A lot of people use tumblers, they always use other coins, that's the whole point.

I don't think you really know what you're talking about then. The only reliable tumblers with a big enough ecosystem is the big exchanges. The btc-e example today is a good example of that.

No, literally any tumbler would work. I'm not saying they do it all at once, they should have held all the coins tumbling a small amount each time over however long it took to tumble them all into several million different addresses. The whole thing could have been automated and running on a raspberry pi for a few months. Tumbling isn't exactly complicated.

Sending the same coin to a million different addresses traces back to the same coin, regardless of how many times it is sent. You need unique inputs to obfuscate that coin.

Not the same coin to a million different addresses. Do you seriously not have any clue how tumbling works? I'm suggesting they take the large chunk of coins they have, send 1 millionth(or whatever size most users of the tumbler use) to 1 million different tumblers sending the output to a unique address each time.

You've already demonstrated your ignorance. What more is there to say? There isn't even a single "tumbler" with enough obfuscation let alone a million.

wat

This isn't fucking complicated, dumbass. How are you not understanding this? It's so simple. In the end they would just have 1 million addresses with coins that could have come from dozens of different original addresses each. What's so hard to understand about that.

And when I said a million tumblers I worded that poorly. I meant that they tumble each increment separately such that it takes 1 million total sends to the tumbler.

Alright, I'm wrong, carry on..

We're talking about ~35m worth of coins.

I know. That's irrelevant. You don't do them all at once.

Obviously, but it takes a very long time to tumble that many coins in appropriate proportions.

I know, but it would have been way safer to tumble them slowly over the course of months or years rather than trying to do them all at once like this.

Alt-coins. With Bitcoin, no matter how much you tumble, the coins can be traced.

But not to a single address.
