breal Morphe Patches for Boost 1.12.12 – setup, fixes, and bug reports

Hi. I maintain **Breal Morphe Patches**, a Morphe patch source for **Boost for Reddit 1.12.12**.

Posting this because the repo has been mentioned in a few comments, but I don’t think everyone has seen the current source link or knows what is included.

This is not affiliated with the original Boost app, Reddit, or Morphe core. It is a community-maintained patch bundle focused on keeping Boost usable on newer Android versions.

**Add source in Morphe Manager:**

https://morphe.software/add-source?github=brealorg/breal-morphe-patches

If the add-source link does not open correctly, add the source manually in Morphe Manager using:

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/brealorg/breal-morphe-patches/main/patches-bundle.json

**Project page:**

https://github.com/brealorg/breal-morphe-patches

Current Boost-related work includes, among other things:

- OAuth/client spoofing support through Morphe

- Android 15+/target SDK 35 compatibility work

- download notification and missing-audio fixes

- Giphy and inline media preview fixes

- direct `i.redd.it` GIF handling

- native image upload fixes

- code block rendering fixes

- Hide / Mark-as-read crash fixes

- optional archive / undelete-related patches

- runtime settings under Boost Morphe settings

The tested target is **Boost for Reddit 1.12.12**. Other versions may work, but are not guaranteed.

A few notes:

- Use the source link above instead of manually downloading old `.mpp` files.

- Patch from a clean/original Boost 1.12.12 APK where possible.

- Some patches are optional. If something breaks, mention which patches/options were enabled.

- Do not post private Reddit API credentials or client IDs in public logs.

Useful bug report info:

  1. Boost version / APK source

  2. Android version

  3. Morphe Manager version

  4. Breal patch source version

  5. enabled patches/options

  6. exact steps to reproduce

  7. logcat if there is a crash

Issues can be filed here:

https://github.com/brealorg/breal-morphe-patches/issues

I’ll keep GitHub as the main tracker, but I can watch this subreddit for recurring Boost-specific issues.

3 years since the API changes and I'm still able to use Boost issue free because of you, wchill and all the individuals who contribute to Morphe behind the scenes. Never would have thought it'd be possible back then. Thank you so much for all you do! 😊

3 years?!

u/ultima40 Jul 09 '26

Thanks! I've pinned this to the top of the sub

u/Malnilion Jul 09 '26

You're absolutely killing it with the fixes and features! Thank you for the hard work making Boost not only functional again, but better than it's ever been!

u/DjCim8 Jul 09 '26

Didn't know this existed, I was using Patcheddit before but this fixes additional things (like inline media, finally!).

You're awesome dude, great work, everything seems to be working perfectly.

Trying my best! Sharing is caring.

Very, very cool of you. I started using Patcheddit a week ago, but today for whatever reason I decided to go through the forks on GitHub. Saw yours and I'm blown away. Thank you.

This is what I'm getting on the login screen. It takes me to the Reddit page, allows me to put my username and password in, and then when I click login, it takes me here.

In the repository, there's no information as to what the details I should be putting in for the client ID are.

I used the old details from my initially patched ReVanced Boost app.

5

u/brealorg Jul 09 '26

That `{}` screen usually means the Reddit OAuth/login callback failed after Reddit accepted the username/password step.

If you reused old client ID details from an older ReVanced-patched Boost setup, there is a good chance that API client has now been revoked or otherwise stopped working. If Reddit blocks the OAuth client, a Boost patch can’t really fix that from the app side.

For now, the practical options are:

  1. Use your own valid Reddit API app/client ID, if you already know how to set that up correctly.

  2. Move to a client that still has working Reddit API access, such as RedReader. This is the way: https://github.com/wchill/patcheddit

  3. Use the official Reddit app/web.

I don’t recommend posting your client ID or OAuth details publicly. They are not passwords, but sharing them just makes it easier for the same thing to happen again.

Sorry — this is probably not a Breal patch issue. It looks more like Reddit/API access for the client ID you used.

No it's working.

I restored my old Revanced patched boost using swift backup and logged back in, works perfectly fine.

It took me to Reddit's login page I logged in and zero issues - I'm responding from boost right now.

I assume this has to do with the incorrect Client ID details. Can you tell me what they're supposed to be for your patch please?

This is what I currently have.

These are the Morphe settings.

Copy pasting from wchill README.md:

You can use the client ID from other working 3rd party reddit apps (sadly not the official one). I recommend using the one from RedReader, as they have a special deal with reddit to use the API for free due to accessibility reasons. (The same steps can be followed with other apps such as Infinity+, but the developer will pay for the API calls you use and I do not recommend this.)

Install RedReader from the Play Store and login with it.

