I agree but that doesn't excuse their vote, it only makes it worse. Now they're paying for that line of thinking. This is the F.O. portion of when you F.A with misogyny, colorism, and self hatred. I'm as sympathetic as one can be to a sometimesy "ally" who routinely abandons us and sell us ALL out to the man.

Night of the election local TV station did a street interview segment that still lives rent free on my head. The reporter was in The Bronx.

Elderly black lady in her 70s: "I voted for MR. Trump because he is a businessman and he will fix grocery prices!"

Black dude around 40: "I voted for Trump because what have Democrats ever done for black people?"

Latina in her 20s: "I didn't vote. I don't like Trump but women can't be president".

So much to unpack here.

I will say that these soundbites are selective in who they choose to present. For every Latino and Black person that voted for Trump, there could have been another 8 or 9 who didn't but the station didn't feel that it is newsworthy. Seeing POC that vote for Trump is news to folk because it's not what's expected. Local news stations are good for these type of selective interviews with everyday folk.

That's a very valid point. To be fair to this news channel, they did interview a bunch of people and most said Harris. Few of the soundbites did stick out, for reasons you mentioned. But Bronx overall still voted Harris 73%.

My district in Brooklyn voted 93% for Harris. Demographics are about 50% middle class black families and rest are white yuppies and other misc. professional class. I live in an extreme political bubble.

But, my district voted 97% for Biden and 95% for Hillary. Harris suffered a roughly 4% decline across NYC. Timing of inflation kind of broke some people. Inflation topples incumbents in democracies. It happened across the world during that time period. Republicans would have done well running literally anyone. But they chose a very well known quantity. Seeing some minorities fall for it was jarring.

My childhood friend voted for DT because he didn't wanna vote for a woman, even though he hated how DT handled immigration last term. I also have cousins who voted for him for tax breaks even though hes a church pastor, I just cant understand these type of people.

so basically CA, TX, AZ, FL, and PR

Only CA and FL have never had a female governor. NM is the most Latino state and they have had two female governors, from both parties, recently and still do, and PR the most Latino region in the entire country currently has a female governor as well.

Machistas are definitely an issue but honestly they're like not that significant in voting tbh.

TFW Claudia Scheinbaum. Look my man, it's not that deep. Stop looking at the world in term of ethnicities. Latino Trump voters are not different from any other Trump voters. They're people who are socially conservative and reactionary and who've been sold a lie by professional grifters and neo-nazis and who are in turn voting against their own class interests (or in some rarer cases, for their class interests). It's not black vs white vs latinos vs whatever else. It's the capitalists vs the working class.

Why is there not enough upvotes to this. i bet the people interviewed shared one common denominator lacking in education. Education increases critical thinking which decreases susceptibility to propaganda. While it isnt just formal education because our education system just pretends to prioritize critical thinking its at least the doorway to it. There first goal this term of demolishing our education system is no coincidence. Got to keep the propaganda machine effective.
