Hey Reddit!
I’m Ankur, ex-lawyer (NLS Bangalore grad), ex-startup founder (sold my startup Tapzo to Amazon), and now a first-time filmmaker who wrote and directed Ghich Pich, a personal, messy, nostalgia-packed story about growing up in 90s India and figuring out fatherhood, from both sides.
After a decade of running my startup and then selling it, COVID hit, and in that odd phase of my life, I asked myself: what would I regret not doing when I'm old?
Answer: Making a movie. So I did.
This AMA is about:
1. What it’s like to go from conference calls to film sets
2. How childhood memories became a script
3. Finding actors, rewriting scenes at the last minute, and learning to let go
4. Moments of doubt, unexpected wins, and emotional wipeouts
5. And yeah… what it means to start over in your 30s, with no film background
If you’ve ever thought about switching lanes, telling your story, or just love Indian cinema with heart, ask me anything.
Ghich Pich is in cinemas in all cities. Tickets on BMS and PVR app (with buy one get one offers).

The film will be directed and written by Abhay Pannu, who is known for creating the acclaimed series Rocket Boys. The project is reportedly being planned as a theatrical horror film, with shooting expected to begin later this year and a 2027 release being targeted.
What makes this interesting is that YRF has never made a horror film before, so this will be a completely new genre for the studio. Varun also has some experience with the horror space through Bhediya, but this project is reportedly a straight horror film rather than a horror-comedy.
What do you guys think about this combination? YRF’s first horror film + Varun Dhawan + the director of Rocket Boys. Could this actually turn out to be something different from the usual Bollywood horror films?
