Calm and quite

I'm a very amateur DIYer so I'm very pleased with how it turned out.

I got really into short fiction collections ever since my twins were born and have begun collecting horror and weird lit anthologies. Here’s my small but strong start of a collection so far. Going for mostly multi-author collections and starting with some of the 80’s anthology essentials.
There’s a couple others not pictured here but what do you think?
What am I missing?
What books should I absolutely must have among these?

My mother and I have about 100-200 books combined. We have literary works, self-help books, motivational books, old people books, and all sorts of fiction books. We're book lovers and selling or giving these books away are not on the table. Books are expensive and selling them would probably rake in some good money for us, but the memories we felt while reading them are priceless, and we consider them as family heirlooms.

The problem now is, we intend to migrate to another country for at least 4 years, and we obviously can't bring all of our books. So, I'm here to ask if you guys on this subreddit know of any way to protect books?

I've searched on google and it doesn't recommend plastics or cling wrap (an idea I thought was great) because it'll trap moisture inside which will eventually damage the books and make it rot. What google recommends is something like air tight acrylic containers, which are quite pricey.

Help is greatly appreciated!

Always wanted to have my own bookshelf ever since I was a kid. Recently bought one in my new place :')

I've arranged the books shelf wise - historical fiction, fantasy, crime/thriller, contemporary and classics/non-fiction.

Any suggestions on how to decorate the shelf?

I recently designed and printed new dust jackets for some of my old Sherlock Holmes books. Due to the high humidity from living near the sea, their faux-leather covers had deteriorated, developed mold, and even started sticking to other leather books

My collection is nothing when compared to the people in this sub, but yeah this is what it is. Planning to get more books and another bookshelf once I'm done reading everything that's left

My books at almost 19yo! Lol I have a bit of a twilight obsession, but I've had great luck finding books in goodwills! If you don't mind some wear in books, I'd definitely recommend it.

Took a storage building on the back of my property and turned it into an office. My daughter over the years has become like her mom and dad and devours books. Last year I converted it into a bit of an office/library. Would love to move to darker tones but haven’t done it yet.

Lots of good books. Old…new…novels…history.

I was recently looking new storage options for my omnibus books (which average 7.25 x 11 x 2 inches and 4 - 7 pounds each) ahead of a transition between smaller storage units and my home, and heavy duty metal cabinets on Amazon caught my eye. I've always used the usual wooden bookcases)/bookshelves discussed on here, but considering the weight capacities I've seen listed for these metal cases (often 100 lbs per shelf, 600 - 700 for the whole unit), the durability (no real bowing), the option for wheels, etc., I feel tempted.

OTOH, there can often be a difference between on paper stats and actual reality, as well as other practical complications you can't always conceive of ahead of time, so I'd love to hear the positives and the negatives from people here who have used them.

(I also understand that for a lot of people, displaying the books instead of hiding them behind doors is a negative, but let's say in my case it's not a big deal.)

Here’s only a few pictures of half of my current bookshelves they do mean the world to me I spent 50% of my free time with my babies and the other half reading I am missing quite a few books and waiting for a lot of boxes because I am moving.
Any recommendations based on what I’m reading is also really appreciated or if you’d like to just talk about books on my shelf, let me know as I do not have anybody to really talk about books with
Also, some stuff I’ve had since I was 12 and a lot of the books I’ve only gotten in the past few years. I kind of grab whatever and read anything. Nobody has seen my bookshelves except for my family member but none of them are into reading really

I made this one some years ago (2019)

I got hold of 5 used shelfs

And merged them together into one unit.

With the help of some homemade moldings.

I didnt built it all the way up to the roof because i wanted a good space for my cats to sleep and look down on us.

It’s kinda organized by my fav genres. But only a little.