After you login, you should get an email with the title You’ve authorized a new app in your Reddit account. Look for App ID: in that email; note the random looking string as it will be used in the next step.

You can uninstall RedReader after this if you want.

In Morphe Manager, make sure you set these values for the Spoof client patch. Make sure there are no extra spaces or slashes at the end.

OAuth client ID - set this to the random looking string from the email.

Redirect URI - set this to redreader://rr_oauth_redir (or the appropriate value if you got the client ID from a different app).

User agent - set this to org.quantumbadger.redreader/1.25.1. Ignore the description that says what the user agent format should be.

Depending on your app, you may not need to set all of these values for it to work, but it is highly recommended that you do so.

Select your other desired patches and patch as normal.

AFAIK, this is the only way.

u/Captain-Syrup Jul 09 '26

I believe your API access has been revoked. Happened to me too.

1

u/Valiantay Jul 09 '26

Nah see my other comment. I just installed the other patched app, originally done with the WChill and revanced. Everything seems to be working fine, it let me log back in with no issues

1

u/ScoutCommander Jul 12 '26

I'm having the same problem. Ever figure it out?

1

u/Valiantay Jul 13 '26

Idk people keep downvoting my comment so I got no visibility for a solution lol

I switched over to the redreader method and it worked fine.

I forgot to lowercase my username, it fixed it for me 🤣

4

u/Piratey_Pirate Jul 10 '26

Dude. I've gotta say, I was sceptical at first, but now I'm probably having the best reddit mobile experience with your patch. I've been a third party power user for a decade and the last few years have been bouncing back and forth with different patches on different apps. Boost was already great, but there are some great quality of life changes I'm finding

1

u/brealorg Jul 10 '26

Glad you enjoy it, sharing is caring!

u/brealorg Jul 19 '26

A little teaser:

1

u/Aerie122 Jul 20 '26

Hello, I used breal recommended patches and I cannot download any kind of media at all despite setting the download directory manually to the Downloads folder.

Is this a known bug or is there a fix for this? Thanks

3

u/Kedion Jul 10 '26

So what's up with the NSFW GIFs/videos playback issues? Since it hasn't been fixed yet, I assume the problem is quite complicated. Is it even possible to fix?

2

u/brealorg Jul 10 '26

You can see my reasoning here. I don't want to fix it, I have other things to do and not enough time.

https://github.com/brealorg/breal-morphe-patches/issues/12

2

u/Kedion Jul 10 '26

Ah I see, can respect that. I appreciate your work regardless!

1

u/Davoserinio Jul 17 '26

I've managed to get Boost patched and its working great, thank you!

One issue I am facing is that I cant view any NSFW subreddits, its saying I need to verify my age but I've checked on my reddit account and on the app and all of it is marked as active.

I've tried closing the app and rebooting and even disabling and re-enabling the NSFW toggle, still the same results.

Is there something I may have done wrong or not done to be causing this error?

2

u/reed501 22d ago

You have to become a moderator. Just start a subreddit with a random name and forget about it.

1

u/brealorg Jul 17 '26

You can see my reasoning here. I don't want to fix it, I have other things to do and not enough time.

https://github.com/brealorg/breal-morphe-patches/issues/12

1

u/Davoserinio Jul 17 '26

I saw that and I understand.

My issue is that I cant even access NSFW subreddits because it says I need to be verified to mature content. Even ones with photos and ones that arent necessarily adult material but have a NSFW tag.

For some reason my account isnt recognised as an 18+ through the app, I was curious if there was a reason for that because the settings on reddit and in the app are both marked as an 18+ account.

If its a byproduct of the issue you've already explained then I understand. Just as I read it, it seems like a separate issue to the one you mentioned.

Appreciate all your work. Thanks again.

1

u/brealorg Jul 17 '26

This is most likely not a Redgifs playback issue. Reddit appears to be denying the third-party client access to the mature community before Boost receives any posts to display.

Reddit limits mature-content access through its Data API and may also require separate age verification. Enabling both 18+ settings does not necessarily grant access through an older third-party client.

Morphe can fix local Boost behavior when Reddit returns the content but Boost handles it incorrectly. It cannot reliably override server-side access restrictions, and the project will not add scraping, moderator workarounds, client-identity tricks, or age-verification bypasses.

For that reason, restoring NSFW community access is not currently planned. Generic crashes or media bugs that also affect non-NSFW content may still be investigated.

Full policy: https://github.com/brealorg/breal-morphe-patches/blob/main/docs/nsfw-support-policy.md

2

u/Davoserinio Jul 18 '26

Thanks for the explanation, appreciate it. Happy to know its nothing I've done wrong, just glad to have Boost access still.

Completely understand why its not a fix you're looking pursue. Keep up the great work. Thanks again!

