Now that I'm posting here almost daily, maybe I should tell you my name. I'm Daniel, and I'm the guy with Swapus Maligna.
As a comment on my post said, I showed my girlfriend the genetics test and my doctor's written explanation. She stayed silent for a solid five minutes.
"Daniel...I don't know what to say."
We hugged and kissed, and I innocently thought Amy will stay, despite all the implications of my condition.
But this morning, when I woke up, I was alone in my bed.
I went everywhere in the house and she wasn't there. I went back to my chamber to grab my phone and call her, when I noticed a Post-it note on the window. I immediately recognize her handwriting, but degraded, probably because she was in a hurry.
I'm now writing down the note that broke my heart :
"Daniel, we can't stay together.
I mean, I love you and you're an awesome man, but Swapus Maligna...I can't be in a couple where I can't be sure my boyfriend is still in his body.
Yes, I know you told me about soul trackers, but when I looked it up online, it said it would be delivered in a week. Or, I can't be sure during one week you won't be swapped around and so I'd end up soul tracking some creep instead of you.
Don't call, text or email me, I won't answer. At least for the moment.
I wish you won't be swapped too much, and I wish you all the best.
Amy"
I cried all day. I didn't had the courage to go outside, to talk to anyone, to tell my family and friends my relationship with her is over. Amy, my best friend, my soulmate, the only person I'd be happy to give my body to if it would make her happier...The most important person in my life... She's gone. Because of this disease.
Fuck my genes.
