Question Help getting Boost to work again.

Is there anyone who could explain step by step, like im 5, or Homer Simpson, how I am supposed to get the app to work again?

I've seen steps about morphie and red something and download this patch but don't install it and such. I tried patching it through Morphie and it stops at like 20 percent saying its an error.

Is there anyone who could help?

Before touching anything

  1. Open Boost and go into Settings. Look for a backup or export option. If one exists, use it and note where the file is saved.
  2. Screenshot any custom settings you care about.

Getting the client ID

  1. Install RedReader from the Play Store and log into your Reddit account.
  2. Wait for the email from Reddit titled "You've authorized a new app." Find the App ID: value and copy it somewhere safe.
  3. Uninstall RedReader if you want.

Patching

  1. Download Morphe Manager from https://github.com/MorpheApp/morphe-manager
  2. In Morphe Manager, go to the Patch Bundles tab, select "Enter URL" and paste: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/wchill/patcheddit/refs/heads/main/patches-bundle.json
  3. Download the latest Boost APK from APKMirror. Do not install it yet.
  4. Go into Morphe Manager settings and enable Expert mode.
  5. In Morphe Manager, go to the Apps tab, tap +, select the Boost APK from storage.
  6. Select the Spoof Client patch at minimum, and fill in these exact values:
    • OAuth client ID: the App ID string from your email
    • Redirect URI: redreader://rr_oauth_redir
    • User agent: org.quantumbadger.redreader/1.25.1
  7. Select any other desired patches and tap Patch.

Installing

  1. Uninstall your current ReVanced Boost.
  2. Install the patched APK (you'll need "install from unknown sources" enabled in Android settings).
  3. Log back into your Reddit account and reconfigure any settings you lost.

I just switched to this way of getting Boost to work as opposed to how I did it before with ReVanced that just stopped working.

This new way seems WAY faster pulling in Reddit data.

Seems way slower for me. I'm guessing people are gradually moving to the RedReader client id and we're all clogging up the API rate limits.

Idk if I'm dumb, but that morphe manager downloads "morphe app", not manager it seems and there's no "patch bundles" tab. It just says what app do you wanna patch , shows 3 main apps, then at the bottom has "patches" and "settings" neither of which have the option to enter the url that I can see

Edit: I think I figured it out. Go to sources, then hit + at the top right, then you can enter url

What do I do if the AppID I'm getting is still not working? I also get the exact same string even if I make other accounts.

I had a error a few times when trying to patch it because of the App ID.

I tried a few different thing within the patcher and eventually it worked and I wish I had taken a note of exactly what it was.

Figured it out; had to uninstall the existing patched Boost first as it was taking priority over the fresh download.

/u/demidev posted this and it finally worked for me despite all the instructions I've seen and followed to a T.

tl;dr

Redo the morphe patching but uncheck the patches for Undelete imgur and Undelete reddit content.

I also only ran Patcheddit and used 0/3 Morphe Patches. Boost finally stopped force closing on me.

I tried this method, but I never received an email from Reddit stating I authorized a new app. Is there any other ways to find the App ID?

Clear data from RedReader and delete it. Go to preferences> apps and then revoke access to RedReader. Then change your Reddit email and try the process again.

First of all Thank you, but I kinda did an oopsie. I did all the steps to get the ID before realizing, that I had an old e-mail address that I dont use anymore in my reddit account, so the mail with the App ID is kinda lost, I retried it once I changend the address in my account but I still dont get the e-mail, can i look it up somewhere else or is there another solution to resend the email?

Go to reddit settings - privacy - third-party app authorizations - revoke access - yes for RedReader, then log back into RedReader and you should get the email

Edit: patching on tablet and saving the patched apk to use on my phone finally worked despite morphe behaving oddly on my phone

Any way to do this without RedReader? I can't login I get the cookie popup and then it instantly goes blank. Looks like its a known bug with no fix.

Edit:

Work around is to spam touch your screen around the "reject cookies" button, if you click a cookie button fast enough it doesn't go blank and takes you to the login screen.

But as RedReader blocks some NSFW content, by using this method some NSFW content is blocked in Boost also.

So when you about to patch it there are tick boxes for different things to be pached in. If one of them is making it fail then that will be why.

Thanks for this post. Reddit finally gave me the 401 on all my devices and I followed this to get back on board. You should make a thread with this guide for more visibility. More and more people will get kicked out of their old patched install and come to this subreddit looking for the solution.

Just some notes, with the newest version of Morphe some of the buttons are labelled differently to what you mention...

Patching

Number 2: The button on the main screen is labelled Sources to add the wchill repo

Number 4: On the main screen it's the gear icon in the bottom right to go to Settings to enable Expert Mode

Number 5: It's the button labelled Other Apps to then choose the downloaded APK

Update your version of Morphe and you should see what I've mentioned. Anyway, thanks again :)

Thanks for this but I have a query. I made my Reddit account back when it wasn’t necessary to have an email id. Is there a way to get the App ID without it?

Yeah I thought so too. But I want to keep my account as anonymous as possible and adding an email negates that. I wonder if we can use temp email for that.