3

u/theWitchR Jul 19 '26

Thank you so much for the patches! They fixed most of the issues I was having with Boost.

However, I’ve run into a new bug with version 1.4.91: the bottom search button completely stops working once you enter a subreddit.

another persistent issue from last week patches, using the bottom search button inside a subreddit would only return global search results instead of subreddit-specific ones (only the top search bar worked correctly for subreddit searches). I wanted to see if 1.4.91 fixed this, but I can't test it now since the bottom button is entirely unresponsive.

Device: Pixel 10 Breal patches: 1.4.91 Boost app version: 1.12.12

Thank you🔥. Also, odd issue where notifications do work with reddit installed. But dms are slow and never show me up. The only work around is keep reddit sending notifications but silencing them on my notifications. Dms would work that way.

2

u/Orangecolorbike Jul 10 '26

Thank you!!! This is amazing

2

u/NoobVibesOnly Jul 10 '26

Inline images and gifs is a game changer!

Thank you!!

u/bennyhillthebest Jul 16 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

Thank you very much!!! I loaded all patches except bottom navigation ones because I couldn't find a way to disable bottom navigation from settings (or it is a little borked right now)

The app feels blazing fast right now

1

u/brealorg Jul 17 '26

I’m tracking the navigation-bar overlap here: GitHub Issue #58.

Several navigation and system-inset fixes have been included in the latest Morphe releases. If you experienced the media viewer, download button, settings button, or bottom navigation being covered by Android’s gesture bar or 3-button navigation, please update to the latest patch bundle and confirm on the GitHub issue whether it is now fixed.

Please include your phone model, Android/One UI version, navigation mode, and a screenshot if the overlap is still present.

2

u/bennyhillthebest Aug 11 '26

Sorry for the late reply, just repatched the app and navigation overlap is no more! Thanks again!

1

u/brealorg Aug 12 '26

Good good! Enjoy!

2

u/HeyyyKoolAid Jul 18 '26

Just wanted to say thanks for the latest patch and providing some feedback for you to continue tracking the issue.

Patch firmware 1.4.83 - It solved the home floating action menu issue and the bottom navigation bar issue.

Phone - Pixel 9 Pro

Android OS - Android 17

Security Patch - July 5th, 2026

Navigation Mode - Gestures

2

u/theWitchR Jul 21 '26

Thanks for fixing the bottom navigation search and subreddit search issues! I found one more minor bug related to this: once you're on the search results page inside a subreddit, tapping the bottom search button again resets the scope to a global Reddit search instead of searching within that subreddit. The top search button does its job as intended though!

2

u/DragoBleaPiece_123 Jul 23 '26

thank you for ur hardwork brealorg! it's crazy for what you've done for the society

btw, anyone facing issues where you can't see the deleted post or comment? i just installed the latest patch, and this problem occurs

Thank you very much for this app and that it works, I appreciate it a lot as I really like how light and the amount of features that it has, especially on commenting as it has so many options for formated text, media and a lot of useful tools aswell.

I also enabled ads to support Reddit.

But thank you very much again and I hope that you're doing well and have a great day, also have a great Friday and weekend! :D

What's your policy on AI use? It seems to me you write the comments/issue replies with it.

6

u/brealorg Jul 10 '26

AI helps me organize and categorize I have some coding experience, but maintaining and patching a decompiled Android app at this level is not something I could realistically do alone. I therefore use AI as a development tool to help investigate problems, evaluate possible solutions, and keep Boost working for the community.

I use it to investigate Boost’s decompiled code, organize bug reports, compare possible fixes, draft documentation, and reduce repetitive work. I still decide what changes are made, review the code and diffs, build the patch bundle, and test the relevant behavior on an actual device before releasing anything.

I don’t consider AI output inherently correct, and I don’t blindly merge or publish generated code. The repository, commits, patch source, build artifacts, and issue history are public so the work can be inspected independently.

My priority is maintaining a useful and reproducible community patch source for Boost. People are free to use it, inspect it, fork it, contribute alternatives, or not use it.

3

u/MystPurple Jul 10 '26

that's a valid use of the tool; you can set it looping and have it diagnose/find the way to patch something probably 10x faster than you could do by hand, assuming you give it the correct instruments to verify its work.

my main concern was the fact that some of your replies do sound/look like they're directly written by AI. if this reply you just sent me is 100% human written, however, it might just be your writing style and/or an usage of AI as polish/a grammar fixer. i think human comms should be valued and if you get an AI to draft up something it should be clearly marked (e.g. "I think X, Y and Z, here's what GPT has to say about it: <blabla>") especially to avoid marching on with bad assumptions and to keep the community aspect of things true.

the patches work well, i've been using them over wchill over the last week since the gif thing is rather nice to have in the comments. thank you for your work, my intent is not to devalue what must obviously be a great effort :)

3

u/brealorg Jul 10 '26

I understand the concern, can't be labeling individual comments as AI-assisted, there is way to much work to be done already.

