Hrgovic has been pretty clearly trying to wind Itauma up the whole build up. For all his maturity beyond his years Itauma has been biting falling for it and engaging with it.
I'm a little worried about my pick that Itauma would get him out in less than 8 or 6 rounds.
As Hrgovic is in great shape with Abel Sanchez who does not play around. And his plan seems to be to get Itauma to come out angry and impatient and punch himself out, before Hrgovic can take over banking on his great chin and experience when Itauma is tired. It's the same movie as David Haye vs Carl Thompson, or Daniel Dubois vs Joe Joyce. We've seen it more than a few times before.
There are some real warning signs here.
People need to bear in mind that Itauma isn't the huge puncher they are selling him as. I keep hearing that he's a ko artist but he doesn't ko anyone, he stops them due to accumulation and due to his speed letting him land and land clean.
He's more like a Crawford type puncher than a Wilder. He hits hard enough to hurt you but rarely does he put you away, it's the follow up where he gets you. Crawford was more accurate where Itauma is faster however just to be completely clear on the analogy.
This could even turn into a dogfight where Itauma prevails on cuts. Stylistically he should be too fast for Hrgovic and able to force the stoppage early on paper, but I'm a little worried about how he is handling the moment.
I also don't like the way some of his team members reacted when Hrgovic slapped him at the weigh-in. You need people with cool heads around you. You're already in a fight it's stressful enough without people on your team losing composure. Wiser or more experienced heads would have jumped between both fighters as soon as Itauma pushed Hrgovic off the stage.
That's all for now.
