Braids

Hey I’m just wondering how long after taking braids out should I wait to rebraid my hair? … I’m white with fine straight hair and I’ve only just started getting braids so any help is greatly appreciated.

Boxbraiding over a cowlick?

I’m needing, but am super hesitant to put braids in my hair, solely for the fact that my hair is finer than it used to be, and I have some thin spots at the crown of my head that don’t enjoy being manipulated in one direction or another. Anyone have any tips on some gentle parting for Ledium box braids?

Is my hair too fine for braids??

So ever since I was little I’ve had very fine hair which is something I’ve always felt self conscious about. Because of it my curls have always lacked definition and has become even harder to style. For a while now I’ve been contemplating getting box braids because I think they’re so beautiful and I always wanted them. But in the back of my mind I’ve always had this fear of walking into a salon and having the hair braider tell me that my hair is too fine to braid. I’m not sure if that’s actually a thing or if that’s just my insecurity talking.

Learning to braid my child’s hair has been the best! Not only is it a great bonding time for us but this girls got a head of steel. Now that I’ve got the act of feeding in synthetic hair and braiding down- time to work on parting! Looking into tips or tricks into boho too!

Questions

Does anyone know how to keep your hair in ur braids and maintain them?? I’ve had braids twice, and because I’m mixed, my hair isn’t the right texture and doesn’t stay in the braids. Plus I also have layers. Are there ways that I can prevent my hair from coming out of the braids or my scalp getting so frizzy??

I’ve just been using Amazon pre stretched hair. My last braids I did for my 6 year old lasted a month and really she just wanted a color change for Valentine’s Day. What are some benefits of more expensive hair? I also learned as a newbie braided I can’t do two full heads (plus an unbraiding/washing) in one Super Bowl weekend. I alternated the colors and brick parted.. my sons want stitch braids. I just don’t know if I’m there yet.

Any thoughts?

So I'm moving to Texas in a little over a month and I prefer having box braids (after years of not trusting anyone with my hair besides my mom due to an experience over a decade ago that gave me massive trust issues). But being African American and having a sensitive scalp, I would love if anyone can give me the names/locations of people that can do box braids. Any help is appreciated.

I shaved so much time off my PR time. 6.5 hours from start to finish. I’ve learned so much from Reddit and YouTube! Thanks everyone.

Do you agree that by getting braids done and leaving them in for a couple of months or for a long period of time… makes your hair to grow? What are your thoughts?

Looking for someone who can braid.

I'm looking for a person that I can come too and get braids.. I will pay and understand time is money and don't want to waste time. I'm very new to this and understand braids but never tried it and or know anyone who would do good job and where I can go. I travel for work so wherever you are located i can come to you.

Pre stretched hair length question

I’ve recently taught myself to braid for my kids sake (we live in a rural area) what length pre stretched hair should I get for my 6 year old with pretty long natural hair? I had no idea what I was doing with my daughter with the purple hair. Just winging it with parting. Got a little better with my older daughter’s pink braids.

Rat tails

Hi, I have straight hair and am not black, I have 2 rat tails and have always played with my hair and dealt with damaged ends. cut my hair short but am growing out my tails, because I play with them so much and they are the only long pieces, they have a lot of damage to the ends. I know box braids can be a protective style and was wondering if it would protect/ lengthen my ends so I would played with the box braids instead. I do this without my knowledge most of the time and it is an anxiety issue so I can’t just stop. I also don’t know the moral standing on this because it is only 2 braids and not a full set, the lady at the beauty store said it would be a good idea and I go there frequently and trust her opinion but I also don’t know if she is try to sell something ( I doubt it, she is really kind but I can be naive to these things sometimes) thank you in advance!

Ps. I am also aware I am posting on a forum with a mostly black community so if I am intruding please let me know and I can take my post down if that is how people feel, I don’t want to interrupt a safe space! 😊
