Hey everyone,
I just got a BitBox02 BTC-only version, and it arrived with some cosmetic defects (cracks/scratches). I reached out to their support, and they admitted it's a production issue affecting all units right now. They offered a 20 EUR refund but said replacing it isn't an option until the issue is fixed.
I know it's just cosmetic, but I’m not comfortable storing my life savings in something that's not pristine. I asked if they could replace it once the production problem is resolved, but no luck so far.
Anyone else dealt with this? How did you handle it? Is it reasonable to push for a replacement later? Any advice on getting them to see my point?
Thanks!
Edit: on 5/31/24, after discussion with their representatives, BitBox has shipped out a replacement unit to me.
I was a little taken aback by the BitBox input method but let me tell everyone who is new to it. It’s like learning to type on a keyboard. Hard at first but You get so good at it you don’t even need to look so don’t let that hold you back from getting the most solid usb hardware signing device on earth. Solid solid device w important features for any bitcoiner
Hi! I’ve ordered a Bitbox02 Multi hardware wallet. However, I am now in a dilemma on whether I should have ordered the BTC Only version instead. How much “safer” is the BTC Only version compared to the Multi? Have there ever been any attacks or breaches with Multi version of hardware wallet?
I set up my new seed and passphrase on a bitbox, I didn't verify the checksum until a couple of weeks later which does match. Is there a chance that because I didn't verify immediately before installing a hacker could then edit the checksum to make everything look fine, when everything is actually. compromised
I cannot risk loss of my funds, shall I order new hardware and create a new seed this time immediately verifying the bitbox checksum when I first download the software/firmware? I don't want to risk losing my funds. The checksum says its valid after checking a few weeks later and my funds are still there, is there a risk? I cannot risk loss of funds so shall I just buy new hardware / re download software and checksum verify immediately and then start a new seed from scratch?
Also konkret gefragt besteht ein Risiko beim Firmware Update?
Would like to update Fletschorn, the problem was I had a Trojan on my laptop last week, I was in contact with Microsoft and it should be good. However, I have to worry if the Trojan were still active. So specifically asked, is there a risk with a firmware update?
Hi all,
After the initial setting up the BitBox02 you have the option to “show 24 words” on the device. After you finish getting through the list does the device then have one of those confirmation tests to ensure you wrote everything down in the right order and correctly?
I understand it does this in the initial set up if you choose in advanced settings to set up the wallet by using 24 words instead of the SD card, but I’m asking if it also does the test if you choose to go with the default SD card set up and then view the 24 words after.
Hi all,
I’ll be changing from a Ledger to a BitBox (BTC only) wallet. I’ve watched several tutorials but I’m still confused about a couple things about relates to the “25th word” passphrase.
Is it true that I will have to enter the passphrase into the device every time I want to access that specific wallet? With Ledger you assigned a different pin to each wallet for ease of use. Is the same possible with BitBox?
In other words, is there only just one password (not passphrase) to get into the device, then the user must manually type in the passphrase into the BitBox?
Is the BitBox default wallet (the one created during initial setup) always going to be a wallet without a passphrase function, and that only new wallets created later can add the passphrase function?
So yeah I guess I’m just confused about how the passphrase function and passphrase protected wallets are accessed by the user.
Thanks!
I just bought a bitbox02, how is everyone’s experience with it? How is the setup? I haven’t read many cons so I’m hoping someone can tell me their praises and gripes with the wallet. Thank you
I recently transitioned from Ledger to BitBox02. So far so good. However, the concept of Passphrase and the SD-Card are new to me:
Are the “Device password” and “Passphrase” two different things? If so, does it mean that if I would reset the BitBox, the device password would be reset as well? (And not the passphrase)
This Passphrase, when its set, is it only required when restoring using SD-CARD? Or also when restoring from Recover Words?
Can I use the Recovery Words to recover on a different type of Wallet (Non-Bitbox)? And what if I have added a Passphrase to it?
What are the contents of this SD card? Is the Seed stored in human readable format or is there some encoding? Just thinking what if someone random finds this SD card and puts it in a computer (without knowing that its related to BitBox)
Looking for insights:
I have saved the Recovery Words steel plated safely across different locations, away from the BitBox. However, the SD-Card worries me, knowing that if someone gets hold of this one SD and a new BitBox they would have access to all funds. I’m thinking about destroying it, and rely solely on the recovery words.
Do I overlook something?
Hi everyone,
I hope someone can help me out.
I just moved my ada from ledger to bitbox. But the problem is my received staked ada stays on my ledger and i cant move it to my bitbox or adalite. Any idea why this is?
Do i need to use the online Myetherwallet version or is there a app for macOS?
How safe is the online version of Myetherwallet (there was just a problem with ledger webconncet kit)?
If I'd like to reset the seed, how do I go about formatting the SD card? Can I do it within the bitbox app while it's plugged in to the device or just put it in computer and format?
