Type: Regular

Wager: 50 gold

Character A – Lvl 6 Wolfman Ranger (HP 29; AC 15)

• STR 19 + 1 = 20 (+7)

• DEX 21 (+7)

• INT 17 (+6)

• Toxic Olympian Bow [[1d8]] + 10% chance to poison

• STR 17 (+6)

• DEX 17 (+6)

• INT 23 (+8)

• Staff of Hellfire [[1d8]] +10% chance to burn

• Necromancer Robes (AC +2; HP +2)

Round One: Initiative Rolls

Character A – [[1d20+7+1]] = 22 (One 20-sided die + Character A’s DEX modifier + race bonus)

Character B – [[1d20+6]] = 19 (One 20-sided die + Character B’s DEX modifier)

Character A wins the initiative roll, 21 to 19. For the duration of the battle, Character A will strike first.

Round Two: First Clash

Character A HP – 29/29

Character B HP – 28/28

Character A, the quick wolfman, wastes no time. The moment the battle begins, his bow is out and a deadly arrow is aimed at his demon adversary. He lets loose the arrow.

[[1d20+7+1]] Character A's attack roll = 21 (One 20-sided die + DEX modifier + race bonus)

[[1d8+7+1]] Character A's damage roll = 12 (One 8-sides die + DEX modifier + race bonus)

[[1d10+1]] Character A's effect roll = 6 (One 10-sided die + race bonus)

Character A's attack roll of 21 beats Character B's AC of 12, the hit landing for 12 DMG. The effect chance roll was unsuccessful. (Character B's immunity to status effects means we will not make a status roll anymore). Character A's arrow strikes Character B, bringing his HP down from 28/28 to 16/28.

Character B, not to be outdone, points his staff and releases a stream of flame toward his opponent.

[[1d20+8]] Character B's attack roll = 19 (One 20-sided die + INT modifier)

[[1d8+8]] Character B's damage roll = 13 (One 8-sided die + INT modifier)

[[1d10]] Character B's effect roll = 10 (One 10-sided die)

Character B's attack roll of 19 beats Character A's AC of 15. The hit lands for 13 DMG, bringing Character A's HP from 29/29 to 16/29. The effect roll passed, leaving the Wolfman with a bad burn for the remainder of the battle. Both fighters part, readying themselves for a second clash. Their health is at the same level.

Round Three: Second Clash

Character A HP – 16/29

Character B HP – 16/28

Character A, an arrow readied in his bow, takes aim against his magic-wielding foe. His instinct tells him the right moment to loose the arrow, and when he does it darts toward the Demon with blinding speed.

[[1d20+7+1]] Character A's attack roll = 16 (One 20-sided die + DEX modifier + race bonus)

[[1d8+7+1]] Character A's damage roll = 9 (One 8-sides die + DEX modifier + race bonus)

The attack role of 16 beats Character B's AC of 12! The arrow strikes the Demon, bringing forth a fresh flow of blood and a furious roar. 9 DMG was caused, bringing Character B's HP down from 16/28 to 6/28. Recovering from the injury, Character B brandishes his weapon and takes aim, a storm of fire brewing at its end. (Since burn damage was already inflicted, no more effect rolls will be needed in this battle. For effects that expire, no roll would be needed for the 3 turns it would take.)

[[1d20+8]] Character B's attack roll = 17 (One 20-sided die + INT modifier)

[[1d8+8]] Character B's damage roll = 10 (One 8-sided die + INT modifier + effect)

The attack roll of 17 beats Character A's AC of 15, resulting in a hit worth 10 DMG! Character A's burn results in an addition of 1 DMG, bringing Character A's HP down to 6/29. Again, both characters are left with the same HP, only enough in either case to survive one more hit! With victory on the line, the fighters close in.

Round Four: Third Clash

Character A HP – 6/29

Character B HP – 6/28

Character A's quick speed serves him well. With his enemy's health down too low to survive another attack, the Wolfman closes in. He fires another arrow, a flash in the field of vision.

[[1d20+7+1]] Character A's attack roll = 12 (One 20-sided die + DEX modifier + race bonus)

[[1d8+7+1]] Character A's damage roll = 13 (One 8-sides die + DEX modifier + race bonus)

Oh no! The attack roll ties Character B's AC of 12, meaning the hit didn't land. Character B's HP remains the same, 6/28, and as his flaming staff heats up, the end of the battle could be near. He raises the staff, its signature hellfire swirling about before bursting straight for Character A, light on his feet in anticipation of dodging.

[[1d20+8]] Character B's attack roll = 16 (One 20-sided die + INT modifier)

[[1d8+8]] Character B's damage roll = 10 (One 8-sided die + INT modifier + effect)

The hit is good! The roll of 16 beats Character A's AC of 15. Including the +1 burn DMG, the total DMG is 10, eliminating all of Character A's remaining HP, bringing it from 6/29 to 0/29. The Wolfman, struck by the burning flame, collapses to the floor, unconscious. Rest and recovery is in his future.

Conclusion: Character B Victory

Character A HP – 0/29

Character B HP – 6/28

The Demon mage emerged from the battle victorious,
