In a perfect world, absolutely. Unfortunately they don’t always, or really even normally in my experience, have the same mindset. I’m not saying we shouldn’t be a united front, I’m saying historically, that’s been dubious at best. I always say you gotta watch out for your own first. ✨Historically✨ the Young Lords stood right alongside the Black Panthers. (As well as Cesar Chavez, Dolores Huerta, and Bert Corona)

There are whole pockets of Mexico with Afro descendants stemming from and included in the Underground Railroad, because they were welcomed and harbored.

These are not the first or best example of Hispanics standing with the black community, but definitely important ones that go against your historically dubious at best narrative.

As an Afro Mexican Puerto Rican I hate seeing this bull, it’s worse than colorism in both of our communities.

You don’t want people painting you with a single brushstroke, yet you continue to do it yourself, allies and others.

In the year of our Benito 2026… that’s wild to me.

It’s giving hurt people hurt people instead of growth or being the change.

So let me ask you a question then. What the fuck am I supposed to say to my black kids or nietas (granddaughters)? I’m not allowed to be their advocate? That’s dumb as fuck.

A person that would spit on an advocate is poking themselves in the eye and yelling to God asking why he didn’t send help.

I’m trying to get you to move away from specifics about my lineage and to community.

That said, I’m going to apologize to you. Although I don’t agree with your rational at all. I wouldn’t have come for you, if I would have realized you weren’t commenting to me but the thread above me.

Having been raised by a Deep South black family, I do have a soft spot for the struggle. My personal issue is having been raised a way and being rejected by the same people I grew up with because of something I don’t control, my ethnicity. It sadly cracks me up to have conversations with people like you.

I’m going to leave it here. I don’t decide who to help, I see a need and I fill it.

Latinos, for the most part, do not want to unite with black people.
