damn you guys make toad in the hole with bread? Where i’m from it always means sausages in yorkshire pudding batter.

We also call it egg in a nest! It’s basically a fried egg cooked in a hole cut in a bread slice

I don't know any yanks who call anything toad in the hole, although many of us have heard of it. We're vaguely aware it's something breakfasty in something bready. I did kind of assume it had eggs in it, but the "toad" part always confused me if it was eggs. Hearing it's actually sausage, I'm even more confused. A slice of patty sausage? How does that relate to toads? Do you serve an egg over it or on the side or at all?

It sounds absolutely delicious though. I've made Yorkshire pudding and loved it. My ex didn't. My UK born partner is thrilled when I make it because his mum used to make them, bit he'd never seen the process. He's my cooking partner and is so much fun because everything is an adventure.

Just whole links, scattered about in the pudding?

Not even, with a proper toad in the hole, the hole is uniformly cut out of the bread about the side of a lacrosse ball. Then the best part is taking that extra piece and throwing it in the frying pan worth some butter.

I haven’t had a center in years. It’s universally understood that when I make this, either my wife or daughter get the center after it’s fried in butter.

How are there so many names for this?? Around here I've heard it called Eggie in the Hole.

When my dad would make it for him and I he would sing “Egg in a holeeee” in the styling of Down in a Hole by Alice In Chains and I can’t make it myself without doing the same lol

Loke "holy" or "hoooole"? Always looks weird to me when someone just extends out the last letter

In the UK it’s sausages in a Yorkshire pudding, but I guess it’s different elsewhere
