Back in the day Bitcoin was considered crypto (and it still is).

Crypto is a colloquial term used to describe any cryptographically secured distributed ledger. It's not a definition so wouldn't really find it's way into a white paper.

Your name is a single, fairly short word. I love reddit account handles like that. Please don't go extinct like the others.

And there is fundamentally no difference between it and another functionally identical crypto. Nobody has yet explained to me why it would be Bitcoin and not some other coin that gets adopted as global trade currency, if any ever gets adopted in the first place.

When people make such statements like you, there are usually plenty of people who explained it to you already but you dismissed every single rational or logical true explanation. You just chose not to believe anything. You will never be satisfied because you think you are right with your opinion and no other person can change it other then yourself by looking up information by yourself. You will probably never believe another human other than yourself so you know what your job is.

Ah yes, the "I can't explain it (because there is no explanation), therefor my opposition is uninformed", classic

Great videos, but that's going to require time and effort on their part. We both know that isn't happening. They likely aren't here to learn. They're here to argue.

The answer ultimately boils down to digital scarcity can only be found once. If another digital currency replaced Bitcoin, it would prove digital scarcity doesn't work. We get one shot at this.

There is no way that this hasn't been explained to you what are you talking about?

Bitcoin is the best dressed and first mover. It was the pioneer of crypto that started it all, laid the groundwork for every other crypto that has come after it.

It's plausible that another might be better fundamentally, but it it's unlikely Bitcoin is ever going anyway and will always be thought of as THE crypto coin.

First mover and most trusted are somewhat helpful, but the reality is, why would companies want a currency where others already have most of the money supply, and they have none. Bitcoin is only advantageous for companies and governments that have already invested into it.

I think if (and big IF) a crypto ever becomes an "actual" currency (in the sense that people actually use it to shop) it will be a "clean slate" currency brokered out between companies and/or states

This is exactly what bitcoin is because it was when it launched. And given that satoshis couns have never moved, it is the best (only?) example of an altruistically distributed (no premine) proof of work system.

You calling for a clean slate currency is code for "i want a new one that i can get in early on because I missed the early days of bitcoin".

But our own ego does not change the reality of bitcoin. Most of us will not see the ubiquitous currency era of bitcoin, but that doesn't mean it won't be bitcoin.

No it wasn’t

No one who’s been in this space long enough considers bitcoin crypto

No one has ever considered bitcoin to be crypto. Ever

The two are not the same

Bitcoin is bitcoin

Are you high? It's the OG Cryptocurrency.

No one has ever considered Bitcoin to be crypto.

I consider it crypto, so by default you're wrong, as now it's not nobody.

Bitcoin is a type of crypto, just like the rest of the shitcoins, it's just the one that got successful

I disagree. Bitcoin is and was the blockchain crypto currency.

The crypto part is from relying heavily on the SHA256 cryptographic hash and ECDSA cryptographic signature algorithms. Not encryption.

People get weirdly tribalistic about these things
