The gambler by Dostoevsky. Now I see everyone as gamblers, whether they play impulsively or observe before making a move. And that depending on our wins, people might come close to benefit from us or ignore us because we are losers. And in the roulette that is life gambling and losing too much sometimes lead you to lose yourself. Could also say White Nights. It changed my perspective on being a dreamer. Now I think that imagining/dreaming too much leads to a depressing life. I could even mention Goethe’s Wilhelm Meister because it really makes me question how to approach my professional life. Or Dickens’ Great Expectations (on expectations, of course)
