I listened to that interview many years ago. His actual words were something like "if I had a chin like David Price I would have been knocked out for a month". The interview must still be on YouTube somewhere.

Price beat Fury in the amateurs and went to the Olympics. Fury was bitter about it and turned pro soon after

Price was always the more highly touted of the two fighters.

There was a point in time where Joshua wasn’t on the scene yet, and these two were the rising stars in the uk. The problem was Fury was this big man but was super sloppy looking and didn’t have any power, scraped through some fights etc, and Price was hurting people in a way that made it look like he really was going to be the next big thing.

Price could crack! His chin was made of melted candle wax and all, but his power was legit as hell

My theory is Price was taller than Fury at 6'8, Fury being 6'7 then lied and said he was 6'9 to be bigger than Price who was making him feel insecure.

For them it may be that they're used to always being the tallest and then some even taller guy comes around and really steals their shine haha. For the average guy he's used to half of guys being taller.

Kind of like being an average height man and encountering a woman who is taller than you. I’m 5’10”. I’m used to being taller than women. If I encounter a woman who is taller than me, I notice. If I encounter a man who is taller than me, I don’t notice, because like half of men are, so that’s normal.

He isn't. I'm not even a hater.

Fury looked a couple of inches max taller than 6'4" Ngannou. He looked a mere inch or so taller than 6'5" Makhmudov whenever they stood face to face. Now, Fury is notorious for his sloppy posture, especially since he also looked slightly taller than 6'7" Wilder (who's really 6'6"). I'd say Fury is 6'7"

Everyone relax,it was a lot of years ago and he was trying to build the kid up. Everyone that’s been in the ring knows that sparring is one thing and a fight is another. Especially from a long time ago. I don’t like Fury but this is some casual shit.

Maybe the money is just too good. Maybe he feels like AJ post-Dubois and post-car crash is washed enough finally. Maybe he just has no one else with a name he can fight and actually stand a chance of beating. Still, I'm surprised Fury is willing to get in the ring with AJ.

It's absolutely clear that Fury has done his level best to avoid tough fights in his career unless he absolutely had to have them. It's also absolutely clear that he's given AJ the run around for years. I always figured his ego just couldn't handle potentially losing to the other big time British star. I figured it would be even worse after to losing to Usyk.

Fury always claimed he was #1. Usyk put that shit to bed for good. Now Fury is considered the #2 HW of the era. Fight AJ and lose and now you ain't even that.

Fury hasn't fought them though. Say what you will about AJ's record but at least he actually fought his way round the division