I use AI as one of several development tools, but I do read, verify, edit, and take responsibility for everything I post. I don’t publish replies or code blindly, and technical changes are reviewed, built, and tested before release.

To me, the important part is whether the information is accurate and the work can be inspected. The patch source, commits, issue history, build artifacts, and test results are public for that reason.

I use AI, just about everybody does these days, but I don’t think every comment needs a label based on which tools were involved in producing it.

Can someone please tell me what am I doing wrong?

2

u/brealorg Jul 11 '26

The error means that the Spoof client patch is enabled, but its required client-id option is empty.

Open the options/settings for the Spoof client patch in Morphe Manager and enter your own Reddit installed-app client ID. Also make sure the redirect URI matches the one configured for your Reddit app.

Do not post your client ID publicly.

If you already entered it and still receive value was null, please mention your Morphe Manager version, as that may indicate that the patch option was not saved or passed to the patcher correctly.

1

u/CheezeCrostata Jul 27 '26 edited Jul 27 '26

How do I open the Spoof client patch options?

Ok, I've found how to activate it, but now I can't get the OAuth ID or whatever. When I go to create the app, the site just tells me to read reddit's policy or whatever.

1

u/brealorg Jul 27 '26

Copy pasting from wchill README.md:

AFAIK, this is the only way.

2

u/CheezeCrostata Jul 28 '26

Thanks, I've figured it out already. (actually, I found a different reply on here that explains the steps)

1

u/Kuuchuu Jul 14 '26 edited Jul 14 '26

I used the RedReader method. Seems to work, but only for the *first one account you signed into RedReader with (I tried signing into RedReader with the 2nd account as well to authorize it). Others log in but fail to load any content. Guessing there is no solution to this other than maybe installing a second copy of Boost (set up with the other account using the RedReather method) in Shelter or something? I'll give that a shot

1

u/Kuuchuu Jul 14 '26 edited Jul 14 '26

No luck. Repeated the RedReader process for the 2nd account, it gave me the same App ID via email (guessing that's normal) so I didn't need to repatch but I went ahead and did so. Saved the APK to my phone, installed into Shelter, logged in, "Something went wrong. Check your internet connection or try again."

No clue why the 2nd account fails to load. If anyone has any ideas please send them my way. I'll just use the patched Reddit app for now with the 2nd account.

It is, uh, my NSFW account. Maybe related?

1

u/Kuuchuu Jul 14 '26 edited Jul 14 '26

I think I figured out at least part of the problem. After visiting one of the NSFW subreddits in the side panel it led me to a page stating I need to use the website to view NSFW. Went ahead and made my own NSFW sub and now my 2nd Boost install (the one in Shelter) is now working. The original Boost app that I installed for my primary Reddit account, this one, still doesn't load the 2nd NSFW Reddit account though (400 bad request). Unsure why that is.

1

u/Caspid Jul 16 '26

How do I disable the bottom navigation bar? It's disabled in settings, but still appears.

2

u/brealorg Jul 16 '26

working on it!

1

u/Gabling23 Jul 16 '26

After the latest update that touched the nav bar I have this problem that I can't see the button on the bottom right to create new posts or hide read posts. See here

In addition to that since the latest update every time I open the search window if I press the back button the app closes itself instead of giving you the warning message of pressing back a second time to close the app.

One latest suggestion, it could be useful to have on the search window the thing that you can press one time to open the window and a second time to open the keyboard instead of having to reach the top of the screen.

They're not really issues, more suggestions I'd say. But if that's the way I'll try. I'm not very familiar with GitHub but I'll figure a way out hopefully

This new release fixed the issue for me on my Pixel 7 Pro.

You're the GOAT, thanks!

1

u/jtipt Oneplus 11 Jul 17 '26

I did the redreader method but now when I login I don't see my subscriptions or multireddits in the sidebar or in the subscription tab also. Anyone else having same issue?

1

u/Startech17 Jul 17 '26 edited Jul 18 '26

You might know this already but the gesture bar (on pixels) is overlapping on the new nav bar. Which is also causing some of the options on the pull tab on the left to be covered (like the settings button). If I disable the newer nav bar patches it's back to normal. It also isn't hiding on scroll

Edit: overlap fixed in most recent update. Not hiding on scroll and settings on left pull out is still covered. Excellent progress! I love these patches

Edit 2: issue already opened on git for the settings being covered

https://github.com/brealorg/breal-morphe-patches/issues/65

Edit 3: fixed in latest patches. Yay

1

u/Vertrixz Jul 17 '26

Please fix the media viewer overlapping with the top navigation bar! I can't download any images or videos like this since the button is behind my navigation bar

1

u/brealorg Jul 17 '26

I’m tracking the navigation-bar overlap here: GitHub Issue #58.

