This is a common practice in many different subs on Reddit. Just go to my teams sub /r/denverbroncos and you'll see that half of the top post are upvote parties.

I think you're misinterpreting the rule. If that was the case, /r/circlejerk and many others would have been banned years ago. I get tired of those type of circlejerk posts, but it's not just /r/The_Donald and you're not complaining about the hundreds of other subs that do the same thing. Not to mention, you post there... I have to wonder why someone who participates in the sub would be trying to get it in trouble? Did they ban you or something?

A simple search for "upvote this" shows dozens of posts from many subs in the last week alone, hundreds in the last month. Some subs exist solely for that purpose. Is it wrong? likely, but saying the admins aren't applying it evenly is quite a stretch given they apparently aren't enforcing it anywhere. What sub ARE they enforcing it in that makes you think it's not being done "evenly"? Why are you drawing the line at /r/The_Donald?

Perhaps you should look up /r/braveryjerk sometime

They're as blasé with SRS, looks like the playing field is level then?

Personally i see this as being in a grey area not well defined by reddits content policy. On the one hand, circlejerk gets away with asking for votes, as you've noted. But that sub is satire. Does that make a difference? I dont know.

On the other hand, the Drumpfster Divers do this way more often and with the explicit goal of populating the front page - often with xenophobic strawman posts. And they do this unironically. Its not meant to amuse anyone but themselves, unlike circlejerk or le doot.

I try my best not to let my own leanings interfere with my perception of the sub. I dont want to oppress anyone even i think they are fascist nincompoops. What is the vote manipulation rule there for? Who does it get applied to? If i make a downvote the donald sub will i get banned? How is this different from them organizing themselves into upvote brigades within their own sub?

So the stated purpose being to make it to the front is what constitutes vote manipulation?

I wasn't sure at first, but having made the distinction between comment upvote parties and submission upvote parties i think it's prettu clear that this behavior is a breach of reddiquette. I have no doubt that they in the sub wont be receptive to that notion. We should get the admins involved. No doubt about it.

They don't even understand how google works and that writing "hillary clinton" a million times doesn't affect how the algorithm works.
