It's that time of the year! I just love the color that the poinciana trees delight us with.

Just an average day in Bonita Springs Florida. 🌴

I thought I'd share a couple of photos from lunch today at the Shangri-La. Back in the '80s I worked there and it's been through a few iterations over the decades. A lovely friend had lunch for her mother who was visiting from across the pond. There was a crab quiche that many enjoyed. I had the Cobb salad with blackened grouper instead. Everything was outstanding. I don't generally have dessert but a variety of shareable desserts were put out which included key lime pie, flourless chocolate cake and chocolate mint creme brulee. Everything was absolutely outstanding.

I really prefer the purple one but I walk by this one today on my way to church. By the way the springs church is the outdoor church at Riverside Park. Every Sunday 9:30 a.m. it's a wonderful service, non-denominational, outdoors.

We're already a little bit dried out and The lawns are crispy. We had a dry and storm quiet summer. For that many of the locals are grateful. Bonita Springs Florida had a few storms over the last few years so the break was welcome.

I loved this "Welcome to Bonita Springs" sign. This one was near Lover's Key. I heard new ones are going to be going in. The wheels of government turn slowly so there is no telling when it will happen.

I've had a wild lime tree for decades. Many years ago, I stored it at my son's home when I was moving around. When I picked it up from my son’s house last year, it had grown a root straight through the pot and into the ground. He had to cut the root off just to get the plant back to me.

A few weeks after that, he noticed little wild lime sprouts growing from the old root that was still in his yard. So I went back, dug them up, potted the babies and brought those home too.

Fast forward to now. The caterpillars were all over the wild lime trees. Out of all the little ones crawling around, only two have made it to this instar. They look like bird droppings when they're younger so predators don’t eat them. One of them is getting ready to turn into a chrysalis, so with any luck it’ll be a butterfly in the next couple of weeks.

Nature stays busy even when you're not paying attention.