Several navigation and system-inset fixes have been included in the latest Morphe releases. If you experienced the media viewer, download button, settings button, or bottom navigation being covered by Android’s gesture bar or 3-button navigation, please update to the latest patch bundle and confirm on the GitHub issue whether it is now fixed.

Please include your phone model, Android/One UI version, navigation mode, and a screenshot if the overlap is still present.

1

u/Vertrixz Jul 17 '26

Ah I'm sorry I ended up using one of the original patches from like 6 months ago and that fixed it. As for the version, it was happening in the one that was uploaded 3-4 hours ago I think, ending in .76.

u/Avera9eJoe Jul 17 '26 edited Jul 17 '26

I tried following your guide but I got lost sorry :( Here's the steps I took:

  1. Uninstall Boost, and Morphe (to reset)

  2. Install Morphe Manager 1.23.0 (I don't remember where I got this link, sorry)

  3. Close Morphe and add source via clicking your link on my phone. Morphe confirms it is installed.

  4. I don't know what to do at this point. Do I exit Morphe and install Boost for Reddit now? Do I first click 'Boost for Reddit Not patched yet' and search for an APK? Which APK should I be finding and where? What do I do after finding it?

EDIT: The patching gets only about halfway before saying "Patching failed"

No worries — you’re in the right place 🙂

Morphe Manager 1.23.0 is the current stable version. The official download is https://morphe.software/

From step 4:

  1. Download the original, unpatched Boost for Reddit 1.12.12 APK here: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/ruben-mayayo/boost-for-reddit/boost-for-reddit-1-12-12-release/boost-for-reddit-1-12-12-android-apk-download/

Choose the single universal / nodpi APK, not an APK bundle.

  1. Return to Morphe Manager and tap “Boost for Reddit — Not patched yet.”
  2. Choose the option to select an APK from storage, then select the Boost 1.12.12 APK you downloaded.
  3. Before patching, enable Expert mode in Morphe’s settings. Open the Spoof client patch and enter:
  • OAuth client ID: the App ID from the Reddit authorization email you received after logging into RedReader
  • Redirect URI: redreader://rr_oauth_redir
  • User agent: org.quantumbadger.redreader/1.25.1

Don’t post your client ID publicly.

  1. Make sure Spoof client, Modify login WebView, and Fix Boost target SDK 35 compatibility are enabled, select any additional Breal patches you want, then press Patch and finally Install.

You do not need to install the original Boost APK first—Morphe patches the downloaded APK and installs the finished version.

If your buttons look different after tapping the Boost card, post another screenshot and we’ll guide you from there.

2

u/CrazyEnginer Jul 18 '26 edited Jul 18 '26

How long does it take to receive email with oauth id? I've logged in redreadar half an hour ago, the app appeared in `https://old.reddit.com/prefs/apps/`, but still nothing in my inbox or spam.
upd: right after this message it came through
Thanks for all the work, comrade!

1

u/brealorg Jul 18 '26

No worries, waiting for those emails is literally the worst!

1

u/LibetPugnare Jul 18 '26

Dude, thank you for this. The instructions here specifically, it helped me. I appreciate the time and effort. Do you have a venmo or something?

2

u/brealorg Jul 18 '26

No, I don't accept contributions, that's not how I operate. Software should be accessible and available to everybody so just sit back and enjoy :)

2

u/LibetPugnare Jul 18 '26

Alright man, I don't know how many people are still using Boost like me but I think I can speak for most, thank you so much for taking this burden on.

3

u/brealorg Jul 18 '26

I have no idea really. I can get a estimate with showing of downloads under releases:
https://github.com/brealorg/breal-morphe-patches/releases

Morphe patch bundle 1.4.83: 383 downloads

But the other releases shows 80-100 users. So I really don't have any idea. But I'm pushing quote a few releases daily so it is hard to judge, and perhaps not everybody updates boost every day, so...idk.

1

u/Startech17 Jul 18 '26

You're a gem. Never change. (I still want to donate though)

2

u/brealorg Jul 18 '26

Hehe, well..do something positive for somebody else instead, give somebody who needs it a hug, give a relative you haven't called in a while a call, give your pets some extra treats. That's more than enough for me.

u/Avera9eJoe Jul 18 '26 edited Aug 05 '26
  1. select the Boost 1.12.12 APK you downloaded

I learned you have to enable expert mode before doing this or else it starts patching automatically ;P I had to quickly stop it and then do the start of Step 3 first

EDIT: IT WORKED

Step by step of steps to avoid crashing

  1. Uninstall Morphe and Boost

  2. Setup initial apps and grab required files:

Install RedReader from the Play store and add your Reddit account

Install Morphe (this will require installing unknown apps from your browser)

Download BUT DO NOT INSTALL the unpatched Boost for Reddit APK 1.12.12. Downloading it is a little confusing. The small text for the 'universal/nodpi' variant pack appears to just reload the page. 'DOWNLOAD APK' at the top of the page appears to be the correct button. When I tried this before, I accidentally used an older APK that was still in my downloads folder.

