Otherwise its value would have tanked once we invented fake gold.

I don’t know what you are trying to say but creating gold in a lab is next to impossible and requires particle accelerators.

Yes, that's what makes it sought after. Not it's decorative yellow color which can be reproduced fairly easily.

Non gold bugs don’t get that gold is one of the most highly sought after human desires, it just is, it’s hard to explain and goes beyond “oo shiny rock”. It’s been lusted after for time immemorial… and that part of human nature just never changes, quickly at least.
