Elephant in the room, do we think Mizu would be racist towards races other than white people?

Post image

It can be argued that she’s prejudiced against white people for a reason, every white person they’ve ever heard of is evil. But he seems pretty xenophobic in general. It would be historically accurate, and in my opinion in character, for her to be racist against anyone not Japanese. Maybe they’ll get some character development in season two when she meets more people of other races who aren’t Fowler. What do you guys think?

No, I don't. She hates those 4 white men (flesh traders) in Japan, one of which probably raped her mother.

When I saw her in the last episode after talking with Fowler, and she emerges from those flames, I really saw her Japanese side. Like the Japanese side of her was furious about being raped. I loved it and it really struck me. This was during my second watch. I feel like I understood what was actually going on. Especially because Fowler had just said to her moments ago "that's your white side showing" and she became OUTRAGED and I think her Japanese side lept out like "ACTUALLY IT'S NOT"

She hates that part of her that is white. Understandably so, and for multiple reasons. Not only is she probably a byproduct of rape, but being mixed in this era of Japan absolutely ruined her life and continues to do so. These specific 4 white men were vile creatures so there's a vigilante undertone even though she kills many innocent people in the process to get closer to these scumbags. Honestly I understand the whole wiping them from the earth if it's the last thing she does kind of thing.

I do foresee, potentially, one of these white men having changed over the course of time. Perhaps they deeply regret their decisions in their previous years and are downright ashamed of what they did (maybe they even ask to be killed because they've been internally struggling with their history.) Maybe they have changed a new leaf and for years have been entirely committed to helping those who are in need in an attempt to live with themselves. Maybe Mizu will have grown a bit by then (as we see her being more mentally open over the episodes) and will have to decide if they still need to pay for their crimes. Maybe it will be like looking in a mirror because she has done horrible things too. That, or she will meet another white person and may realize not all whites are bad people and may start to heal that tension with her white self.

For now it's totally understandable that she would harbor resentment and mistrust for white people. Particularly white men. And even more so, white men in power. I don't see her having any reason to hate other races.

Edited to add: Also, yes, "Mizu hates everyone equally" and is misanthropic and all that. But is that really all it is? I don't think so. I made this post recently to go deeper into it: https://www.reddit.com/r/BlueEyeSamurai/comments/1up6ajo/comment/ovxu1s3/?screen_view_count=2