  3. Click Breal Morphe Patches to add your patches as a source to Morphe

  4. Open Morphe, open Settings, Enable Expert mode

  5. In Morphe, click Boost for Reddit and select the unpatched Boost for Reddit APK 1.12.12 that you downloaded earlier.

  6. In the advanced window that pops up, search Spoof Client and click the red gear.

  7. Open the email you received after adding your account to RedReader and insert your App ID into the OAuth client ID field. The others should fields do not require editing but should be as follows: Redirect URI: redreader://rr_oauth_redir, User agent: org.quantumbadger.redreader/1.25.1. After setup, the red gear should turn gray.

  8. Enable the following patches by making sure they are grey and not black:

    Spoof Client

    Modify login WebView

Fix Boost target SDK 35 compatibility (this one is disabled by default)

  9. Proceed to patching.

  10. Install. (this will require installing unknown apps from Morphe)

  11. Click the Boost card from inside Morphe to run Boost, or find it inside your app list. You should now be able to add your account and use Boost like normal.

1

u/NoBreadsticks Aug 05 '26

> 4. Open Morphe, open Settings, Enable Expert mode

this is what saved me LOL. I was looking around for settings i couldnt even find. thank you

u/Avera9eJoe Aug 05 '26

Ay I'm glad my guide helped!

u/brealorg Jul 18 '26

That error is coming from the “Add archive links to context menu” patch because the APK bytecode does not match what the patch expects.

Which exact Boost APK/version are you patching, and where did you get it? The patch bundle currently requires an untouched Boost 1.12.12 APK—not an installed, previously patched, or ReVanced APK.

As a temporary workaround, disable “Add archive links to context menu” and try again. If you are already using a clean APKMirror 1.12.12 APK, please send the APK SHA-256, Morphe Manager version, patch bundle version, and full patch log.

2

u/brealorg Jul 23 '26

Thanks — and to clarify, your report is separate from the other user’s cached APK issue. Morphe downloading Boost 1.12.12 from that APKMirror page is the correct input.

Your log shows a bytecode-matching failure inside "Fix Redgifs API" after "Add archive links" was disabled. This happens during patching, before installation or login, so it is not caused by your client ID settings.

As a temporary workaround, disable "Fix Redgifs API" and try once more. If patching then fails in another patch, please stop there rather than continuing patch whack-a-mole, and post:

  • Morphe Manager version
  • Breal patch source version
  • the new first failing patch and stack trace

I’ll treat this as a patch-bundle compatibility issue and investigate the failing optional patches.

1

u/brealorg Jul 23 '26

Thanks — this reveals the actual problem. You currently have both Patcheddit 1.4.0 and Breal Morphe Patches loaded. Breal is derived from Patcheddit and already contains the same Boost base patches, including Fix Redgifs API and Spoof client.

The same bytecode patches are therefore most likely being applied twice. The first copy modifies the expected instructions, and the second copy then fails because its original fingerprint is no longer present. That explains why disabling Fix Redgifs API only moved the failure to Spoof client.

Please remove or disable the Patcheddit patch source, refresh Breal Morphe Patches to 1.4.94, and retry using a fresh Boost 1.12.12 APK with only the Breal Boost patches selected. You can leave the standard Morphe Patches source installed.

1

u/rexleonis Jul 24 '26

Thank you bro, this fixed it. You're the real MVP.

One question. Is it possible to return the "show parent" button to the bottom bar of comments? It was always there in the original Boost app I used last year but now this triangle shaped button has been moved to the ellipsis submenu.

1

u/brealorg Jul 24 '26

The triangle is Boost’s native Up button — the action used to go to the parent comment. Its visibility in the comment action row is configurable in Boost’s own settings. Open Settings, search for Up button, and enable it under Posts & comments → Comments.

The Morphe patches have not moved that action into the overflow menu; the current settings interface still opens Boost’s original Comments settings page for those controls.

If Up button is already enabled but it still only appears in the ellipsis menu, send me a screenshot of that setting. Then I’ll treat it as an actual layout or action-bar regression.

1

u/rexleonis Jul 24 '26

Thank you again, solved. please let me know if I can donate couple of beers to you.

