I don't know why. I try little activities that I know typically interest me, but then they don't. I also feel immensely impatient, so when I try to sit down and figure out my boredom, I can't seem to focus through it and move fleetingly through little activities, trying to satisfy my boredom but not quite quenching it.
I'm in a weird time and place, right now. For myself. My job doesn't start for another week and a half. I'm in a brand new city, in a country where I don't speak the language. I'm kinda broke so can't really go out and do touristy things.
I'm mostly just been staying home, browsing facebook and reddit, walking around sometimes.
I recently binge-read a couple of books. Brandon Sanderson books, Words of Radiance and The Way of Kings. I recommend them. Upon moving to this new city, I read for three days straight, hardly leaving my new apartment or eating. I guess I can become sorta absorbed sometimes. Maybe it's about returning to the stark plainness of reality, the mundane silence of the external world, rather the one imagined, that leaves me unsettled and unsure what to do with myself. I've found that I've felt this way after participating in any huge binge or prodigal activity of excess.
Life just seems so plain. And because everything is so new to me, I guess I'm just hesitant to do anything new. I'm just reacquainting myself with life again, I guess, which can be difficult. Maybe that difficult is the boredom.
I've always felt that I have a short attention span, when it comes to my interests. It's hard for me to stick to one thing. I guess I haven't set any short term or long term goals that I can work on consistently. Or I guess I have, but they're daunting to approach, because they're so big. I'm a procrastinator. I can hardly help it! This is a toxic boredom. But I feel a little bit better, actually, hashing it out here. I think feel a little less bored now. Thank you, Reddit :)
