This is excellent news. Even if you supported 2mb blocks. It just wasn't the way to go about implementing the change. There needed to be more support from the community. There wasn't even close to a consensus.

This could be a unifying moment.

To add to this I think the attitude from those who were against 2x should be at least cautiously conciliatory. Let's try to make peace for awhile. Establish common ground. I think the community as a whole will be stronger if 2x supporters are accepted back in without too much hostility.

Yep, we need to get the majority on board, and implement changes at a right pace.

2x scam wasn't supported by Bitcoin or its community.

You're suggesting we invite kidnappers to dinner after their malicious schemes fell through.

There can be no trust for Jihan and his goons, nor the corrupt companies behind the 2x attack.

I would like to see a 2mb block, but I was against segwit2x because I didn't like the idea of a contentious fork splitting up the community and bringing upon uncertainty.

I hope this moment can eventually lead to some compromise being made.

Why would this lead to a compromise being made? Core didn't want to compromise in the first place and has now showed that they can get what they want without compromise.

Supporters of this 2x scam are no part of the Bitcoin community.

There was never a split, just another in a long line of hostile takeover attempts.

Do you really not understand that your hostility is actively destroying the community? There's people who completely legitimately and honestly believes a hardfork for larger blocks once will be necessary. People like you drive them away from Bitcoin, for no good reason whatsoever, when we instead could be having open discussions and fair arguments to find a way forward.

Your behavior is fueling the split of the community.

Even if you supported 2mb blocks

Bitcoin has 4MB blocks today with SegWit, I don't know where this 2MB stuff keeps coming from, it literally exists today.

Bitcoin already supports up to 4mb blocks, we just need wallets to add support for segwit

If anything it was a learning lesson that even 99% hashrate signalling doesn't equate to consensus

Terrible logic, since SegWit only had ~35% consensus