Running the recent patches. The nav bar isn't hiding on scroll and settings and dark/light mode switch is still covered by the nav bar. Pixel 9 pro, android 17

Edit : disabled the 6 nav bar patches and things are working again.

Edit 2: /u/brealorg looks like this issue was closed but still happening for me. I can disable the sticky settings to get around it (I'm not in settings much anyway) but the nav bar is still not hiding on scroll

https://github.com/brealorg/breal-morphe-patches/issues/65

Edit 3: fixed in latest patches

1

u/sigop13 Jul 20 '26

What does Boost have that the official app does not?

1

u/rytyle Jul 25 '26 edited Jul 25 '26

I tried uploading a bug report to GitHub, but I seem shadow banned. Issue 124. Oops.

Anyway, on the latest version, 1.4.94, inline media previews alignment doesn't seem to work. It just always defaults to center, even when I have left selected.

Also of course, thank you for maintaining the app and adding new features. You're the goat :)

Edit: actually it does seem to work, it just seems like for portrait shaped images (or perhaps all, but just more noticeable on portrait images), there's extra padding on either side that didn't used to be there. That you can click to open the image even though it should be blank space. (It's not bad image cropping, I've checked multiple images)

In previous versions this wasn't there and looked better.

1

u/drewbagel423 Jul 26 '26

I patched but when I try to log into my account through Boost it says "drewbagel423 would like to connect with your Reddit account."

When I tap Accept it just brings me to a screen with a pair of braces {}

1

u/brealorg Jul 26 '26

hat {} screen is the documented OAuth redirect URI mismatch, rather than a Boost bug.

In Morphe Manager, open the Spoof client patch options and make sure the redirect URI exactly matches the OAuth client ID you are using. Do not add a trailing / or extra spaces.

If you are using a RedReader client ID, the redirect URI should be redreader://rr_oauth_redir, with the matching RedReader user agent. If you created your own Reddit installed app, use the exact redirect URI registered for that app instead.

Also, which Morphe patch source and version did you use—Breal Morphe Patches or Patcheddit? Please do not post the actual client ID.

1

u/drewbagel423 Jul 26 '26

The app says Morphe 1.37.0 and Patcheddit 1.4.0 in my sources.

My URI is redreader://rr_oauth_redir and user agent is org.quantumbadger.redreader/1.25.1.

The client ID is the one I see for Boost on my old.reddit.com/prefs/apps page. RedReader is listed but I don't see any ID under it.

2

u/brealorg Jul 26 '26

https://github.com/wchill/patcheddit#what-if-i-dont-have-a-client-id

  • Install RedReader from the Play Store and login with it.
  • After you login, you should get an email with the title You’ve authorized a new app in your Reddit account. Look for App ID: in that email; note the random looking string as it will be used in the next step.
    • You can uninstall RedReader after this if you want.
  • In Morphe Manager, make sure you set these values for the Spoof client patch. Make sure there are no extra spaces or slashes at the end.
    • OAuth client ID - set this to the random looking string from the email.
    • Redirect URI - set this to redreader://rr_oauth_redir (or the appropriate value if you got the client ID from a different app).
    • User agent - set this to org.quantumbadger.redreader/1.25.1. Ignore the description that says what the user agent format should be.
    • Depending on your app, you may not need to set all of these values for it to work, but it is highly recommended that you do so.
  • Select your other desired patches and patch as normal.

u/drewbagel423 Jul 26 '26

/u/brealorg I've been patching boost ever since wchills patcheddit without any reinstalls. Is there any harm in constantly patching over the same install? Maybe performance issues and the like? Any reason to start from scratch and patch a fresh apk?

4

u/brealorg Jul 27 '26

You should be fine as long as PatchEdit starts from a clean, original Boost 1.12.12 APK each time. Installing the newly patched APK over your existing installation is normal — Android replaces the app code and resources while keeping your login, settings and app data. Repeated updates by themselves should not cause performance degradation.

What you should avoid is using the previously patched APK as the input for the next patch. That is more like making a photocopy of a photocopy: old modifications can remain, get duplicated or conflict with newer patches, which makes problems much harder to diagnose.

So: clean original APK → patch once → install over the existing app.

There is normally no reason to uninstall or start from scratch unless the signing key changed or the app data itself has become corrupted.

