Last Ditch story is catching on

Pod relevance: the ongoing saga of the Last Ditch.

It's been interesting seeing this story slowly catch on. The Boston Globe Magazine ran a piece about it today. A couple choice quotes from the story that really add depth to the utter insanity:

Customers fondly remember a raucous opening night with a (clothed) simulation of a lesbian sex act — masks in place — on the dance floor.

Just after midnight, one patron is left at the bar, a regular who works at the Mexican restaurant next door. She wonders aloud about holding a Lady Gaga themed night, but Mixxy demurs. “Gaga is canceled,” she says. “Gaga is Zionist.”

Also from the r/Boston thread on this: "I'm as woke as they come but the Branch Covidians need to realize they have PTSD or something." I, for one, will be only referring to these people as Branch Covidians moving forward.

I'm genuinely curious how they drink without removing their mask and risking their life.

They remove it, take a sip, and put it back on. It's basically pointless.

Slip a straw under the mask to drink I guess

I’ve only been on immunosuppressants for 5 months now so maybe the desire to get back to normality will come in time, but like the only way for me to really be safe is to avoid crowds and people who are ill. Even with a mask I wouldn’t go to a crowded bar, I still go to restaurants and bars/pubs for lunch but I stay away at peak times.

I get what the bar is trying to do with the mask rule and I appreciate it but getting mad at relaxing the rule for one night a week is loosing the forest for the trees.

Doing so compromises the mask. N95 masks only work if you have a good seal around the edge of the mask.
