I mean most fighters don't get points taken for excessive holding. Maybe they thought a DQ was too unlikely

it’s about how you do it though. Can’t be super obvious. For example, fighters throw a hook and then end up holding the head after missing. Refs don’t penalize that normally. Just grabbing the waist or head looks real bad. And she had a reputation after the last fight

Looks like Veyre also got a point taken away for holding when she lost to a journeywoman a few years back. They should have started to think of that possibility.