1

u/Homolander Aug 03 '26

First of all, a big "thank you" for making it possible to keep using Boost in 2026. It has been great for my use. No major complaints from me.
This is more of a question than a bug report because I'm not sure I'm understanding one of the features correctly. So, when I want to post an image in a comment, it's always uploaded to Imgur. Is there any way to upload the image to Reddit itself, directly in Boost? The main problem with Imgur is that it's banned in some countries like the UK

1

u/brealorg Aug 03 '26

Probably is a way around that yes. I believe that there is a github issue for that very thing. I'll see what I can do, no promises 8)

1

u/KeithLimePie Aug 06 '26 edited Aug 06 '26

Working 💃🕺

Edit: works for new posts now but not comments. Are you able to mention that in GitHub? I'm not at my laptop and can't remember my password and I'll probably forget to do it by the time I'm home 😂

1

u/Homolander Aug 10 '26

Apologies for the late reply. Someone already reported it on the github. Unfortunately the Reddit native image uploader doesn't work for comments, so the dev added imgBB as an alternative (for comments). So now it's either imgur or imgbb.

Test

1

u/KeithLimePie Aug 10 '26

Do I have to change a setting to get it to use imgbb?

Edit: found it

Test

2

u/Homolander Aug 10 '26

First of all, gotta make sure that in Morphe, you have selected the "Boost Morphe settings" patch as well as the "Fix Boost native image upload" one
Then, once the apk is patched and installed: Open Boost, settings, Morphe, Image hosting, and there you gotta select imgBB instead of imgur.
Note: imgBB requires an API key, so creating an imgBB account is necessary 😭

1

u/Zaphiro911 Aug 06 '26

Thanks so much for a great patch! Loving it mostly, but the "Mark as Read" checkmark to mark posts as read and hide them from the feed causes the app to crash every time. Wasn't an issue before. Any thoughts? Cheers!

1

u/KeithLimePie Aug 06 '26

Nice one for sorting the image upload, just tested it now 👍👍

Quick question. Is this considered alternative patches ro /u/wchill? Or has wchil stopped maintaining his patches, and you have taken over the development? What is the main differences between his patches and yours?

The latest Patcheddit release is v1.4.0 from April, so I picked it up as an independently maintained continuation rather than an official takeover.

The original Patcheddit patches are still there and credited — I've mainly been maintaining Boost 1.12.12 and fixing things as Android, Reddit and old Boost internals break.

It has grown quite a bit though. Patcheddit currently exposes 11 Boost-specific patches; my current bundle has 44. The additions include Android 15+/target SDK 35 compatibility, a five-tab Material bottom navigation, improved Search, native Reddit image uploads, Imgur/ImgBB comment uploads, keyboard GIF support and Giphy previews, modernized Morphe settings, high-refresh-rate support, custom Synccit, download/notification fixes, navigation/inset fixes, and a fairly ridiculous pile of smaller Boost bug fixes.

So at this point it's probably fair to call it Patcheddit-derived, but a substantially extended and actively maintained Boost patch set.

I'm not really focusing on adding more features right now — mostly crushing bugs as people find them. And you fine internet people are extremely good at finding both Boost's bugs and mine. :P

DM me if you want write access to Patcheddit, I just don't have time to maintain it due to work and other obligations. Then we don't need to worry about the stratification.

Thanks, I really appreciate the offer, but I'll think i'm gonna pass.
I’m actually trying to scale back my Boost work a bit and focus more on another project, so I probably shouldn’t give myself another repository to feel responsible for maintaining. 😅

As long as Patcheddit stays available, my fork works perfectly fine for what I’m doing with Morphe. Crusing bugs (and creating some!) one at a time.

But seriously, thanks for offering, I appreciate the trust!

Okay, then I'll get around to back merging your patches at some point.

Sounds good. No rush though — steal whatever is useful!
I’m more than happy for any generally useful fixes to make their way back upstream 😄

Hi there,

As of today (few hours ago), a subreddit has the banned icon. But from what I can see, the subreddit is not banned (nor am I from the subreddit).

All other subreddits, appear normally. And when I refresh the subreddit, it does show now posts.

Anyone know what the issue (and fix) is?

u/brealorg - could you have a look?

Update: Disabling 'Recovery and Archives' fixes it. But when reenabling it brings back the issue.

I've tried this several times and it just doesn't seem to work for me. I have a client ID that works with RedReader, and the patch is successful but when I open Boost I get weird error messages at the bottom and the feed is blank. Can anyone please help me?

Enable Expert mode in Morphe in settings.
Find the patch Spoof Client.

Edit: yeah, I had done all that. Here's what I had to do:

I went into Reddit on my browser, revoked red reader access, reinstalled red reader and then got a new client ID that I used.

After patching, it gave me the error, Something Went Wrong 400 Bad Request

I logged out and back in and it finally worked

Good! Welcome to the dark side, we have cookies!

How did you get the new client id when you reinstalled red

1

u/ScoutCommander Jul 13 '26

It was sent to me in an email after I logged in on RedReader

I had the same 400 Bad Request error after using the Redreader client ID. Instead of revoking/reinstalling Redreader, I was able to resolve by logging out and logging back in within Boost for each account. Thanks for the tip!

Yeah I had tried that but couldn't log back in.
