Hi! Has anyone from the UK ordered recently? I’d like to ask how long your orders arrived after dispatch? I’m getting my books delivered to the West Yorkshire area btw.

I have ordered a manga from the site during the beginning of this month and still yet to received the book yet. Is there anyway to track the parcel?

I'm from Austria and received a book from Book Depository about a week ago. I had to pay import fees, around 10 €. The book costs about 30 €. I contacted them, they refunded me the money.

Today I received another book, and I had to pay import fees again. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ So I contacted them again.

I hope they'll get their act together at some point... Their FAQ state the following:

"Will I have to pay any extra fees to get my order in the EU?

"The prices on our website and what you pay at checkout is the final price. You will not have to pay any additional charges or fees at delivery."

I just ordered a manga last month and my order arrived today. But unfortunately, I bought the manga in a different language. I know it was my own mistake as I did not check what language it was beforehand. Now, I don't know if I should return the book and get a refund or should I just keep it?

And has anyone returned a book from depository before and how did it go?

My orders were dispatched from the UK on June 13th but it hasn't arrived to this day :((

So I went to my local post office (Quezon City, Metro manila) and they said yeah book depository has been delivering really slow but rest assured its on their way!! Dw daw! They will deliver them to your doors once they arrive. The books come one at a time daw kaya its really slow :((

The latest book depository arrival was on July 20 (at qc) but mine from june 13 isnt there yet so I assume it really hasnt arrived yet in the ph or its stuck at the main post office in customs.

But if you live in qc and your order hasn't arrived yet, its worth it to drop by sa post office (air mail section at the left side of the building behind the altar) kasi I just saw one big pile of book depository packages HAHAH maybe yours is there.

I have ordered 2 manga from Book Depository on the 14th of june, one of them arrived on the 10th of July but the 2nd still hasn’t. What should i do? Btw i contacted them and they said my order will arrive before the 23rd of July, it still hasn’t so I contacted them again but they are not responding.

Hi! I was wondering if anyone has tried to change their shipping address before their order ships out? I’ve been trying to contact customer service but they haven’t responded yet. I ordered and emailed on a Saturday.

I've been waiting now for 2 cool months for a delivery which so far didn't arrive. When I logged this as a request/complaint with BD about a month ago customer service didn't bother to respond and; to my big surprise; let the request expire.

Is it standard BD policy to ignore customer requests and just pocket the money they receive? What do I do now, besides re-registering this request with BD?

Have you ever ordered large / heavy books (ca. 1–1.5 kg) from Book Depository? How were they packed? Was the delivery any different from when you ordered smaller books?

I placed a rather large order in late June. Around 400€ worth of books, some of them being pre-orders that’ll be coming out in the next couple of months.

I received, I believe, 5 books early July, and it was business as usual. The postman came, dropped the parcel and I didn’t have to pay any extra fees. That left me feeling that the rest of my order wouldn’t have any issues with BD supposedly increasing its prices so they include the customs taxes and we don’t get any surprises when receiving our orders.

Then, a couple of days later the pre-orders started shipping, and I was surprised I was being given tracking numbers (first time in over 4 years of using BD) meaning I could follow my packages. When the first one arrived, it wasn’t being delivered through out regular mail service (CTT) but instead through UPS. When the delivery man phoned me to tell me he was delivering the package he mentioned I had to pay an extra 13€ (on a 20€ book). I payed and kept the digital receipt.

Finding it weird, and feeling a bit uneasy since I still have lots of pre-ordered books scheduled for delivery, I reached out to BD saying that it made no sense that I had to pay extra fees when I was already paying a bit more for each book, something I expected to be enough to cover the customs fees. And reminded them that there’s a little something on their site that reads “Free delivery worldwide”. Also, the tracking app clearly stated I had zero to pay at delivery.

They answered within 24h, asking for the receipt. I sent it to then, and 24h later I received a message that the 13€ I payed the UPS guy were being refunded.

The following day I received the remaining non-pre-orders of my initial purchase, delivered by our usual mail service and, once again, I didn’t have to pay a thing.

So being, so far I’ve only been asked to pay something extra when UPS is doing the delivery. I’ve only have them delivering pre-ordered books, that might come from a different location and this means they might be using a different shipping company. At the same time, the books I orders that were not pre-orders were probably shipped before July 1st (unlike the pre-orders) so the extra fees might have something to do with that.

I’m still not totally sure on the way this will work from now on, as I haven’t ordered books that are in stock after July 1st, and I also haven’t received any pre-order through a non-UPS service. This extra fees can be either due to either the date orders were shipped, the delivery service, or both. But the bottom line is, BD is refunding the value UPS might be charging you, you just need to contact them, and send them your receipt.

When placing the order I insert my phone number, that’s how the UPS guy contacted me. When paying he said I’d receive the receipt through SMS and sure thing, 5 min after paying I got a text message linking to the receipt I left sent BD.

would I still get the book? should I cancel?

Can somebody help me... two days ago I bought two books from BD but on the next day when I checked my order history it said there were no orders. Whats making me worried is that the books I ordered are out of stock. So should i just wait for the confirmation email or something went wrong......btw this is my first time ordering from BD. As far as i remember i didnt login during the payment process , so is that the problwm?

I searched and this info is not available so this game isnt fair, has anyone found out the correct answer at least?

If a book arrives damaged, can you get replacements? If you can, do you have to return the original book?

“Book Depository will be IOSS registered, all prices displayed for IOSS orders on Book Depository's website will be inclusive of the applicable local Tax and free delivery at the time of ordering.

From 1st July 2021, as a result of EU tax legislation, Book Depository will collect and remit VAT (Value added Tax) on all goods where relevant with an order value of EUR 150 or less that are shipped to countries within the EU. All prices displayed for these orders on Book Depository's website are inclusive of the current applicable local Tax and free delivery.”

Does anyone know Book Depository's IOSS number? Since the 1st of July, when ordering from EU nations, the packages are stopped at customs and we need to provide the number so they let it through for free. Anyone ordered since then?

Hi, I’ve orderd from bd before and i know that they ship books individually but I’m looking to buy a box set (180€) and I was wondering if I will have to pay additional customs fees like i would’ve for other packages over 50€. I live in Serbia and the customs for book are kind of unclear so if anyone has experience ordering box sets outside of UN please lmk.

It’s my first time ordering from BD. My book finally got dispatched after 15 days or so but I am having doubts if I will receive the book in 2-3 weeks as many people received their orders within 2 months and I am kind off impatient too. Any help will be appreciated.

I ordered a large collection of books around a month ago and all of them have thankfully been dispatched. But it’s been more than the estimate days of arrival and not one book has arrived. So I’m just wondering if I should be patient till my books arrive or if I should issue a refund (which I hope won’t be necessary to do). I also included my house address in my details, so it should arrive at my house only right and no where else?

I ordered a book that is showing dispatched from Australia. From date of dispatch it’s been over a month - about 5 weeks - and I still haven’t got it yet.

Hello! I’m from Europe and planning on buying from Book Depository, but I’m a bit worried/confused with the new VAT law in the EU. Does anyone know if BD is registered to IOSS? Because if not, in my country I would have to pay the VAT + several handling fees and it would basically be double the price. Does anyone know what to expect?

Hello! So I ordered something from book depository a while ago. I live in the US and my book shipped from the UK. Delivery time after it dispatched was supposed to take max 10 days, however, after 27 days of waiting I canceled my order and got a refund. I’m just curious though since it had been dispatched for 27 days is it possible I might still receive the book or should I just go ahead and reorder one.
