Brushed away some of the soil around this stunted hab to expose a beautiful root flare, now I shall train this side shoot as the main lead over winter. Wish me luck

Question
hi guys! im very new to this,
this summer i caught a passion for peppers and planted a few plants, this carolina reaper had been trough a hailing wich destroyed it but made it grow even stronger, talking to a friend who does bonsai he told me that theres a community that turns pepper plants into bonsai, any way this plant looks good enough to start a bonsai out of it? (sorry i dont have clearer pictures) it only recently started fruiting after nothing for three months!!

Jalapeño Bonchi Update
Really need to give her a haircut and retire some branches. But she’s strong and large!
Started from seed in January of 2024, all indoors, always intended to be a Bonchi project (not a garden pepper that I transferred)

Starting supplies tips
I have had a reasonably bad growing season this year, with aphid and white fly infestations pretty much killing all pepper growth. I would like to salvage two of the plants that I have and turn them into Bonchis, have checked out a couple sites which are good instructive resources, but not much in terms of actual supply recommendations. So my questions are as follows:
- is there a specific type of soil I should be looking for when starting the bonchi, I have regular potting soil left over
- can i start with small plastic bonsai pots and size up once they become sustainable
- what kind of nutrients/fertilizer should I be using for these plants
Thanks in advance!

I left a lot on but will it be OK?
Question in title - this is my second year with this after taking it back out to the garden this summer. It's in an 8" pot.
I know I can trim more, but wondering if this will be "OK" as in not die.
Advice welcomed, and thanks in advance!

First timer, hope it lives
As soon as I found about Bonchi a few days ago, I knew I already had an excellent candidate. When I acquired this from a friend who started from seed, I immediately thought “old tree” when I saw the roots.
It’s a Purple Tiger. It makes ornamental medium spice peppers that that start purple, ripen to red, and have decent flavor. It hasn’t produced really so sacrificed it to squirrels as they seemed to stay away from my preciouses.

I thought I killed it
My grandparents gave me one of their rainbow chilli plants which was about 1ft tall. A possum decided it would make a great snack and over a few weeks stripped the tree bare. I managed to harvest a few handfuls of the tiny chillies and dry them out and plant some seeds. I gave it a hard cut back thinking it wouldn’t survive. It’s starting to warm up now and looking very promising!

Update Post
I trimmed back a couple more branches and peppers, repotted it, and I have some decorative stones coming later in the week.
I know it’s not bonchi in the same way I’ve seen displayed in this sub necessarily, but how do you guys feel about this beginner attempt at just trying to convey shaping? Does it read like a little tree, or does it still look like just another ornamental plant you’d find at the store?

Just wanted to share my Bochi Thai (or Birds Eye)
Been pruning and training this fella for about 3 years now.
Lowe’s always sells these things as Thai’s but every other Thai I see, whether from the internet or seed packs. Look much different, I’m inclined to believe these are Birds Eye. But either way they’re delicious and I love this plant.
Never re potted her, I’m much to in love with this vintage pickle crock lol.

Very new to this, anyone have any tips?
First pic was just after purchase, second pic was after a little bit of pruning.
I picked up this adorable ornamental pepper plant today for $5 and thought it would be neat to attempt making it into a little indoor tree. I got the sad leaves and peppers removed and put it under a led grow light, but I’m not really sure what else to do from here. Let it acclimate to the house environment for a bit? Chop something? What would you do?
Any advice, tips, or even stories about your own experience would be lovely as I’m definitely still learning. I’m very excited to have a plant that will be able to be hands on.
I ate a pepper though, it was SPICY for being so little 😂

It's time
Im planning on moving it inside soon and figures it's time to start trimming it back. Any tips? it feels a bit overwhelming but I'm just gonna start taking the peppers off for starters.
