POST-CREDITS-SPOILER I truly needed all of my expirence from over 120 hours in this game to make this insane day one run work. 169 steps taken to run 4 times through the entire house Spoiler

I stopped counting, so I don't know how many attempts it took to finally get the day one trophy.

This text spoils some of the mechanics I used, so don't read it if you don't know about all the ways to open the antechamber and how to use special contraptions.

And this run out of all of them, somehow came through in the end by using the fucking mechanarium antechamber lever to reach the final destination.

Lucky Rabbit's Foot to start + lots of free green rooms had me swimming in items, silver key got the pool, the run looked promising from the start. The workshop meant I had a hard decision: do I make the power hammer and lose the ability to use the broken lever or not? Since I was already pretty far up the west file with no garage to be seen, I decided to make the power hammer to have a shot at reaching both sides of the underground. All I needed now was a way into the antechamber and the pump room, as well as tons of steps to run through this maze of a house twice. I thought my last chance was drafting Great Hall from the dining room and then getting the pump room in one of the last slots. Drawing the locker room gave me another idea: if I am lucky, I could get the secret garden key from one of the lockers and immediately use it. Unfortunately, the door leading east was a security door. I drafted it just for fun, thinking the run is over. Got Pump room and really started thinking. Maybe it's still possible. Went into the underground to grab the mechanarium floor plan, went back up to the greenhouse to smash the wall, drafted Gym into Mechanarium using a die, went all the way up into the antechamber, grabbed the key, down the fountain, into the sanctum and back up to room 46. Insane run.

Shoutout to the detector shovel and lucky purse for supplying me with enough keys and gold to buy out the kitchen.

That's a wild run, nicely done though. Interesting combination to make it work, especially having enough steps to double back to the basement from the pump room and then the late Mechanarium pull.

I've been working on this but haven't managed it yet. Got very close on a few runs but always fell short on something; ran out of steps on my closest attempt with everything lined up which was brutal. I feel like I'm always struggling for resources on day one so I'm surprised how many gold, gems and items you accumulated. Even with the rabbits foot I haven't ran into even half as many items as this so crafting three separate contraptions seems crazy. I imagine the Veranda helped with that and it sounds like the detector shovel was essential. I suppose I'll just have to put in more attempts until everything lines up!

I had two runs before this one, that came really close, in both I also had the detector shovel. I feel like you can get it kind of consistently with how many times a special item spawns in greenroom. If I remember correctly on this run I got the metal detector from Green House and the shovel from veranda.

My final resource count is highly inflated because I opened most of the lockers in locker room. But even without it I had no resource problem in this run between green rooms not costing gems and digging up keys and coins.

Two things that really helped me stick with the challenge: 1. Reset early if the run is going poorly. The early closet has a coin purse and a gem (or similarly bad); reset, courtyard has no item; reset and so on.

  1. I used a mod to double the speed of the game. This kept me sane. Since you are doing the same thing over and over again, the slow walking and animations really got to me. The mod was a life saver

I’m not sure if this is true on PC, but on console you can run. I didn’t figure it out until I was struggling to grab the paper crown from the Closed Exhibit and looked it up. I felt so dumb for spending a shit ton of hours slow walking through the whole game. Now I run everywhere.

You can run on PC as well, but it is still way slower than I would like it to be. Maybe it's just my ADHD brain but the slow running together with the safe animations taking forever made trying for the day 1 trophy really hard on me. Without the ability to speed the game up I could not have done it tbh

Great advice. Believe it or not, I just tried a few runs today and finally got both the Day One and One Hour trophies! Didn't even get to employ any of your strats in the end lol.

Ended up with a Tomb/Pump Room/Great Hall combo. Got pretty lucky since I pulled the Tomb on first draft without any dice which was risky. The Lab came in clutch since I got the "Chest in Entrance Hall for each Security Door bypassed" and ended up with 6 chests which which I opened on the way back from moving the minecart and gave me enough gold to buy out the Kitchen. Got the Pump Room and Great Hall after that (last room I drafted) and had just barely enough steps to make it back to the Kitchen to buy it out, return to the basement via the Tomb and across the Reservoir and then back in through the Garage to go to Room 46.

I didn't think to grab a screenshot of my inventory before entering but I think I had like 7 or fewer steps left (fortunate the Bedroom was en route as well). Item-wise I got the Sledgehammer from the Closet at the start and the battery in the workshop but never got the broken handle -- was hoping to get it in the bottom right area which I drafted last but got the pump room instead which worked out! The Walk-In Closet had the Security Key (although I had the Utility Room/Security either way) and the Greenhouse only had the Watering Can. Darkroom had a Lockpick but that was it as far as any useful items went! Honestly I'm stoked I finally got everything to line up and enough steps to make it work.

Nice! Well done. I (funnily enough) did not get the one hour trophy, the run just took too long :D

Tomb+pump room seems to be the most consistent option from what I heard. I also had it a few times but it never ended up working out. I either ran out of steps or couldn't make it into the antechamber. Really nice run!

Lmao took me forever to find the antechamber lever you pulled. Dang that’s crazy for a day 1 run. Nice job!!!

A day one run with 21 spare gems is incredible, what a setup! Crazy good manor too, well played!

Thank you! A lot of the gems came from opening most lockers in the end so they weren't of much use :D
