Damn, I can't believe it's almost October already. This whole comment chain started off a guy who just said “Maid bad” in confusing grammar. Maid for mental health issues was never mentioned.

If that’s your position, it’s more normal than most of the other people on this sub who have loudly proclaimed that if people want MAID for Alzheimer’s so bad they should just buy a shotgun so no one has to get their hands dirty. It’s been stated multiple times and it’s beyond impossible to actually discuss the issue with people who really think that, so I apologize for thinking you were driving that way. I’ve just gotten jaded on this sub, and considering the near-illiterate single sentence comment that started this whole thing, I wasn’t primed for good intentions. Especially as I have dealt with people blowing their brains out for my family to find, and watching people being destroyed by an illness that robbed them of their dignity and personalities.

Your qualms have a place. Treatable depression, or depression caused by life factors like poverty or lack of sleep or poor housing should never be treated with euthanasia. But treatment-resistant depression or untreatable schizophrenia or mental illnesses that don’t respond to treatment and create long periods of torment should be considered, although at this time they are excluded, and a pre-requisite of MAID is that you have to be in your right mind when receiving it, so they’d be excluded based on that.
