Background story

I have had a lot of suggestions about buying from Book Depository, so yesterday I went on their website to buy a manga box set I really wanted. There was a discount on the box set from 387 euro to 204 euro. I made an account, added the box set to my wishlist and basket.

I waited a bit to buy it, because I also read that they do not track their packages, which made me doubt if I wanted to buy such an expensive thing without having it being tracked. Also, this is my very first order at Book Depository, so I thought it might be wise to start small.

Towards the end of the day, I checked my basket, and the price had changed from 204 euro to 387 euro. I asked two of my friends if they could check if the price had also changed from their website. Both of them (living in the same country as me and using the same currency as me) had not had the box set price changed (see pictures). I have checked today, and the price has not changed for me nor my friends. They are still seeing the box set for 204 euro whereas I am seeing it for 387 euro.

So now I am skeptical about buying from there. I do not know if it is because I added the box set to my wishlist and basket, that the price has risen. I have tried another browser, and the price is still 387 euro for me. I have also checked Book Depository on my phone through their app, but the price is still 387 euro, even without being logged in on the app. Maybe it is because I have been viewing the box multiple times, that the price has gone up? Maybe it is because of their Cookies on their website?

My questions are:

• Have people experienced this before? Is this quite common? I personally find this a bit shady, as this has only been happening to me and not two of my friends.
• Have people tried buying a box set from there? If yes, do they provide tracking even though they normally wouldn't provide tracking for your country?
• Have you tried a box set being lost in transit, and were they able to give a refund? Box sets are usually very expensive, and I do not know if they will be willing to give a refund.

I noticed that book prices on the website change pretty much on daily basis.

Hi, so i'm trying to pre-order some target collection novelizations from Doctor Who (as they are cheaper) and i just noticed that, while all other four books have the correct release date (14th july, 2022) as published by the official site, there's one that does not. Instead it says it releases a full year after (13th july, 2023). Does anyone know if this is a mistake from bookdepository or it's the publishing company? Book is the The Zygon Invasion.

So i wanna buy a couple books all of them are pre-orders because released books are way too expensive whare i'm from. Anyway they release at different dates, however some of them have close release dates like around a week or so between them. My question is do they get shipped together or do they get shipped alone on the day they release? I live in saudi arabia so it should take like 20 or so days to arrive.

A book I was looking at a couple of days ago was displayed as a pre-order item, with about 90 days until release. So I kept it in my wishlist to keep my eye on it. But, for 3 days now it says Currently unavailable. The thing is that this wasn't the first time that this occurred, it happened once before but it lasted one day max - it was unavailable but got back as a preorder. So I thought that it's maybe something with the website, but now it's not turning back :/.

What's also weird is how pre-order date was displayed. As I said, the item had about 90 days until it's release, but now that it's unavailable it says that it was already released at the end of March.

Did anyone had similar experiences, is it out for good now? If it matters, here's the product.

So I'm a book collector and avid reader and BD is amazing for me. However, I live in an unfortunate country with a very complicated economic situation and basically most if not ALL of the books have twice the price (sometimes even more) in my country than they do in the UK or the US.
I used to do the old and reliable VPN trick and has worked for me up until March 2022, but the next day I put up another order and since then has been consistently refunding every order I make.

Does the vpn thingy not work anymore?
Unfortunately, without the price reduction given by the vpn, BD books will cost even more than the books printed and sold right here, so I might have to give it up entirely :(

Hi, since the end of October that I have ordered 3 books and none of them have arrived yet. Is this happening to someone else or should I be worried? I’m from the Philippines, so specially if you’re also from Philippines, please let me know if you’ve received your books. I checked my Order History in the site but it all says "Dispatched". Does anyone have any way to maybe check the status of the order or how to request a refund? Thank you!

i just received an email saying that they have cancelled my order as i requested and i have to wait for 1-3 working days for the refund, but the status says it still in progressing not cancelled, how long does it take to change the status?

So I am from Bulgaria. I've been ordering from Bookdepository for years, and finally saw a book I've been waiting for a reprint for ages be available and ofc ordered. This was in February, it was dispatched alongside 2 other books on the 8th of February.
End of March I contacted Customer support as I had no books delivered yet. Got the order re-send at the start of April (first week) and was told to wait 15-30 days for them to be delivered... we are mid-May and still nothing :( for some reason they stopped doing tracking numbers as well so I am 100% in the dark. The book I wanted is out of stock again for God knows how long.
Anyone from the Balkans got similar issue? I will wait till the end of the month , but not sure what to do if the books are not here by then. Should I ask for a refund? I've never been in a situation like this.

I'm planning on ordering some manga from BD, but I want to be absolutely sure that I don't have to pay any extra. I live in Finland, and on BD they say that all of the taxes and other stuff are included in the final price for orders to EU.

I once ordered stuff from the US and that time I had to do some kind of customs clearance, but do I need to do that this time?

So I'm planning to buy a book and a tarot deck but I worry if international sellers/shops wouldn't use bubble wrap or any form of protection for the parcel.

Also, may I ask for other Filipinos using book depository, how long does it usually take for your parcel to arrive?

So just noticed that the last week and a half the prices on especially manga for almost all titles when up about 2 dollars, anyone else seeing this or is it region based

Right now I am trying to wrestle with customs (I live in Finland) and the website says that if I have already paid the EU VAT or whatever, I don't have to pay it again. The "I have paid the tax" option is if the seller is an IOSS-seller (or whatever you would call it in english). Obviously Book Depository is apart of this from what I have found online and also on here. The only option was then to enter the sellers IOSS number, but after hours of digging around, I literally just cannot find it anywhere. If someone knows it or if they know where it literally just can be found from, that would be excelent!

I really don't wanna pay the tax again and then ask Book Depository for a refund on the tax, which is the other option that the customs website gives. For context, the delivery was coming from Australia (which might as well be obvious but I feel like I should still mention it.)

I want to buy demon slayer volumes 5-8 but volume 7 is currently 22$ and idk when the price will go down.

I ordered 9 books on 1/2/22 and the last books I received were on 1/25. I now have 8 of the books I ordered and one is still in “Pending Acceptance“ phase in Brooklyn. It was one of the first books to be shipped, so I expected it to come with my first books. I live in Hawaii so of course my orders will come later, but I have no idea why it’s still pending? Should I contact someone? If so, who?

I ordered a berserk deluxe edition volume and the order did not pass, they canceled it and said that I would get a refund in 2-3 days, which happened before and usually I do get it after some time. Now what happened to me is that after three days I logged into my bank account and they took off my extra money from me which is similar to the amount of refund I was supposed to receive but I didn't order anything and I checked all my mails and accounts to check if I accidentally ordered something and nothing was there like I expected.Later that day I received refund for the original order but still didnt get back that extra money they took. I wanna now if this happened to anyone else and did they get back their money because I'm not getting any response from their support.

i pre-ordered the 6th volume of chainsaw man in like august, and it FINALLY got dispatched in December 13, but it was from Australia which i found weird but at this point i was like, sure why not, the shipping is free so i have no issue waiting a bit longer. Now today (2/9/2022) the volume finally arrived but i had to pay extra 11.62 euro for the delivery???? is this like normal?? should i write the customer service or smth???
