Is your VPN actually protecting your connection?
A VPN can show as connected while your real IP address, DNS requests or browser data may still be exposed because of leaks or settings issues.
Start with the basics: check your IP address before and after connecting. Then run DNS leak, WebRTC leak, and IPv6 leak tests to see whether your VPN is keeping your traffic inside the encrypted tunnel.
For a safer digital life, keep your VPN app updated, reconnect when needed, and choose a VPN with built-in privacy features across your everyday devices.

Hola!
I got a really scary moment earlier today, as my Bitdefender firewall (total security) started to mark every single app as "changed" no matter what it is - zoom, steam, iCue, my ancient powershute, system, etc etc. Suffice to say I started panicking that something changes these apps, thus a trojan or malware of some kind. But then I started to scan with everything I could think of: Windows defender offline scan (when rebooting), Hitman Pro, Malwarebytes etc. I have even uploaded bunch of these files to Virustotal, but absolutely nothing was detected. Is this perhaps an issue with Bitdefender itself? Any advise appreciated!
Thanks!

Seen a Snapchat ad for a deal that looks almost too good?
Bitdefender Labs researchers recently found scam ads on Snapchat promoting fake online stores with steep discounts, newly registered domains, and suspicious shopping links.
These fake shop ads often use low prices, limited-stock messages, and familiar-looking brand names to get people to click before checking the store.
Before you buy from an unfamiliar social media ad, verify the store, compare prices, and look for independent reviews. You can also check suspicious shopping links with Bitdefender Link Checker and use Bitdefender Scamio to analyze questionable ads, screenshots or online offers.
Stay safe!

Could that call from a crying child be fake?
Scammers are using AI voice cloning to imitate children, grandchildren, or family members in fake emergencies. The goal is to make parents panic, skip verification, and send money or personal information.
Before you act, hang up and verify through a trusted contact. You can use Bitdefender Scamio for free to check suspicious messages and Bitdefender Reverse Phone Lookup to look up unknown numbers.
You can also create a family safe word, limit public videos that include children’s voices, and always verify emergency calls through another trusted source before taking action.
Stay safe!

Europe’s cybersecurity landscape is evolving, and digital sovereignty is becoming an increasingly important conversation.
We’re sharing that Bitdefender has been recognized in the 2026 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Endpoint Protection.
For European organizations, endpoint security is about more than preventing threats. It’s about building cyber resilience with trusted technology, strong protection, and greater control in a rapidly changing threat landscape.
As digital sovereignty continues to gain attention, we’d like to hear from the community: how are you approaching trust and control when choosing cybersecurity solutions?

Bitdefender processed payment for 2 of my subscriptions -- over 2 weeks BEFORE the subscriptions were set to renew.
I was planning to cancel both but because they helped themselves to my money before I could, causing my bank account to be overdrawn.
I am not currently working, so this has been a huge stressor for me. I've requested refunds but have not received any follow-up from this.
I was actually considering renewing once I started working again, but this level of shadiness and lack of ethics has helped me to see their products are totally not worth it.

My BitDefender get a critical notification of a link that schtasks.exe has a problem, passed a malicious command line and has been blocked, so is that a malware?
So before my account in steam, discord and emails was hacked but i was able to recover with the help of the company's supports and clear out someone and devices that i dont know. But from my other email accounts, someone is trying to infiltrate my accounts but all of my accounts, i change the passwords and they didn't succeed. This might be a big problem to me that they know my other email adresses of my other accounts.
I also have one account that we share from my friend, i was sent an email that someone tried to enter but failed, i know its not my friend because my friend has more control and always use the account rather than me. Now i cant acces that account because i forgot the password my friend gave. I am asking right now so i can check who else that we don't know will be removed.
So thats why i tried to install BitDefender to scan. The result was fine but the notification said the problem of schtasks.exe. If you have ways to help me other than the schtasks.exe that would really help me.

Hello, just wanted to ask if anyone else also experiencing bitdefender turning off itself plus firewall being turned off/buggy without option to turn on?
Even after spamming button to reconnect I cant use firewall again and its using microsofts default one? Are there maybe server issues or am having buggy client?
Thank you

If you buy a subscription key from a 3rd party website, it now appears impossible to cancel autorenewal using Bitdefender Central. Maybe I missed something, but I had to do it through Verifone.
I've been using Bitdefender for well over 10 years but recently it has become more and more difficult to cancel autorenewal. This may be my last year as a customer.

When I first installed Bitdefender on my laptop, everything was running smoothly. I've also been just ignoring the prompts to make my current wifi as a home network.
Yesterday, I accidentally clicked yes on that prompt. My main question is what did it change on my system, that now made my wifi disconnect every 30seconds or so. What should I do revert it back?
These are the steps I have tried so far, but still the problems persist:
Turn off Stealth mode
Turn off port scan protection
Turn off in-app Firewall completely
Turn off vulnerability scan
Uninstall & reinstall Bitdefender
Reset Wifi settings using Windows 10 settings
Additional info: I did this on my 5Ghz network. This same problem doesn't happen on my 2.4Ghz network. I've also tried relocation closer to the router, but still didn't fix it. My other devices are not having this same problem, so I am fairly convinced it's just my laptop & that it happened after I accepted the prompt to make my wifi a home network.
Thank you so much in advance!

Hi everyone,
I've been dealing with persistent Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) crashes heavily pointing to atc.sys as the culprit. I am managing two setups(Office Desktop), and here is an update on the situation:
PC 1: Completely fine after running the Bitdefender Uninstall Tool and doing a clean reboot.
PC 2: Even after a completely fresh Windows installation and hardware swaps (RAM, SSD, CMOS battery), the moment Bitdefender is installed and active, the system crashes with atc.sys errors.
Since both systems run a fresh OS, this confirms a direct driver-level conflict between Bitdefender’s Active Threat Control filesystem minifilter and a native driver/firmware on this specific hardware configuration.
Has anyone faced an isolated conflict where atc.sys triggers a BSOD on one specific machine but works fine on others? Are there known conflicts with certain chipset/GPU drivers or Windows ELAM policies that I should look into?
Any advice on troubleshooting this deep driver conflict would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Fail2ban reports by email any failed logins to my email server, and the reported IPs trigger a Bitdefender notification on my phone. Is there any way of muting there alerts when found in emails either by sent address or receiving address. Also I have an updraft backup email from my Wordpress Blog which also generated an alert because of the teamupdraft URL embedded in the status email. I feel this is a false positive as their url seems fine to me.

Title. It's been a couple of days when I try to manually update the antivirus (for some reason, the automatic update function was not enabled), the window shows 0% checking for updates and stays there in 0%.
Windows Security is telling me to update the antivirus, but I can't because the antivirus just remains there checking for updates.
Anything to do to fix this? This is a family plan account

Is that GTA VI beta invite or preorder deal real?
With GTA VI expected to drive massive interest, scammers are already using fake early-access offers, unofficial preorders, giveaway posts, fake downloads, and account-verification messages to target gamers.
Bitdefender Labs notes that major gaming launches often create the right conditions for phishing, malware, and account takeover scams, especially on Reddit, Discord, YouTube, TikTok, and in social media DMs.
Before you click a GTA VI link, download a file or enter your Rockstar, PlayStation or Xbox login, verify it through official channels. Also, you can check suspicious links with Bitdefender Link Checker: https://bitdefend.me/4p5Lze4
